    Turns out they do work! Well, kind of. I would have preferred to keep the ball in the trap and let it go on the trigger, rather than keep the ball out of the trap and let it in on the trigger. But I couldn't get that to work.

    Sorry about the ugly colour scheme.

    Things still to do:

    • Rebuild it from Unimog-only parts (if possible)
    • Build a second copy of the mechanism
    • Work out a drivetrain that rotates the power axle at 30 rpm (or as close to it as I can)
    • Build something to split a stream of balls between each launcher mechanism
    • Build something to get the balls high enough from the input bin (might have to look outside the Unimog for this
    • Build the catcher module

    Fun times!

    Looks good! Will this be at the Brickvention? And why only unimog parts?

    Alright, you were on the money with with the xl motor, however, what is your budget like? Personally I would not buy the 88000 as it takes batteries, I would get 8878 as it is rechargeable and this is great for any MOC. Get the V2 receiver as I am pretty sure it has better power consumption/output levels compared to V1. Get the 8885, not the speed remote as it well, sucks for cars. And finally I'd say get the servo as it gives you more precise controls than an m. The max price for all of that according to the Lego site is:

    Option 1: Rechargeable Battery

    Remote 49.99, servo: 109.99, 8878 battery: 299.99, receiver 79.99 ,xl motor: 54.99 and charger 109.99

    Total: 704.94

    Option 2: 88000 Battery

    Remote 49.99, servo: 109.99, 8800 battery: 59.99 receiver: 79.99 ,xl motor: 54.99

    Total: 294.96

    I do understand how this works, given that america's population is a lot larger than australia they have a much larger consumer market which makes things a lot cheaper. But still since i had to order it from america. Anyway to answer the original question asked my understanding of how lego operates is to try to keep the cost down eg why are no technic creations accepted on ideas? It wouldn't be visable to include the battery box and charger, as they could potentially lose sales on those items if they are in a set. Hopefully though with new technologies we will see a new battery box in the future!

    I go to the lego shop, 8878 $50, i realise it is the american site, change it to australian, it goes up by $50, now $100, but wait there's more, charger extra $50.     Thanks everyone, the main thing that got me going with the 42029 was I personally prefer off road type cars/trucks, also has anyone done a C model dor 42029? or any 4x4 mods?

    Someone made a seaplane, it is in a topic somewhere here. Just search for '42029 Seaplane' and it should come up:) By the way it is pretty cool! You should head over to the mods and improvements for it as well.

    I understand that there is a way to convert LDD to LDraw, but the process is not perfect.

    If you "want to make some professional looking instructions", it's going to take a lot of work whether you do it digitally or photographically. If you're set on using LDraw, I'd suggest that the first step would be to have another look at those tutorials (there are some good ones here http://www.holly-wood.it/mlcad-en.html) and ask some more specific question if there's anything in particular you're struggling with.

    Thanks Owen those tutorials are great! I have already made a few photo stream instructions, one of which where over 500 photos long which will be released soon (in a few months). Anyway for these instructions I think a will just stick with photos. Thanks for your help! Oh and thank you too Alasdair!

    Alright, I am sitting at the computer staring aimlessly at MLCAD. I don't want to take photo stream instructions as they take a lot of time. So I wanted to get into MLCAD and all the other things. Now is there a way to convert ldd to MLCAD? I am not great with these programs so I turned to all of you. I know that there are tutorials out there but I have no idea what they are talking about. I really want to make some professional looking instructions for this model that I have just made and I have made an ldd of it. Sorry if this doesn't make sense I m quite tired and eurobricks or my computer are running quite slow there is a lot of lag between keyboard to eurobricks. This took about 20 mins to type. Anyway I hope someone an help!
