  1. My guess is that we will see latter half clone wars anakin and ahsoka, and IMO he needs a new hairpiece, depicting his curly hair from Ahsoka show. I guess they could keep the old hair if they did early CW anakin, but It makes more sense to go with the look that would satisfy the desire for ROTS coverage next year and the desire to cover the flashback episode of Ahsoka. I am very excited about the rumored overhaul on the eta build, new cockpit mold would be a dream come true. If they can improve the cockpit and get the s-foils flush to the wings it would be perfect. It's one of my favorite star-fighters but the lego version has yet to really achieve the silhouette and proportions. Agree about the snowspeeder--It's so wild to me that the UCS Hoth waves came and went without a new Snowspeeder model. I can't believe lego missed that window.
  2. Glad to hear we have a reliable source on this, so there is a chance there are more figures besides anakin? Though honestly he's the only one I really needed to be in this set to sell me on it. Also a new cockpit design is the best news I could get for this set. The jedi interceptor has needed an overhaul for years, the core design has never been altered. Also the colors on ahsoka's interceptor are deep red and white, which matches perfectly with other republic ships: coruscant gunship, grogu escape speeder, and the new ARC-170, if you want a fleet of standard-issue republic vehicles now is the time to collect, I personally dislike a hodgepodge of color variants. I couldn't disagree with this more. In universe Ahsoka is well below Anakin's height and in minifigure form with the custom headtail piece she winds up being taller than him. Mid-legs fixes that and fits with the intent of the CW version of the character being a teenager. In my opinion this set is being made as a direct response to perceived demand for both characters after episode 5 of Ahsoka and in that episode especially it was clear that CW era ahsoka was much shorter than anakin. It will also look much better to differentiate between young ahsoka and older ahsoka we have in T-6 and Peridia. We also just got a bunch of mid-legs in the skeleton crew set and I think the height looks perfect for her.
  3. starting to see it reported on instagram that ahsoka's interceptor comes with Ahsoka Anakin and R7. If true I need ahsoka to have harry potter short legs and arm printing, and Anakin needs a new hairpiece, but his typical ROTS outfit would be fine. The only way he would need arm printing is if it was his CW appearance but I doubt it.
  4. not this topic again, talking in circles over the maturity and violence level of an IP Lego has been doing for decades is the deadest horse to keep beating, the bones of said horse have been ground to dust. ROTS proved decades ago that if something will sell the maturity level isn't an issue it's the marketability. Lego doesn't do real world violence but they do fantasy sci-fi violence all day long if it sells. Dune/Avatar/LOTR/Harry Potter...insert 500 other examples over the years We get anakin burned alive minifigures every couple of years, none of these properties are actually being held back because a soccer mom is gasping somewhere at the levels of violence, it's all about whether or not enough folks will buy the set, that's literally the only thing they care about. If the market is big enough they will make a set. Acolyte wasn't too dark its just mid imo, but my opinion has no bearing on whether or not enough Lego customers like it enough to buy sets of it, if there is real money to be made there will be sets, same goes for outlaws, and Jedi Survivor and anything else. Lego released a BD minifigure and a buildable figure, and they just did Cal this year, they are clearly just waiting until they know a set will sell huge so they can price it at a premium and sell to the gamer market for big bucks. If outlaws ships 14million copies I am sure we will see a set from that as well.
  5. This is where we will see focus shift in a year IMO. It feels like behind the scenes lego was told to "go play outside for a bit" which is why they did the meme wave instead of using slots for new show sets in the way they used to for D+. In general it feels like the D+ live action show craze may be coming to an end, nothing new is filming and all focus seems to be on getting a movie in theaters. Next year will be some more filler stuff and ROTS connected sets and then I think we will be gearing up for a big movie wave.
  6. I kinda think having a discussion on liking vs not liking a show including perceived internet controversy and moral values gets way too subjective for a consumer product. The only thing that matters is $$: viewership numbers, engagement, and sales. If we don't see sets for a show then it probably didn't perform well enough. Some stuff is a calculated risk up front like the onyx cinder, and it makes sense to take a risk on that show over say the acolyte considering the target audiences. Black series seems to be marketed at older consumers imo and it went all in on the Acolyte. Depending on those toy sales we may see acolyte sets in the future. I am sure folks get paid to assess how much crossover exists between hasbro and lego customers. I don't think the onyx cinder is going to sell well. I don't think the show will be big enough for kids to want it. I don't really expect more show sets outside of the mando era since that's the only era confirmed to going back to theaters. Everything else is up in the air, but mando is actually shooting ( I think ) so gears are really turning. I also think lego is gauging the value of the Jedi Survivor series, it all comes down to how many players will drop 170 on a mantis set. Those games have sold well and the third one has a lot of potential to grow the success. I think Lego has time to wait for that series hype to peak with the release of the third game. I jumped in on the second game and it seems like a quality series, ratings are okay but the sales jumped from first to second game. I definitely won't buy the new SD for that Cal figure, but I would buy a quality mantis set day 1, provided it doesn't get the T-6 treatment.
