This was a tough one for me. It was a 2 man race between Redbeard and Jack Sparrow. Redbeard is my OG Pirate Captain, so he wins the nostalgia award. Having said that, Jack Sparrow is LITERALLY the best Pirate I have ever seen, lol. They even say so in the films. So I went with him. On a side note, if you put Redbeard and Sparrow next to each other in a Lego scene, Jack will steal the show every time. Which also leads to him being better IMO.

I'm not asking for a theme the size of dreamz or hidden side, but if you are gonna make pirate city sets... You can make pirate sets. It's easier to MOC when you have a something to work with. Yes, I suppose you can do the same with these city sets. But they are still lacking the proper Pirate "feel" imo. Heck I'm getting ready to make a few Christmas purchases for myself, and I normally want to buy as much Lego as I can. But I want Pirate parts are pieces first and foremost. Followed by Castle and then LOTR. I have EVERYTHING those themes have to offer over the last (many) years. I thought about buying the creator 3-1 ship for the 4th time, or Eldorado for the 3rd time, just to have pirate pieces to MOC with. But is it too much to ask for some sets in the lower price ranges as well? I might buy 8 of those, lol. Sometimes you don't want to spend $150, but rather $50. Instead I'm gonna go on BL and buy some pirate stuff I want. Yes, Lego gets a cut there as well, but I'd RATHER just buy sets. It's just easier. -

You took the words right out of my mouth. If all of these were actually proper Pirate releases, we would be sitting pretty right now... -

lol The truth of the matter is I wanted a classic pirate crew as well as a modern version. So I decided that Roger and Redbeard are twins. Ironhook is their older brother, lol. -

Episode 2!! In this episode we meet the Pirate Captains, and get a look at their ships!! -
You are the custom soldier guru my friend.

I voted for the original run, I LOVE those minifigs. They are special to me. I also voted for Green coats, Mister Phez needs some proper green coats.

I agree with Imperial Flagship and POBB being better. Creator 3-1... I'd say Black Pearl is slightly better (it's bigger). The OG BSB, I'd say the Pearl beats that one as well. Surprisingly, I'd say the Brick Bounty beats the Pearl though. Having said that, the Pearl is still in the top 5, which makes the Captains Quarters pretty elite IMO.
-
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the Black Pearl's best feature is the Captains Quarters. It's one of the BEST Captains Quarters to date. Besides that though... Very disappointing ship imo. As is The Queen Anne's honestly. But for different reasons.
-
Someone has to say it, so I guess it might as well be me, but... Skulls eye Schooner is OVERRATED. I had it as a kid, and of course I loved it, but nostalgia clouds the mind of many of us. The black and white sails are nice, but the rest of the color scheme is dreadful. The play features on the set were fun as a kid, but hurt the ship more than help it. The rudder play feature doesn't even work well, and when it breaks (which happens a lot), is not an easy fix. The cannons on swivels was just a way for Lego to cheap out on cannons. The Captains quarters is DREADFUL. It's up there with the Queen Anne's Revenge's captains quarters for most disappointing. The BSB is far superior, and the Barracuda Bay ship literally blows it out of the water.

What location/scene come to your mind when thinking about Pirates...

More Classic Pirates, more POTC, more Imperials, just MORE!! Unlike some of you though, I prefer things to be kept inline with what has already been released, no major changes. NO steampunk kinda stuff, or space Pirates, etc. No thanks. -

Ya, I know, lol. I was just trying to find a way to not have Broadside be Governor anymore that "kinda" made sense. -
Pirates of Barracuda Bay for the WIN!!
-
For me, it's ALL about that ship in Barracuda Bay. If they hadn't included the ability to remove that ship, without MOCCING, I would probably voted Eldorado as well. As an ACTUAL island vs fort, I think the fort (Eldorado) is cooler.
-
Agreed, the Trading Post is AWESOME!! At this point I don't know if we will see a remake of it either, not since they put the ship that goes to this in Eldorado.

[POLL] Favorite Lego Pirates Faction
Captain Pirate Man replied to Yperio_Bricks's topic in LEGO Pirates
To be honest, I like the idea of the Armada, just not the actual execution. The captain Lego made for them is pretty cool, I'll give you that one, but that's it, lol. I have a few of the minifigs, and I just never liked them. There "uniforms" we're not designed nearly as well as the red and bluecoats IMO. But I love your enthusiasm for them. 👍👍 -
