Since weather is stormy I worked on some of my customs.
Here's an Austrian WWI Ulan with custom Ulan Tschapka and Rifle.

Really interesting.
Would also be interested in the technique and the material he has used.
How many pieces did he make?
Is it correct that these are all standard lego pieces copied by a mold?
If yes, would be really interesting if you mold a real custom piece and see the results!

Looking at the pictures I think white epaulettes might be a good idea, even though they are not exactly the same.
Here's a possible example:
-
Epaulettes would look good as well, but maybe that's not historically correct ....
You're right the kind of epaulettes LEGO has are not historically correct. But good point, maybe it's worth to think over two custom items?
You find the original for the scene below at the cover and you find the 3 types of epaulettes used by the British army also in these two pictures.

My tribute to Osprey's Men-At-Arms Wellington's Infantry (1).
It shows several of my items like: shako, Wellington, sword-bayonet, drum and spontoon.
All decals were made special for this group.

Also a question for you, do you believe you could make 2 items with Shapeways. .... and also a backpack without the greatcoat rolled on its top?
http://www.shapeways...ack__test_.html
the question is, if we should make it more french like this to have a difference:

Ah, thanks. I saw an article about something like this in Popular Science. It was a kit you could buy online to make a printer like that for a couple hundred dollars. I might want one now! Also, that is pretty cool that you make items other than pirates ones woody64!
I've also seen that. I think it's the makerbot or something similar. But not sure if the resolution and quality is enough.

These are pretty cool! You should make more than pirate related ones.
Also, can somebody tell me why this is called 3D printing? I don't quite understand.
In the last months I've added a lot of other stuff (some of them by user request):
- Brodie, M1, MKIII, German, Russian, ...
- Kar98
- Bobby, Bowler, Marching Band Hat, ...
- Pauldrons, SciFi Helmet,
- ...
take a look on the pages below to get some further impressions.
