  1. When you view the Brickipedia page about the minifigure of Argus Filch, you will find a picture of him taken at the 2010 toy fair. This picture shows his hair in a brown color that I first saw used in the LEGO harry Potter video game as Penelope Clearwater's hair. I'm a guy with long hair and that hair piece looks just like my hair unintentionally. What I really want to know is if I can buy that exact lego piece and where to go to get it. And on a similar topic, is there a website where I can browse through out every single lego minifigure piece and accessory and buy the pieces I want. Also, I would appreciate it if someone could show me some instructions on how to make a lego version of the bit bike from Mario Kart Wii. Any info you can give me will be a big help.

You can always start by trying Lego.com - specifically the "Pick A Brick" section (just type that into the search bar). For harder-to-locate or discontinued items, try bricklink.com to buy pieces, minifigs, sets, instructions, etc. Unfortunately, neither of those will help you for the hair you are trying to find - for Lego has not put it into a production set yet. As for the Mario Kart Wii instructions, I fear I cannot help you there either - I'm not Mario-savvy and wouldn't know a bit bike if it bit me! :classic: Best of luck in your Lego endeavors!

  2. I realize I'm late to the party so to speak, but I will be there as well. I've been to nearly all of the Virginia brick cons, though if I bring anything it's usually something small. If anyone remembers the football field with the drum and bugle corps show last year, that was mine - I believe that has been the largest creation I've ever brought! Fallentomato, I might be able to help you out a bit during public hours. I'll see you there - and if I get building, I might even have something to show off as well!

  3. Hi all,

I'm looking for 5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit (preferably new in box) if anyone has one available.

Doesn't seem to be able to find it anymore at retail at places like Toys r us, Target, etc. If someone knows of any stores that may still stock these, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance. :)

I wish I had seen this before now ... my Lego store got one in as a return yesterday! However, I think it left almost as soon as it got priced and put back out for sale. Sorry I can't help you out other to keep my eye out for another return.

I wish you luck in finding it at a reasonable price, though - it's a great set! I built it for last year's holiday display and I had a blast.

  4. I have a little tale to tell you all, I was at a toy store, actually a Toyworld....a father had just paid for a lighting truck, tow truck and police car and his child carried them to the family car with a huge smile on HER face. You see Lego, girls build CITY....they are all not into Brat's dolls !

My son swaps minifigs with a girl, in fact my wife likes the houses (she loves the winter toy shop actually).

But maybe we are all in a panic for nothing, lets wait until we get more information and even better....images.

So to then to quote a famous line from a TV series.......DON'T PANIC !

I have to agree. As a female employee of Lego Brand Retail in America, I have girls, relatives of girls, adult women and even a few female teenagers ask me "the question" -- where are the girl sets? To that I say, "Any set can be a 'girl' set. We do have the pink buckets and Belville over there, but many girls like City, Star Wars, Kingdoms, Cars, Harry Potter, PotC, Creator, or Hero Factory sets. Here, let me show you." Basically, it's similar to helping a boy find what he wants, except he probably came in knowing what he wants and very possibly where it is located. A girl may need some help finding what *more specifically* it is she's interested in ... and how to break it to her parent(s) that yes, she does want Lego stuff - just maybe not the pink pieces everyone wants to give her. I try to explain that Lego is not a boys' toy but a people toy, and that playing with Lego sets is okay for a girl to do. I can definitely say that there are times the girls around the Build-A-Mini area outnumber the boys, and that both the boys and girls are looking for the female faces, torsos, and wigs - though the girls are the ones who ask about skirts. :classic:

As a female AFOL, I collect sets from virtually every theme Lego has put out in recent years, including Star Wars, Belville, Cars, Creator, Exclusives, City, etc. - and I grew up collecting Lego Classic Space. I doubt I would have asked for Paradisa as a youngster, but now I would like the variety it would lend to City if it were to re-emerge in a new way. Thankfully, when I was young every minifig had a smiley face (and a helmet), so they could be anyone I wanted them to be. Now, there needs to be a better balance - and TLG is getting closer but could go further without alienating the boys, in my opinion.

Lego doesn't need a "pink" theme as much as it needs to keep going with sets like City Corner, the Medieval Market Village, the Log Cabin, and the discontinued 4WD with Horse Trailer. The minifigs included with the newer Creator sets are also going in the right direction as far as girls are concerned. They like the fact that these sets are now populated. As both a female customer and employee of Lego, I would like to see various City shops, maybe a restaurant or a post office, and more houses - for the girls who come in not wanting pink, just more sets that aren't conflict- or emergency-oriented. And more female minifigs, so they don't have to continually build their own from the Build-A-Mini ... because we keep running out! :sweet:

  5. I have to say, I'm really impressed with the look of the ME Models track. I think the varying lengths of straight track will be very useful, and I can't wait to see how the broader radius curves are going to revolutionize 9V trains. Heck, just the fact that there is a new source of 9v-compatible track will do that!

Something I would love to see down the pike is an acutely-angled cross track, maybe 45 or 60 degrees. TLG only produced a 9V cross track with a 90 degree angle - not a common occurrence in real life. I like the way LEGO set #7996 Train Rail Crossing is a narrow double-crossover track as well as a straight double main line, but not that it is all plastic. I know there are problems with polarity and all, but I would love to see a more prototypical cross track that was 9V-compatible.