  7. it's also about the same jump in pieces that we saw between the last obi wan jedi interceptor to anakins most recent one. I felt anakin's interceptor was borderline overbuilt and I don't know how more pieces improves that design. I have no idea what they will try now, unless the build gets an overhaul or something that requires new parts.
  8. 383 pieces and 6 figures and an astromech for 45$--I am scratching my head as to what they are going to do with that Ahsoka Jedi interceptor at the same price and fewer pieces. Based on Bob's and Obi-wan's starfighter it seems like 2 figures and a droid is likely. It definitely looks like a fun "battle in a box" set, both vehicles are really good, and they keep the figure lineup simple. I like it more than the recent clone battle-pack they did.
  9. After seeing the review for the Onyx Cinder I really really hope the new clone wars Ahsoka uses the mid scale legs, they look amazing for kid/teen figures, this would be a huge improvement for the character considering her height difference with Anakin. The Cinder is good but nothing I am interested in. I saw the new x-wing and tie fighter review as well and they look ok, Jedi Bob's starfighter looks better in reviews than I thought, but the new Ahsoka interceptor is still my main priority for a jedi starfighter CW era set. Fingers crossed the build and figures are worth that 45$
  10. These leaks feel really early, I wonder how long until we get some news on mini-figures.
  11. This makes a lot of sense to me, they were all in that scene together. Lego gets to put Rex in another set and then clone wars versions of Anakin and Ahsoka would make this the perfect lineup to meet fan demand after the flashback episode of Ahsoka. It would also explain the price a bit if you could buy one set and essentially get the main cast of the show. I want it to be early clone wars Anakin but I know they will go with the ROTS version since it has synergy with TCW, the Ahsoka flashback, and the ROTS anniversary. He better have a new hair-mold. R2 is probably pushing our luck but he was also in the scene, or it's just Ahsoka and A7 and 2 buzz droids, which would be terrible.
  12. Yeah I feel the same, but it could be a wild card in terms of quality. I re-watched that scene and I feel like it's gotta have a new Anakin figure, but it's late clone wars anakin is basically the ROTS version, if he had a new hairpiece of the quality of luke's new hairpiece I would be interested, but after the scenes in the Ahsoka show we all want an arm printed early clone wars version. Also I am mentally preparing myself regarding the build to see them rehash the same core build they have been using for 20 years, but if they actually did something new, I would pay for it. It's a small ship but there is still a ton of room for improvement. That being said, I can't find any mocs that even look viable, so I have no idea how they would go about overhauling the design, it seems like there is nowhere left to go and we will just get a recolor of 2020 with some parts moved around.
  13. I have completely put my foot in my mouth on Bob's starfighter, I was so wrong on proportions from that angled perspective shot, I thought it was a mashup of delta-7 with eta-2 proportions. Huge meh and a pass from me, I hate the delta-7 proportions especially in lego. It still looks like a solid version of that ship though. I am now holding out hope that they overhaul the ETA-2 build in some way. Bob's starfighter is like 15 pieces more than the rumored ETA-2 and it's 5 dollars less, I have no idea what's going into that budget but it better be a slew of new molds and build techniques and several solid minifigures with arm printing.
  14. I feel like they reached the limits of the old ETA-2 build with the last one, they need to overhaul the design. It's a top starfighter design for me but the lego version can never get it right, I will gladly accept the price if it means they made some new molds for the ship. But also it could be a complete sticker mess considering the color scheme, that being said, white and dark red will look wonderful next to all the other recent vehicles in that same color scheme (grogu speeder, and the gunship)
  15. Yeah I am really hoping they overhaul the ETA-2, I am really tired of the old design. Me too! I need a new Clone Wars Anakin with the shoulder pauldrons printed and the colors from the ahsoka flashback costume. I would pay 45$ if he's in the Ahsoka set.
  16. I wonder if they're gonna trot out the same old interceptor model or do something new, I wish they could find a more interesting way to handle the cockpit than that oversized piece. Also that price is perfection--hoping it's just Ahsoka and her droid--anything more would be gratuitous.
