  1. Wonderful creation SAN!

Indeed a small MOC but that doesn't take away that it is a well executed idea! Short Small but sweet as I would say. Lovely details and great use of existing sets by modifying them in a great way! All the minifigures also seem interresting! I love the guy with the suitcase, he looks pretty suspicious! And that's one happy bike rider! That woman better be a bit more careful instead of smiling like that!

Also, I like your tree design! unusual, I haven't seen it much. Maybe because I don't visit the town forum that much, but still! I like it!

Your photography is also really nice! Clean background and quality pictures, just as I like it!

  2. Gday lads! I was a massive fan of LEGO as a kid, spent 1000's of hours playing/building, but skipped a few years through my 20's. Thankfully it was the olny childhood toy I kept, and now, mid 30's have started collecting again. Really love the trains (especially 12v) and technic.

    Keep building,

    Simon.

Welcome to the Eurobricks family Simo1234

I hope you'll enjoy your stay here!

See you around in the forums!

By the way, do you build your own trains? MOCs? MODs?

  3. Welcome to the Eurobricks family Professor Jones (I like that name )

I hope you'll enjoy your stay it. Can you tell us a bit more about yourself (not personnal info!) What themes do you like? Do you make MOCs, brickfilms? Comics, just build for fun? do you like Licensed sets? Historic? Action? Town/city? The usual questions

Cheers and welcome back to lego!

  4. Hey Eurobricks! Geertos13 is bringing his newest Harry Potter creation! A pretty small one, I wasn't originaly planning on making anything, but I saw this contest on MOCpages, just for fun, no real prizes, to make a creation for every year/film/book of the Harry Potter series. After all, I decided to enter all the years, and starting with a small creation to get a little more impressive for each book.

"You need to decide where your loyalties lie...

    - I don't, I d-d-d on't kno-o-ow what you m-mm-mean se-sseverus.."

    - You very well know what I mean, Quirrel!"

    6046390733_c0b64c524b_z.jpg

So my entry "You need to decide where your loyalties lie" is a depiction of one of the, in my opinion, best scenes in the first movie and book. As it so happens, I loved that scene in the movie, with both anger, suspense and thrilling action. In the book, this scene takes place in the Forbidden Forest, but in the movie it happens at the outside of the library. I however changed it to the restricted section itself, adding another dramatic feeling to it. Harry scared, is watching the two teachers from a distance, under his invisibility cloak.

    CLOSER LOOK

    6046932706_54c41c806d_z.jpg

Here is a close-up of Quirrel, blocked against a bookshelf by Snape, who's interrogating the stuttering Professor. harry, at that point has no idea what's really going on, and thinks Snape is threatening Quirrel.

    HARRY AND HIS CLOAK

    6046942124_bdae37aaf6_z.jpg

A shot of how the hole scene is supposed to be. As Harry is under his invisibility cloak. I never liked the old purple cloak in the older sets, and hated that giant white magical thing that came with the newer ones, even though it is more accurate. I prefer to photoshop him out like that!

    INTO DETAIL

    6046939776_7393ffa0a9_z.jpg

    6046937274_49cc6fbdef_z.jpg

An other few shots from the more details in the Library. The long bookshelves, containing horrible books full of dark magic, a magnifying glass to observe parchements, papers and maps, on the shelves, and the giant window in the bakcground, filling the room with a scary bluish light of the night  To the right, a standing lamp, throwing dark shadows over the floor in the darkness... Well, you just need to imagine the atmosphere!

To finsih, one last shot of how the scene really is, dark, creepy, harry watching snape's hand sliding towards him and desperatly trying to catch that one, invisible thing : Harry.

    6046393275_aa0bd10299_z.jpg

Hope you liked it, and don't forget to tell me what you think by leaving some feedback in the comment section!

    Cheers and Greetings!

  5. There is also limited and valuable shelf space to consider. With the new super hero line coming out Jan 2012 a licensed line has to go. That line will be HP IMO. Introducing a very cheap way to get Voldemort is a huge clue about where the TLG is going with this line in my mind....enjoy the send off.