And, since I'm airing my "pie-in-the-sky" track wishlist, how about a 9V-compatible wye track? I can only hope and dream ...

Thanks for the new tracks ME Models!

  6. As a Lego Store employee, I would guess that the 'V140' is indeed the corrected version. My store doesn't have any new ones on hand yet, but usually the 'V139' version is a North American version, I believe. The 'V129' version is a European version, if there are differences of some sort. But I am not certain, so please don't take this as "the word according to TLG". It is merely one person's observations and opinion. I would like to know which version you get once it arrives, if you would be so kind. I'd like to know whether I am even close to correct. :classic: Thanks!

  7. I can understand the general consensus that Lego keep lightsabers and their hilts the way they are, so as not to come off as Mega-Blucky  Although I do like the idea of new *colors* for both 'sabers and hilts as Zork mentioned.

Also, I would like to thank CommanderFox for pointing me towards some resources - I do appreciate it. I don't know if/when I'll get around to customizing any lightsabers (since holiday season is here at my Lego Store), but I do hope to eventually make use of the tutorial, brickdoctor's customs, and other materials - giving credit where due, of course. Finally, I apologize for the lateness of my reply - two jobs keep me busy during the week, as you can imagine!

Here's hoping everyone gets their holiday wishlist fulfilled by loved ones. :classic:

  8. I have to saw they don't look to good, although the Jango is slightly better they both are not my type. Do regular legs fit them?

    Thanks for the review.

Unfortunately, regular legs only fit if you are willing to *carefully* shave the extra thickness from the inside of the torso sides. I know, because I had a young customer who got the Jango Fett pen but wanted "proper" legs for him. So I shaved it down for him (with he and his dad watching) and checking the fit as I went. It's not perfect, but better than nothing - after all, many fans of Lego (both kids and adults) can't part with $75 and up for discontinued or limited-edition minifig. Good review and thanks for the heads-up, as I suspect I'll be busy doing more if/when this arrives in my local Lego Store!

  9. Although I understand the idea of white cores for the blades, I think I'd rather see more styles of lightsaber hilts. After all, the blades are all pretty similar except for different colors and sometimes lengths, whereas there are at least 4 very dissimilar types of hilts. I would like to see one that is more conical on the butt end for Plo Koon (and others), a chrome-gold one for Mace Windu, one that's thinner nearest the emitter for Obi-Wan & Luke's final 'sabers, and finally one that's thicker and black for Darth Vader. Just my thoughts on the subject.

Any suggestions on how to modify TLG's existing hilt to better represent the above varieties, please point me in the right direction(s). Thanks! :yoda:

  10. My question to continue the thread is which five musical instrument figs would you most like to see?

    I'd pick

    A jazz saxaphone player

    A rock (electric) guitarist

A piano tutor (old lady and piano using 1x2 printed tiles for keys)

    A brass band tuba player

    A classical violinist

Instead of army builders, people could become orchestra builders!

I really like this idea! I'm the one from BrickFair this year who brought the evolving display of a drum & bugle corps show, and I would love for TLG to produce more instruments. I'm happy to see BrickForge and Amazing Armory doing their parts, but where's LEGO?

    My favorites:

    Saxophone player

    Clarinet player

    Baritone or tuba player

    Doublebass or 'cello player

Marching drummer (snare and/or bass drum) *I customized my drummers' equipment, but I'm sure TLG could make it "legal".

Move to the music, orchestra builders! :classic:

  11. Still, it's kind of a strange choice to make a Diagon Alley set and include a Knockturn alley shop.

I wish they would've kept Knockturn Alley as a seperate future set so this Diagon Alley set could've had another store from... well, Diagon Alley.

Now we only get ONE actual Diagon Alley store.

Oh well. Can't win 'em all... :)

I also feel that another Diagon Alley shop could have been inserted instead of the most well-known Knockturn Alley store. Perhaps the bookstore Flourish & Blotts would be a good choice, as it was seen in The Chamber of Secrets film as well as several of the books.

Of course, modifying and MOC-ing seem to be what we HP fans live by, since I'm sure each of us has a different view of each setting depending on his/her choice of medium to follow (books, movies, or a combo). Let imagination be our guide, and we may yet have a complete Diagon Alley!

Here's hoping TLG recognizes what I have been seeing since the pre-order went live on lego.com - that HP fans are crazy about the re-release of their favorite theme! Working at a local LEGO Brand Retail Store, we have had a *huge* response since the sets came out in store. I hope this goads TLG to continue the theme and give us more HP sets!

  12. Yes, but according to Lego.com this store is not open yet. Coming this summer...

People from Lego Direct also told me this

This is true. There are two New Jersey stores available from NYC though - Paramus and Bridgewater. I know Bridgewater may be a stretch, but we have customers come in from Staten Island and other parts of New York. (Disclaimer: Yes, I work at the Bridgewater store, and no Grand Emporiums here right now unfortunately.) I'm not sure of the best way from NYC to Bridgewater though - I'll try to do some research on it for you when I get a chance. Happy Lego shopping!

  13. Hi, I'm weeble1688 or weeble for short. I've been an AFOL lurker for several years now and have been enjoying everything eurobricks has to offer. I hope to show off some MOCs, sometimes including customized minifigs. Hopefully I will get some pictures up at some point and maybe pick up pointers along the way. :classic:
