  1. Hello Fellow Eurobricks Members !

    Here I am again.

Even if I didn't win the Original Wizard Contest. I thought my entry, and my now official Sig-Fig deserved some more attention.

Here is an exclussive Article about it and if this gets enough Feedback and attention I'll probably REALLY WRITE the hole Novel in the Bricks Flicks and Comics Forum !

Let me Know what you think

    DAILY PROPHET

    FREDERICUS NUNTIUS

    by Rita Skeeter

Today, a month after the Death of our dear friend Fredericus Nuntius, the Famous Gossip Reporter Rita Skeeter, is presenting her Newest Novel :

    FREDERICUS NUNTIUS

Fantastic Hero or Absolute Zero ?

    5448732084_c82eb97984_z.jpg

It is beeing Published in exactly three Weeks. The Novel was written in less than a week thanks to Rita Skeeter's Quite Quotes Quill, a personnal invention of Nuntius himself.

An Interview with Rita Skeeter :

    Interviewer

Mrs Skeeter, what was your motivation to write this book

    Rita Skeeter

I believe, that the Wizarding World has the rigt to know the truth. The truth about the scandals of the private life of Nuntius, the ups-and-downs in his career, his mysterious dissapearing during Summer 1996 and his unexplained death several days after it.

    Interviewer

Will all these facts been explained in your work ?

    Rita Skeeter

Absolutly. In this Biography you'll find everything you need to know about the life of Nuntius and some exclussive interviews with his personnal collegues and friends.

    5448124985_72d3e14113.jpg

A random Page of the Book. Fredericus Nuntius is photographed in presence of Cornelius Fudge - Ex-Minister in the Ministry Atrium, in front of the Golden Fountain.

    Interviewer

Don't you feel bad Mrs Skeeter, that you used Nuntius' personnal Invention, the Quick-Quotes Quill to write such a gossiping book about it's creator ?

    Rita Skeeter

The Quick-Quotes Quill was created to to help an author to make quotes while having an Interview or to satisfy important time delays to finish a novel in time.

    Interviewer

Indeed... But they are some rumors that you... casted a few spells on the Quill. What do you have to say about it Mrs Skeeter ? Are these rumors true ?

    Rita Skeeter

Taht might be. My job is to write a most accurate and faithfull Biography in a short time. This might call for some extra magic.

    Interviewer

But what about all the stories your wrote 3 years ago about Harry Potter ? The life and lies of Albus Dumbledore ?

    Rita Skeeter

I'm sorry but I don't have time to answer these ridiculous questions. If you'd excuse me now...

    C&C appreciated :classic:

  2. I was wondering if someone has ever made a Lego dome I could use some golden PoP pieces from the palace but the effect on the inside would be cool.

For my part, I've never done it. As you're a new member, welcome aboard ! As you didn't really know where to post it, this is in my opinion not the Best Topic to post it in indeed. I think we usually use THIS forum to post building techniques issues or ideas in. I'm sure you'll get some quick and very usefull feedback out there :classic:

  3. I noticed the wand mix up too but isn't voldemort supposed to have the elder wand not his white one? So it'd be the sand colored one?

Good point Luna, once again !

Nothing escapes to your eye. Have you spotted some Nargles already ?

I know everybody thinks the Knight Bus is kinda over-prized, especially if you know that the older one is much better. I will defenatly not be buying this set. I might go look for the minifis on Bricklink though

  4. Oh very nice new pictures ! :classic:

Told ya the Slopes would look nice !

I do think you should edit the first post too. So that we can see the original pictures, AND the newer pictures in the first post. It's up to you though.

The second floor looks pretty nice too and that Ladder is lovely

That creature looks a bit like a rabbit.. Or is it a misshapen chicken ?

In anycase it surely looks super cute !

  5. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, my friend. hey, TLG has surprised us before, right? :classic:

    Hey.... guess you're right.

Ernie Prang and Narcissa Malfoy.. Fenrir Greyback and Bellatrix Lestrange.. All these Minifigures were so unexpected and cool so who knows ?

If Harry Potter gets continued, which I hope, and in some way THAT doens't seem impossible. Then, I'd go for some new figs ! :classic:

  6. :sceptic: Hmm... I disagree with most of your list.

Umbridge and Mad-Eye, they were already great minifigures and I don't think they need any improvements. I actually think they would ruin it by doing a new attempt.

There is already a Sirius, It's not the best one we can have, okay... But there is one !

As for the rest, Kingsley and Tonks would only appear in an Order of the Phoenix set if you ask me, and as we only had one for now, I think LEGO would defenatly need to make a new one.

Percy and Bill would be nice. I was already surprised, the Weasley Twins nor Percy weren't included in a few small Hogwarts set. Bill could only appear in the Seven Potters or the Wedding. Wedding woudn't be an interresting set because it's ust a purpel tent ! as for the seven potters, a new privet drive seems Unlikely and seven harry minifigures isn't the best we can get, isn't it ?

What I would really like, is a Slughorn, a Yaxley and a Kreacher.

Slughorn However is now officialy banned as LEGO blew up the oppurtinity. They should have put him in Battle for Hogwarts

Kreacher would only come in 12 Grimmault place set, which is quite unlikely.

And Yaxley... Unless they make a ministry of Magic : It is impossible

    Hmmmpf...

  7. Well, after a slight calm down, the Knight Bus doe slook a bit less exiting after all

It's indeed a bit squary. I bought the old one and I must admitt, it's way better than this. And what about LEGO putting Stickers everywehre ? Come on they could have at least printed the Knight Bus Logo or use the old printed tile !

On teh Forbidden Forest, I don't have Hagrid yet and Narcissa is fantastic. For that Reason I think this set is a win, tyhough when I'll have Hagrid because I'm planning to get Hagrid's hut or Diagon Alley, I think the hole set, except for Narcissa, will look a bit pointless.

The Battle for Hogwarts, However, is a pure and great epic WIN ! a defenatly must-have, it fits in great with Hogwarts's Castle and besides, these figs are too die for.

I hope there is a classroom as there wasn't one in the 4th Hogwarts and it could do with one.

Extremly unlikely as that set is based on an epic fight ! I don't think they would bother putting a classroom in a battle field. I can safely assume the Tower at the right is the Astronomy Tower, and I hope to see a bit of Ravenklaw stuff in the other one.

  8. I got to admit, the spongebob sets are cute but I ain't ever buying it.

    Cute ? CUTE ?CUTE?!!

I never liked Spongebob, and these new sets ae just a huge let down.

Even If I'm not a huge Batman fan, that theme was quite interresting and probably way better selling than SpongeDumb Square-face if you ask me :hmpf_bad:

yu're comic illustrates the situation perfectly Penguin

I love the expression on Robin's face, why did you use Yellow faces though ?

  9. I do like the new hairstyle of Snape. It fits the movie-Snape very well. The old piece looked much more like the picture of Snape I made in my mind.

Same issue with the new Ron-hair. The old part was more cartoony and I liked that a lot. I'm not really sure if I like his new haircut.

I prefer the new Hermoine and Draco-hair above the old one, though.

Same for me Jalkow, I don't really like the new Ron Mold. But for Snape, the new hair is cool, but the old face is way more Movie Accurate. Not the oldest one, but the one from Order of the Phoenix.

    Hello Fellow Eurobricks members,

I haven't posted a Harry Potter-thing since the Winter Break Contest, And as I haven't build any spectacular things since then, I thought I'd make a simple Vig of one of my favourites book series/movie. Lemony snicket's A series of Unfortunate Events

I've noticed that besides this Excelent Moc, there were not many Unfortunate Events MOCs or Vignettes at all.

I've read the 13 Books of the series over and over when I was younger and Today, this remains of my most favourites series.

For those who are strangers to the Series, A Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of children's/teenager's novels by Lemony Snicket (the pen name of American author Daniel Handler) which follows the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire after their parents' death in an house fire. The children are placed in the custody of their distant cousin Count Olaf, who begins to abuse them and openly plots to embezzle their inheritance. After the Baudelaires are removed from his care by their parents' estate executor, Arthur Poe, Olaf begins to doggedly hunt the children down, bringing about the serial slaughter and holocaust of a multitude of characters.

It was a very popular series as it was translated into 41 languages and sold more than 60 million copies.

I was bored, and in Desperate need of building something, I took some Bricks and Build this Vignette.

It was inspired by the first Book, The Bad Beginning, in which the Baudelaire Orphans discover that their entire house had burnt down and that their Parents died in the flames. I know it's not spectacular, but I'm planning on doing some more, bigger, and better MOCs. If you have any suggestions, feel free to give some ideas:grin:

    5441142205_16039737b7_z.jpg

Here it is, the three Baudelaire children, standing in front of their burnt down house. The door arch has been completely burned down by the fire. On the floor, we can still identify some wood, parts of the floor have been spared by the flames. And so has been the small lamp, hanging above the front door. That Lamp, that wasn't orginally included, is a methaphorical sign of hope left for the Baudelaire Children

    5441677684_e635b52d90_z.jpg

The Minifigures, both inspired by the books and the movies have all been made of existing parts. Violet's dress is directly taken from Bellatrix, and fits the movie conterpart very well. ( See below )Sunny and Klaus were based of the books, because Klaus didn't have glasses in the movie. Baby sunny looks a bit too old though, But Lego never made a flesh baby for as far as I know, except the Horrible Toy Story piece. ( Anyone knows what head could look appropriate ?)

For those who are not familiar with the Movie, ( the one with Jim Carrey and Meryl Streep !!! ) I added a picture of it to see their looks.

    Comments and Critics Appreciated.

As this is not an official Licensed theme, I'm not sure It Belongs here. But I didn't know where to place otherwise, so MOD's feel free to move it if necessary.

  11. Honestly, considering it's just a $12 set, I think we'll be extremely lucky to get Harry, Hagrid, Voldemort, and Narcissa in it. As much as I would love for Bellatrix to be in the set too, I honestly can't see it happening. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the set only had Harry, Voldemort, and Narcissa. The most minifigures to come in a $10-13 Harry Potter themed set has been three (would be epic if this set finally brought that up to four).

Tomorrow should be one great day. Can't wait to see what Lego has in-store for us with the Knight Bus set. I'm excited for all three sets, but I'm most excited for the new Knight Bus. Probably helps that PoA is my favorite of the books/movies, and I never did get the original one (still have the mini version of it though).

It would suprise me if we get 4figs too, I think we can safely assume that Harry, Narcissa and Voledmort will be the only one to be included in this set. If these are not the actual characters, they I do think they might include hagrid, but then they will take away somebody else. Three Figs seem reasonable.

  12. I've not seen the movie yet :sceptic:

Silly me ! Though I have played the Games and have three Prince of Persia sets, Fight for the Dagger, Ostrich Race and Quest against time.

I also think, just like you Jamercury that that last set really is in the Game spirit in my opinion.

Besides, beeing accurate or not, these sets are truly terrific ! :classic: The Ostrich Race is defenatly one of my favorites !

  13. I wonder if this set will come with some mandrakes for Neville and Sprout to throw from the towers? And I'm assuming one tower is Ravenclaw tower and the other room of requirement...I hope it comes with the diadem and have it actually fit around the minifigures' hair so we don't have to have them be bald to wear it.

I agree that the set could've had just a generic death eater. I would've been pleased to also have seen a re-designed Trewlaney from when she drops the crystal ball on Greyback? Provided they keep that in the movie. It also would've been nice to get a Slughorn, but who knows, maybe he'll be the exclusive minifigure in the building the magical world book?

Ah, A Trewlaney would have been lovely ! I have the old version of it, and the only thing I don't like is that she only has a hat, no hair ! She never wears a hat in the movies, I Guess LEGO wanted to go cheap with that probably. About Slughorn, I think it is a bit unlikely to get him as the Mistery Figure. I was more thinking of a redesigned figure, why not a generic Death Eater for instance

As for the Set itself, I'd love to have a ravenklaw tower, with a bit of luck, we'll get some Ravenklaw Stickers or something like that to use them in our MOC's. The Room of requirement would be nice, as LEGO totally ruined it in the Order of the Phoenix set in my opinion. :hmpf_bad:

I beg the directors to keep the Crystal Ball throwing scene ! I remember listening to that scene in the AudioBooks. We ( family ) were all sitting in the living room watching TV, I was sitting on the couch, listening to the AudioBook with my earsphones in. When I heard that scene I laughed out loud, and everybody thought I turned crazy as we were watching a drama Series...