Well that's a hopeless comment  Nah, just kiddin, I know what you mean, and if we face it, it's veyr likely the theme wil be leaving us. I've never hoped that I was wrong like this before, but I do think that because of the movies are ending, the hype is kind of over. Of course, Potter-more, and the E-books and the last DVD coming out. But we should realise that after that, It sort of is getting to an end. No offense but the visual dictionnary almost proved that the end was approching, like the last step, the conclusion...

  6. Hello fred Fred Burger (I like that name )

    Welcome to the Eurobricks family,

What kind of themes do you like? Licensed, Historic? Action? And what sort of MOC's do you make? Vignettes? Big ones?

Basicly, can you tell us something about your lego collection?

Greetings and I hope you'll enjoy your stay here!

    Welcome to the Eurobricks family

  7. Lovely minifigures you have for sure! But, this is not the appropriate thread.

There is a buy, sell and trade forum in the community forum. Be sure to post all your business offers there. I see you've just arrived, which is why you can't go into the Buy and sell forum yet, be sure to check the Website and Forum forum for more info about that matter. A few more posts and you'll be able to join in the marketing world of eurobricks

This thread will probably be locked and deleted by a MOD in a few hours!

Welcome to the Eurobricks family by the way and I hope you enjoy your stay here :classic:

  8. Ooh a new vignette! Once again, an awesome creation from your part BaraSH!

Black is certainly the fitting color for such a creepy place as the Shrieking Shack. I must say that the minifigures are spot on too! Luna's torso works out nicely here! Though It makes hermione look a lot older and slightly fatter. But that's just me I guess. As much as I love the minifigures, I feel the design is mmmwheh... :sceptic: Of course, I wasn't expecting a fantastic detailled moc, but I feel that some of the creepy details got lost in the building process. The mirror is nicely done though far too simpel but I have to admitt that I would not have known any other way of doing it either. Even if it is not in the movie itself, some color variation would have been nice, as much as I love accuracy, I don't think it should take out anything from the beauty of the creation. One of the essential thing I'm missing that would have made the creation a lot better would have been the Window Shutter next to Ron. You could have done some nice SNOT Techniques or anything using these modified tiles. Then again, all these littles things aside, I still think this creation is an average vignette, with some excelent details, the bed, fireplace, mirror, but also some missing parts. every creation has ups and downs, sometimes, like in this case, I personally feel that the downs are unfortunatly more present than the ups, but that's my vision of it! Some others will probably disagree with me, and think this is a great moc, and don't get me wrong, I love this vignette and I love yur work, this one just needs a few changes to be as good as the other ones! Maybe just a personal taste, but I liked the other ones better! :classic:

  9. Thanks for all the wonderful comments guys!

You're potions classroom is very good! Though seeing as you're basing everything from the movie, meaning the Professor Slughorn shouldn't have a mustache, he only has one in the book. And the Slughorn in the movie wears a graduation hat so maybe the graduate from the minifigure series hat could work? Anyway, very nicely done :classic:

Yeah I though of that hat, but I don't have it

I've been following your HP creations for a while, Geertos, but I just never got around to commenting on them. This classroom in particular is very neat, I like all of the colorful bottles lining the walls and the attention to detail.

As for your brickfilms, they are wonderful. The animation is smooth, the special effects are cool, and the voice acting is great. Whoever voices Snape in your films does a great impersonation. The attention to detail in these is spectacular, as well.

    Keep up the good work.

Awh thanks! You couldn't have given me a bigger compliment!

They're fighting books? *huh* The world of Harry Potter sure is strange.

    :head_back:

The classroom is good, but Slughorn looks way too grumpy and he shouldn't have a mustache. Aside from that, great work again!

Whoups  I meant they are fighting over the books, little typo there.

Yeah I know he looks a bit grumpy, but that's always how I imagined him beeing in the Books! And as I am adapting him from the book he does have a mustache

  10. Obviously. In the Behind the Scenes section of the Visual Dictionary there is an (abandoned) concept art for a malfoy manor set which seems to include what looks to be a Wormtail minifig.

Really? You gotta be shiting on me pulling my leg! An ABANDONED concept art? Why the Megabl*ck Didn't they make it? *oh2*

BOUHOUHOU :cry_sad: I mean, I would have rather prefered a Malfoy Manor that a new Knight Bus, no offense to the Knight bus I have the old one and I thought it was cool...

  11. You can just make it yourself. I'm sure you can find most of the parts on PAB.

By the way, I just found these Brickipedia. They look official, but I can't seem to find them on the Lego Harry Potter website, and they are not prizes in the Battle for Hogwarts game. Does anybody know anything about these?

Well, I know these have been surfing around the internet for quite some time now, but I thought they were part of one of those games  If not, I really don't know where'they're from. Maybe the were put into the first game before it got replaced by the Battle for Hogwarts one? These are defenatly official though.

By the way, does anone know when something of a Harry Potter trailer is coming out for Years 5-7 because we got a few screenshots but that's it. I mean, if I remember well, the trailer for years 1-4 came really quickly after the annoucement of the game... Wonder how long this one would take before getting anymore news.

On a side note, I might have missed something, but why is everybody talking about a Wormtail and a Malfoy Manor? Have I missed something?! *huh*

  12. Little boys who play with fire get their fingers burnt!

Really nice creation mvelic! That Dragon is indeed truly magnificent! And you got the hole battle feeling right! Corpses and dead bodies all over the place, catapults and evil trolls hoping to get passed the walls by using their ladders. On the other hand, the soldies try to push away the ladders and the powerful wizard battles the dragon! Ah, a shame these new flames don't come with the little stems that stick out the sides, because your creation is a perfect example of creating large powerful fire blasts by combining fire pieces!

Overall, a really nice creation and I hope to see more from you soon!

  13. Aww this is so sweet

I love this vignette! The best so far I think! These windows in the background are just perfect! I know their simpel yet so amazing! You don't mind me using that technick in my Hospital Wing filming set do you? Ron's face combined with that hair is the perfect ron for me and I love the fact you used the old Hermione hair! Harry's face looks quite unapropriate, but I guess he's just happy because he finally got rid of that know it all Hermione!

The lattle "table" on the side with the flowers on it is also spot on! And I really like the bed too! Simpel, yet accurate and good looking! As usual you got the Minifigures positions right, and Hermione's raised arm is perfect too!! Basicly, this is one of my favourites so far! I like how this one is smaller but higher as the others! So, basiclly : short and sweet! A nice little vignette with as usual, great design and accuracy!

I'd love to see you give the common room a go! Not the hole thing obviously, but just a nice little vig, or a chamber of secrets one!

well, keep up the great work, and looking forward to another one!

  14. Ooh this is really cool!

Why am I the first one to comment on this great creation?

Well, anyways, I think this is a lovely piece of work Parrothead Rasmus! Harry Potter Classrooms are always fun to make, and I think you did a really nice job on these first two MOCs. I really like all the little detail you put into both the scenes. Especially the fact that you have changed the furniture for both classrooms. :classic: So these two larges models are really good! I maybe would have like to see some bigger changes between both classes, in both furniture and maybe design. I think every classroom has it's own feeling to it, and It's own wonderful colors and ambiance. I think that, if you keep using the same base-building, it takes away a bit of the personality of the teacher. I like how you added the pillars and arches for McGonnagal's class though, BUT, don't get me wrong here, it looks very good, but I just think it is slightly unfitting for Mcgonnagal. Not that here classroom is supposed to be unpleasant, but I would have gone for a more squarish design, with more straight lines, instead of these smooth arches, but that's your choise afterall, and I might be a bit over thinking the meanings of the design.

As for the rest, as you made Slughorn the potions master, does that mean Snape gets his own creepy Defense against the dark arts classroom? If so, I'm looking forward to it! so keep up the good work and hope to see more from your mocs soon!!!

PS: Thanks for the advertisment! I love that Torso too! I prefer my mustache version though, as it it close to both Broadbent's everchanging expressions and the missing mustache from the books!

  15. Once again you astonish with your buiildings!

you're really good at these ones!

So, once again, this MOC is perfectly accurate! I like how you even changed Harry's trousers into dark tan to fit the movie! Once again, the build fits the movie! The bed, the desk, the trunk, and the wardrobe thing are really cool! You even got the socks on the bed right! Some say you should add something, but if you want to stay accurate, there's not much choise. A red or golden gryffindor flag would work for the one in the movie but might look slightly too big. Dobby looks cute, once again, I love the new Dobby, he's so cool! On a side note, I'd love to see you doing a vignette of dobby in the Hospital wing, after having ironed his hands

But anyways, back on track, I think this is a great moc! The only non-accurate thing is Hedwige not sitting in a cage, but that would have been impossible anyway!

Really good job! And hope to see even more from you soon!

  16. Ooh, A new Harry Potter MOC!!

Great job on that! Once again, your little vignette looks awesome! You really paid attention to every detail in this scene, didn't you? I see the usual details, as the table and the chair, the wardrobe and Tom sitting on the bed! But there is more! You added the Suitcase in the back, the weird metalic bar at the windows with a picture of the Horcrux cave behind it! The paper/book thing on the table and of course the design of the walls! I like how you kept the color differences in the walls, though I might want to add one little difference! Just one little thing I would change is the dark tan to regular tan passage. Instead of using the brown plates, which works good too, I'd have loved to see a SNOT technique with dark tan tiles, if you have these pieces of course. Then again the only problem is that you'd have to change the position of the wardrobe, or just don't put tiles behind it!

As for the minifigures, you did them quite well too! Dumbledore looks good but slightly too old In my opinion. He's supposed to still be the transfiguration teacher, so maybe some shorter hair or the same hair in a black or blond variant? As for Tom Riddle, the expression on his face is perfect though I personnaly would have liked another torso more. Shortround's torso works fine, but I would have gone with something dirtier, and older looking. Snape's old torso, perhaps?

But, all in all, this is a great MOC and I'm hoping, once again, to see more from you soon! :classic:

  17. Hi Eurobricks!

This is Geertos13 again! A few days after my Great Hall MOC was published, I'm bringing you a new creation! As usual, my MOCS have the usual design, as they're all film sets! But I particularly like this one! Classrooms are always kind of simpel to build, but this one really was a real challenge! Potions is a very different subject than the usual spells casting, and requires more space, more objects and, more Cauldrons! So, before getting into detail, I am proud to present :

    Horace Slughorn's

    Potions Class!

    [5978442817_b7c4dfbb54_z.jpg

Here we are then! On this introduction picture, we see Professor Slughorn teaching the Sixth Years Students about different potions! The large cauldron in the front, filled with pink liquid, is Amortentia, a love potion. And the golden, glowing potion in the top is Felix Felicis, also called Liquid Luck. Both the golden glow and the cauldron's vapor were done in post production of the Brickfilm.

    Let's get a closer look!

    5978434165_5ed1466569_z.jpg

Here we can get a better look on the general design of the Classroom. Inspired though not totally based on the movies, the hole thing is a mix between the books description, the games, the movies and most importantly, my own vision of the scene and my imagination! Of course, and once again, this set is built with the constraints of Brickfilming in the back of my head! So, as seen in this picture, Slughorn is standing behind a general potions desk, and talking to his students who're all standing in the back of the room. On the different small tables in the background, a few "Advanced Potions Making" books can be spotted. Against the walls are placed long shelves with hundreds and hundres of different potions and ingredients!

    5978432017_f5a403e8b2_z.jpg

Here a little shot of the students, who from left to right are : Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Seamus Finnigan, Dean Thomas, Lavender Brown, Ernie McMillan, Hermione Granger, Romilda Vane*, Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson.

*Though Romilda is stated to be a fourth year student in the books, she is presented as a Sixth Year in the Half Blood Prince movie.

And for those reasons I kept her in aswell. Notice that Katie Bell, who was in the Movie Scene was deleted from my scene as it would create a serious problem for Quidditch in the movies. :sceptic: As Harry is the youngest player in hundreds when he is selected in his first year, Katie Bell needs to be at least one year older than Harry to be allowed on the Quidditch team. She is actually only one year older than Harry, as seen in Half Blood Prince, as she is still at Hogwarts when Harry is in his sixth.

    5978993488_d39103d7a6_z.jpg

Another General Shot, this time, Displaying Harry, arriving too late at the Potions class, as he didn't initially wanted to continue potions because when Snape teached the subject. He only accepted students who obtained an "Outstanding" for their O.W.L.'s exams.

