Where do you buy your lego from?

I purchase current and new sets from local stores or S@H and sometimes ebay I purchase discountinued set from Ebay or Bricklink, depending on price... just got the city Harbour for $60.00 on ebay I purchase pieces for MOC's or for replacement off Bricklink, just bought 40 pieces of 9v straight track @ $2.29 a piece. I sometimes purchase parts from Ebay (rarely) just got 70 pieces for monorail for $120.00 was cheaper the Bricklink

    starting a town.

Having built 3 Lego cities for my boys and the 4th one is going to be ready for Xmas, Here is what I have learned: 1 - Give yourself a scope for your project : Modern town, mixed europeen, our old style 2 - determine what main Lego elements will be used : ie: 9V train, RC train, Monorail, City Kits, Creator Kits, Custom Mocs etc. 3 - Determine the size of space or room you will use 4 - What dimension will the displays be 5 - **** Get Track designer or something similiar **** 6 - Plan it out in TD or whatever 7 - Make a budget - Our new lego layout has cost me close to $400.00 just in wood, paint, extra track for 9V and Monorail 8 - Decide what road plate you will use = New Grey, New green ( hard to find) , Old green, old Grey 9 - Purchase Big sets early... IE police dept, Fire, Hospital, because if you wait they will double in price on ebay our bricklink 10 - Don't let anyone see the bills.........ahahahahah Good luck... here is our proposed 4th version of our layout vs old layout Marc

Lego collectors with children in the house

Well I have 2 boys, one is 9 and the other is going on 6. They both love playing with lego and have access to all the family LEGO. The bricks are sorted in several bins/rubbermade containers. I have a bin for SPECIAL pieces, one for Doors and Windows, one for wheels, one for plates, one for angle/wedge pieces, one for long 1X? pieces , one for short 1X? pieces, and one for 2X? bricks, and one for minifigs, and one for technics/mindstorm stuff, and finally minifig accessories. The rules are simple: 1 You don't destroy what is built by someone else, 2 you put the legos back in the approriate bin, and you treat the legos with respect... ie they both know how expensive they are because they see the prices in the catalogues that come to the house... and the last rule is No amputations to minifigs... other then that I give them free range... Every birthday, Xmas they ask for more....