  17. I completely agree, but there will be a 3rd game and the series is doing really well so far, I believe a Mantis set is coming so I have no trouble skipping this cal figure, the fact that they put him in such an expensive set means they absolutely know the market is there. I think a mantis set also has good odds of being one of the best interpretations in recent years. That's half the success of the ships like the onyx cinder, it's a basic design and easy to implement in lego, unlike the T-6 which is harder to make a playset out of at a good size with the right cockpit shape and proportions without wasting a ton of bricks on the stupid giant double sided wing, I still wish they tried though haha. The onyx cinder is a great build but a boring design imo, but the mantis is a more iconic design (especially if you play the game), it has a smaller rotating wing that won't be a piece-hog like the T-6 wing, and the body of the ship is sensible for a strong build with easy to access and usable interior, it's such a sensible design, which lends itself to being good lego. I am holding out hope that we get some iconic builds for ships that actually have good source material in the next few years. To pass the time I think I will get the Jedi Bob starfighter and one or two of the little clone sets to do a fun minimalist clone wars era display on my shelf. I got rex for the fig(I'm not displaying the y-wing lol), I might also grab the grogu set for the incredible lamppost, speeder and 2 501st to go with rex. Bob's fighter is white and red instead of dark red so I am not sure how it would pair with the speeder+sidecar which has the same coloring as the coruscant guard gunship I think, but in a funny way that lamppost will look great next to it since it's right out of the lego games.
  18. It has the potential to be an amazing display. If they reign in the desire to make the barge a shelf queen and keep the size closer to "beefed up play-set" and include a second skiff and got the price closer to 300-350 MBS with 5 more guard figures I think they would sell a lot more of these than if they do the inevitable 3' long 500$ barge. There are just so many other sets higher on my list before I would ever waste over $300 on a giant UCS pile of monochrome bricks, but that's just me. Objectively I completely agree, but emotionally I wish they had done several things different and the biggest gripe I have is the T-6, I want them to re-release that set at the price and scale of the onyx cinder/millenium falcon, I am hoping we get definitive versions of mando-verse stuff once that era makes it's way into theaters. Up to this point it appears that mandoverse is the future of star wars cinema and I feel that reflected in the merch, Lego support for the other shows are hit or miss but they have been building the mandoverse era for several years now and I hope it leads to some incredible movie waves.
  19. I looked at that old leaked prototype photo (I think I found the correct one) and it doesn't seem like a 500$ build, not seeing as drastic of a difference the way I did between the AT-AT UCS and playset, It does seem like it would need a side build and more figures.
  20. I guess it would be redundant but it would be accurate to have the barge include an identical skiff model full of guards to complete the scene.
  21. random thoughts looking at this years sets: -at this point they have released Cal, the BD-1 build, and BD-1 figure it's gotta just be a matter of time before they do a mantis. -the more I look at the little lamppost in the grogu escape set the funnier it gets: "minimalist jedi temple display" -onyx cinder is a good build: not grey, not plastered in stickers, play features and a good interior you don't have to crack the ship in half to access, but it's kinda a boring ship design imo, maybe if the show is great I might change my mind.
  22. i unironically agree with this, and i wish the SW UCS line didn't exist haha.
  23. overall this has felt like a mostly filler year, it's clear they have backed away from the TV space quite a bit. Jedi Bob is funny and a genuinely fun fighter build so I will get that. It's a mix of delta-7 and interceptor proportions, the underside might be rough and I really hope it has landing gear, I think a lot of folks will come around on the design once they see more of it, the build and design looks superior to both the delta-7 and interceptor builds imo. Rex is a must have 12$ figure just in case we get a good Anakin figure next year. I don't have a good minimalist Clone Wars display idea for him yet but he's the definitive clone character so I got him. I might consider the skiff if they do a playscale barge at some point, like the UCS/playscale ATAT, but that's a wait and see situation. This version of Luke is my favorite that lego has ever done. C-3PO is a very interesting set to me because of the way it handles gold and silver pieces. This makes a proper chimera possible, right? Also I can now hope for an updated N-1 for mando movie with silver pieces and a better build. The SD this year was really disappointing considering all the talk from lego about how they only remake a vehicle if they can do something new like the Coruscant guard gunship recolor, for me it's a wasted slot for big grey triangle, I would have preferred the Chimera or a play-scale Venator. The build is absolutely solid though so if they ever do make those other two triangles I am confident they will do a good job. I don't know who has the money or shelf space for the dark falcon but lego is squeezing every last drop out of that 2019 falcon design. I am good to wait--I anticipate disney is going to cash in on falcon/OT crew nostalgia with an upcoming mando-verse movie.
  24. Jedi Bob's star-fighter is the first delta-7 I want to own. It looks incredible, if there was ever a time for Lego to show favoritism and go all out on a mini-figure the time is now, give Bob dual molded legs and some arm printed CW gauntlets and a hair piece haha. EDIT: or maybe it's for the best if he matches his old version otherwise some folks might get upset.
  25. Yeah, this set doesn't interest me personally but I am sure it will be great for some folks, lego has a long history of re-releasing stuff which is good for folks who miss out for various reasons, or are just getting into LEGO. They don't get it perfect but they do it better than some other toy companies haha.