    5978995676_61a030c060_z.jpg

In this Shot, Harry and Ron are fighting the Potion Books. Like the movie, one book looks like it has been puked on, the other one is brand new! Ron eventually wins and obtains the good looking book. Unfortunatly for him, while having the best looking book, he hasn't the best instructions

    5978982856_74d19e461f_z.jpg

Here, we see the dreadful looking,(though very usefull ) book that is "property of the Half Blood Prince" These particular instructions will help Harry to obtain a perfect draft of Living Death, a powerful poison who makes the person who drinks it falls into a deep,

unweakable sleep. These particular instructions will not only help him to get a perfect potion, thanks to them, he'll also win a tiny vial of Felix Felicis!

    5978429957_d51a2a20d2_z.jpg

In this shot, we see Seamus' living death exploding after he added the wrong ingredient. A scene almost copied word for word from the actual scene in the film, as in the movies, Seamus blowing things up is a regular joke.

And to finish, a picture of the highly wished, and very powerful Liquid Luck.

    5978427719_64e1ba8abb_z.jpg

I hope you enjoyed this little MOC, as much as I did building it! C&C always appreciated

To finish, if you want to see Slughorn's Classroom come to life, then watch this lovely Brickfilm, Harry potter and the Half Blood Prince part 7

  18. Aah, a new Harry Potter moc!

Nice little Vignette you made there! It catches the scene perfectly. the dark colors you used work perfectly! And the Black and dark grey tones fit the Character perfectly! Putting black tiles to the floor (to represent dark wood, I suggest?) Adds another dimension to what is already a really nice and dark atmosphere! You catched Alan Rickman's position very well, as far as Lego allow it of course! The lamp hanging next to Snape is quite brilliant! It's a pretty simpel design, but works really well! The books lying next to Snape on the table are accurate enough to the movie's pile of papers! The Bookshelves are simpel again, but nice! I like how you chose to use only dark colours for the books, instead of putting in colored tiles! The Fireplace looks a bit small, but when I look to the official picture, I notice that it is the good size, as both lego and real fireplaces reach Snape's head.I might suggest to put a dark tile on the fireplace to get the right look, and then use little plates on places where it is needed!

On a side note, you're really talented at photography! Be careful to have the right focus though! Especially the last two pictures are nice, the furniture on the white background could look like an official lego set advertisement picture!

The only thing I have to say I dislike in your creation is Wormtail! I understand you don't have the real minifigure, and you can't do anything about it, and you actually did nicely with the parts you had, but I just don't think it fits him that well. But who am I after all? Another thing, it would be nice to have the oppurtinity to see Narcissa and Bellatrix in action there too, if you have these figures of course! And as for the title, the Half Blood Prince works fine, though Snape and the Unbreakable vow sounds pretty good too if you ask me!

I see you're pretty new to Eurobricks! Welcome to the Eurobricks family and I'll hope you'll enjoy your stay here! I'm also hoping to see more from you soon! Are there any new creations planned? Harry Potter, if possible, cause that's what I'm the most interrested in!

    Thanks for sharing!

And keep building these wonderful Vigs! :classic:

  19. Wow, I love it! What's always impressed me the most about what I've seen of your videos is the sets, and this one is no exception! I love how the scaffolding matches the films, but I also enjoyed how you incorporated elements of the most recent set as well. The fireplace is easily recognizable, and is a spot-on match to the film! Not to mention the special effects are extremely impressive! How did you add the moving candles and the sky?

May I add that as a stop motion animator myself, I'm kind of wondering about the secret of this set. I assume there is no fourth wall behind the camera? *oh2*

Thank you for the lovely comment :classic: All the effects, were added in Adobe After Effects. The sky is suprisingly simpel to do! I got some pictures from clouds from internet cut them out and then put them in the composition (If you're familiar with After effects or Photoshop, I'd add that I feathered up the clouds alot and put a night sky layer behind it.) And for the Candles, as I had no clue on how to actually do that  I probably did a bunch of things that weren't necessary. I took a picture of a brick built candle, put it on a complete green picture. Went to After Effects, put in the picture, chromakeyed it, and then made it move up and down by using position keyframes. THen add a little fire ( It didn't make it, I got the clip from internet) and made it match the candle. :classic: hope that helped!

As for the secret of this set, yes, it only has three walls. But, some sets need 4 walls, everytime you need a different shot, you just break a wall down (While building you must not try to build the walls together, all build them seperatly so that you can take them apart whenever needed) :classic:

  20. Looking at my Username, you'll probably already know who I am

As I've already commented on youtube, I'll keep it short but, as Youtube doesn't allow me to say everything in a comment I'd like to, I'm just going to say it all here!

Well, back on track, so, the Sword of Irony... Probably one of the best Harry Potter Stop Motion ever made, that comes into my playslist along Brick72's videos

As I said before, the animation is as smooth as can be! The Mouth Animation is just amazing, and fits perfectly! The voice acting is also really impressive, especially considering the quite small cast you have on it! 3 or 4 voice actors!! My personnal favourite is Hagrid as he's just too funny! As a MOC'er and someone that accords a big deal of importance to set design, I must say you nailed everysingle set perfectly! :classic: The digital backgrounds look good too, though I feel as if the Bluescreening/Chromakeying could have been slightly better with some better lightning. The Motorcycle race is an example, of it. And Hagrid's hut scenes have the same problem.

But, except from that little detail, I just have to admitt that I'm completely in love with this! You've succeeded in creating an amazing, funny, epic, and impressive Brickfilm!

    You sir, are a stop-motion legend! :cry_happy:

  21. Anyway, let's not get off-topic. Any comments on the new funnies?

Haha, the last one with Neville and Flint was hilarious! Especially because in the movies it's never been explained or seen that Hermione has quite big front teeth until the events of Goblet of Fire.

I like the one with Aang too, unfortunatly the brightness of both pictures don't match perfectly! But it looks great and funny anyway!

  22. Thanks again for all the lovely comments everyone!

    this is amazing!! Well done.

However would it be possible for you to post a picture of it during the battle?? It's the silly boy inside of me who wants to see the castle damaged and battles going on.

    Again, great work!!

Thank you The Real Walkers, I have not filmed that part in Half Blood Prince yet, so I can't put that up yet  But I'll be sure to update it once done!

Wow, I have the movie on behind me right now, I can say for certainty that you nailed it! Wonderful work all around.

    Thank you :classic:

Nice work! It looks very accurate. But you're missing one crucial part: The house point hour glasses! Also, the fireplace should be on the right side of the hall. And what poll are you talking about? Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thanks Oky! And about these Hourglasses, in the book, there are placed in the Entrance Hall, and so they are in my Brickfilm. That's why they're not in here! And I didn't know for the fireplace :sceptic: I really thought it was on the left, oh well, it doesn't matter that much, thanks for pointing out though.

  23. Thanks for all the lovely comments guys!

I like it overall, and I think you did a good job. It's refreshing that you decided not to make the floor smooth. It gives it that Lego feel IMO.

Yes I wanted to keep the Lego Feel :classic: But I must admitt that it also much more easier to animate on studs than on tiles, and as the floor is supposed to be stone and I didn't have enough dark grey tiles anyway.

The lighting, architecture and details really do capture the antiquated and welcoming feeling of the castle. The Photoshop enhancements also do a great job of contrasting the different moods and time of day of the Great Hall. As if this wasn't good enough, the Brickfilm is yet another wonderful bonus to this already fantastic MOC! Nice voice acting.

Who is the professor located on the far right of the table?

Haha, thanks -R8-, the Brickfilm was actually main reason that this was built, then again, I love building so I would have built it anyway. I'm glad you enjoy the overall look and the design, as I've put loads of work on that!

The Professor on the far rigt... That is Professor Rolanda Hooch, the Quidditch referee/flying teacher! She comes in the new Quidditch set from 2010

Nice MOC, but more importantly nice Alan Rickman impression.

Ha, glad you liked the moc! Yes the voice actor who plays Snape(it's not me) is a very nice brickfilmer on youtube, and he really nails Snape's voice!

AWESOME work 'Geertos13', at least you got everybody in the Great Hall !

I'll show my son later on, he'll be :excited: by it....goodness I hope he doesn't ask me to design one ! :iamded_lol:

Brick On.....and keep on casting spells 'Geertos13' !

Haha, glad you liked it! Yes I wanted all the different houses to be included, unlike the sets and most brickfilms I've seen. Well let's hope your son doesn't want a Great Hall then! Otherwise you'll have to spend a great deal of time in making one! But if you ever make one! Be sure to keep me updated about it
