El Bucanero Posted January 17, 2007 ... Huh?How does it look weird...? >_> I mean the colours of the minifig body.. With "it" I meant the whole Davy Jones face..
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 17, 2007 The hat is not much bigger then most minifig hats as for the body, it was a markered-up-spare. I have a fair number of heads and bodies that I markered on back in the day.
El Bucanero Posted January 17, 2007 I believe Davy's hat is a bit lower and a bit more... ehh... Diagonal?? Look at this: This picture is slightly big, but you can see a lot of details on this way!
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 17, 2007 Let us then look at an image that isnt concept art and is what I printed out to make this lil guy from... Anyway, while I do know the hat is off a bit - both in height and shape, but it was EXTREMELY hard to sculpt :/
ghoulrealm Posted January 18, 2007 ... Thus the sheer level of detail that can be attained is far above anything anyone - even a really good sculpey user like Ghoulrealm - can attain with clay. ... :-$ thanks for the compliment. I must point out, you can acheive a "level of detail" with sculpey equal to any compound, but the level of durability leaves much to be desired. The hat is my favorite aspect of this model thus far. If it's too tall, it's only slightly so.
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted January 18, 2007 The hat is built on a cut-down firemans helmet that was rather damaged in the first place. While in retrospect I agree that the front IS too tall, its pretty much too late to do anything about that now :/ However, I mis-sculpted the back, making it a Bicorn rather then a Tricorn. I will be cutting that off and re-sculpting it.