  14. Narcissa isn't a death eater, she's only married to one and this will be Lucius's third set appearance since they brought back Harry Potter, not his first. And there are other death eaters, Yaxley, Mcnair, Dolohov, the Carrows, and more too.

Excelent Point Luna ! Narcissa only cooperated but was never branded with the dark mark and was therefor never considered as a Death Eater. Besides, I don't know if Yaxley, McNair, Dolohow, the Carrows, The Lestranges, Nott or Greyback are going to be important fighters during the Battle for Hogwarts. it all depends off the film. I do However really think they could have made a random Death eater and throw him in, just as they did for the Order fo the Phoenix set. Well, I guess creating a new minifigure is expensive for TLG but I think we all agree that Lucius malfoy is really over-used in the new sets.

  15. Ouah, Looks Great so far

The Outside is very nice with all those plants around it, In my opinion there is no need for changing that. Maybe that tree in the Back could get some extra designing work because it looks a bit plain. From the inside, the House, as you have said, needs some work indeed. It's too plain but I'm sure you'll fix that :classic:

The thing that bugs me a bit, is the Roof. It is an original idea, but the upper part of the front wall has too many gasps in it to look realistic. These 1x1 cones Look okay together, but the void that they create isn't appropriate. If I might suggest something, If I were you, I would continue the wall normaly in brown, and with slopes on the sides. That would make it fairly more appealing to the eye and easier to build if you ask me.

I've always loved that Elf Minifigure, so there's nothing to improve there. I would absolutly love to have an animal or two here and there ; a cow or a horse would look great, but just a rat on the floor would also be satisfying.

I'm Hopping to see this grow ut to a small masterpiece !

  16. This is such an amzing piece of work ! It looks so wonderfull ! All the details in it are outstanding...

I would have loved to bend over a few bits of the creations just so that all the details and precious pieces this contains !

I love everything about this ! :classic EVERYTHING !!

This truly is, a fantastic creation

  17. Extremly Nice work Dan Church !

This is a great MOC, I simply love the walls ! and Not only have you created two completely different sides of the wall, but the contrast between them is just so outstanding and fitting that it looks like two dimensions have been combined. Two completely different worlds are thrown together gently and form this amazing creation.

As iamded has stated, there are in both "worlds" abit of the other side of the wall.

I truly love this MOC !

And as that lost travelerer would say "The Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"

I think your Moc incorporates that quote perfectly !

  18. Hmm... Interresting Poll and Topic

I'm not usually surfing this forum on Eurobricks but I thought this deserved some attention !

I'm a LEGO Liscended Brickfilmer, especially Harry Potter ! I never liked Yellows and I have now come to the point that whenever I buy a new set, I directly throw the Yellow figs part into a seperate box and never open it again !

I never use Yellow in my Brickfilms : Only Fleshies ladies and gentlemen. Pirates of the carrabean is soo welcome for me for that reason. I've seen the films and enjoyed them. These new parts, excelent hairpieces, and great fleshy heads will fit in perfectly into my collection. I'll probably get one or two small sets to get a Captain Jack, can't resist having him make a cameo appearance in one of my Brickfilms

  19. I hope there are a lot more Harry Potter sets in the future as this is the only Lego theme my daughter is into. The 2010 sets seemed to sell really well everywhere in the area where I live and the stores are finally starting to restock their shelves.

Oh It didn't only sell good where you lived. As far as I know, it has been a LEGO Best Selling hit !

Where I live However, I had to order them from internet, cause when I went to my nearest shop a week after that they started selling, they were all sold out and they weren't planning to restock their shelves ! It's a quite small toy shop though.... But still, one week !
