    Quick survey

Everything is loading much faster now. There's been a few minor periods of slowness, but still much better than before.

    LEGO Catalogs

It's separate from the magazine, I don't get the magazine anymore but still get the catalogs. If you haven't gotten it recently, you might need to re-register your LEGO account, or if you haven't bought anything online in the last few months it might automatically stop sending catalogs.

    Friends "Controversy"

Meh, lots of people completely overreacting about this theme. Still better than Belville, I don't recall there being nearly (some, but not much) as much complaining about Belville when it came out. LEGO's PR group is probably prepared for this though... Yay an XKCD fan! (Or you just found it randomly somewhere, still a good one).

    2011 MOCs

Great MOCs, I didn't realize these were all done by one person. The Sarlacc Pit one is my favorite I think.

    Best small set of 2011

The first one that comes to mind would be the Angler Attack set (Atlantis). Lots of dark green parts, and some other good parts too. Plus the design is nicely done. My only problem with it is the stickers keep coming off on the curved parts... The Flying Mummy Attack set from Pharaohs Quest would probably be 2nd place, mostly because I like the plane.

    Star Trek (General Discussion)

Big Star Trek fan. My favorite series is probably TNG (Though so far I've only seen that, Enterprise, and the first few episodes of TOS, so I might change my mind later). My favorite movie is probably a tie between First Contact and Insurrection (I didn't like the new one much, the story was ok and everything, but I'm not a big fan of going back in time and messing everything up so the future is different. I'm hoping somehow the whole thing will be fixed in the next movie somehow...). My favorite character is a tie between Data and Wesley, both remind me of me in various ways.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas to you too, hopefully full of family and lego.

    MOC Bandit

Looks nice. I haven't seen Spirits Within, but it looks good from the pictures I found on google. Nice suspension design too. Doesn't look like the front wheels turn though, a bit disappointing. Otherwise, great MOC.

TECHNIQUES to build cruise ship bow

Well, depending on the size of the MOC, and the shape of the particular ship, there are a few techniques that could work. Inverse slopes could be stacked in side-by-side "layers" to create the shaping, as in the front of the Maersk ship. A similar technique could be done using basic bricks/plates, but will look blockier so I don't recommend it unless the ship will be REALLY big, in which case it would appear more curved. A slightly more advanced technique would involve using clips (Parts like this and this) to connect plates and tiles at an angle to each other. This will require more knowledge of SNOT (Studs not on top) techniques than the previous method, particularly when attaching it to the rest of the ship. I can post an LDD picture of this if you need examples. A good example of this is here (I'm not certain if the build used clips rather than another part type since they aren't visible, but that shows the general result).

    Gift Vignettes

Cool gifts, the bike one is my favorite. I wonder if anyone will end up getting more sets after getting these.

    Server Upgrade!

Thanks, a few days ago it started getting really slow (5 minutes to load the frontpage, which normally takes under 30 seconds for me). Seems to be running a lot faster today though.
  12. Nice that you're giving away these sets. I wish I was a person who had a chance of winning this...

    7066 Viper Canopy issues

You can order free replacement parts here. Just fill out the forms and you should have a replacement within a few weeks (perhaps longer since it's around Christmas time, and exact time depends on here you live).

    Foot to Brick conversion

Depending on what I'm making, I generally try to make it roughly 1.5 studs = 1 foot, or somewhere in that range.

    Friends "Controversy"

While I respect that LEGO is trying to attract more girls, I think there are other methods they could have used that the stereotypical pink sets and such. For example, the inclusion of more female minifigs, particularly in jobs traditionally considered "male", like firefighters and police. Also they could include girls into advertisements more, other than a Duplo commercial a few weeks ago, I haven't seen any that showed a girl playing with the sets. It would probably attract some to LEGO if they saw other girls their age playing with it. Anyway, I'll probably get a few anyway, since there are some useful parts in odd colors. And Olivia's Workshop has the part with all of the physics/maths equations (Though the inclusion of a flower and heart may make it difficult to use for some purposes...)

    Crown Knights Outpost

A small outpost, in a rocky area near high mountains, along the border of the Crown Knight kingdom. No interior in this because of the large supports required to keep it all together, and because of lack of parts. This is also my first Castle MOC. Crown Knights outpost by brickmack, on Flickr Comments appreciated.

    20,000 Members!

When I first got into LEGO, I found the forums on the LEGO site but quickly got tired of them (I hate moderated forums), and did a search for "LEGO forums". Eurobricks was the first I found in the results. I mostly like the set reviews, news, and MOCs (I suppose that is just about everything here, so I'll just say I generally like the whole site)...

    LEGO ReBrick is up&running

Looks like it has some potential. There are some issues though, like the slowness (probably caused mostly by all of the visitors recently), and there are some things I don't like in the interface. Also it wouldn't let me look at anything on the site until I signed up (which took a while because for some reason it took 3 tries to get signed up). These will probably (hopefully) be fixed soon though, since it's still just in beta. Also, I heard about a project called LEGO Octopus that LEGO was doing a few months ago, some online thing I think. Is that what this is, or another project?

REVIEW: 6862 Superman vs. Power Armor Lex

Ooh, looks nice. I'll probably grab 2 or 3 for the green and purple parts . Some other useful parts, but those are the main ones. I like those figs a lot too, especially superman. Been waiting for a proper superhero theme for years.

Is anyone good at networking PC's?

For the vending machine, something like that could be done fairly easily. Each part would just be a series of bags on a turning coil, which drops the bag into a box below. A small computer could be used in the machine to control everything, and a program could be written easily to receive input as text files and convert it to instructions for the coils. Each bag would probably have to have like 5 or 10 parts in it though, so you don't have to have 60 bags in each order (I think it's possible to set up bricklink orders to only take orders in certain increments). Since the coil system isn't very precise, you might want to have some sort of weight sensor underneath to make sure the right number of bags are dropped in. Obviously for any large number of part types, this would have to be quite large...

    Problem with stickers

Strange. It's possible that the machines just didn't apply enough adhesive to that particular set of stickers, or maybe they were trying some new formula, or some other explanation. Either way, you can contact LEGO at LEGO customer support.

    Space Marines Cuusoo

Looks great, It would be nice if LEGO did ugokins. I almost forgot about those aliens from nnenn. Might have to go build some...

    Well, I've started it now...

Good luck on sorting, the LDD categories should be of some help. That's something I've always had problems with, the categories. The sorting containers might get a bit expensive, and it's going to take a lot of room probably.
  24. No significant other, but I probably will get a small set for a friend to encourage him to collect LEGO. My plans aren't all nice though, I'm secretly hoping he will later give up and let me have it cheaply... I'm evil that way.

    21102 LEGO CUUSOO Minecraft

I'm not a Minecraft user, and personally I don't think those look that great (To me a bunch of blocks stacked up is just rather boring) but I do see the potential for a lot of bricks and plates in colors like brown and green and such, which could be useful.
