ybeline Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Salutations! Here is one of my last old-school Star Wars Set reviews! I try my best to give you better than I did before. I took high resolution photos. I tried to brighten them up. Set Name: Hailfire Droid Set Number: 4481 Year of release: 2003 Price: $50 (Lugnet) Parts: 681 Minifigures: none Stickers: none Rubber Bands: some This set is a reference to the Episode II: Attack of the Clones. BOX INSTRUCTIONS (68 pages) Last page: ASSEMBLY Here are the 681 pieces: The first wheel: Locking the wheel: At last: The second wheel......... I really hate this instruction... ^^ Assembly, 2nd part: Here is the arch key ^^ The megagun ^^ (original bands are dead a long time ago :-° ) It can be moved The brain of the droid, I suppose It will surely look like something huge with the rockets! Overall looking: Well, why not ^^ Main colors: brown and grey Accuracy: really good (especially rockets!) Build: 7/10 (2-3h, a little tricky sometimes, a bit repetitive because of wheels) Playability: 10/10 (just amasingly fun ^^) Set functions: 10/10 (it rolls! megagun is cool and it makes a lot of noise when moving) Design: 9/10 (well, I'd prefer it more colored) Overall: 9/10 A very good set! Thanks for reading, Bye! Edited February 8, 2009 by ybeline

Bricks Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Nice review I think this version of the Hailfire Droid is much better than the newer one. Because the new one is a bit to small, isn't it? But this set looks a bit too ''technical'', so maybe it would be better abrogated in the Technical series. Well that's a problem, with I can live Thanks for sharing! voltio Posted February 8, 2009 Thanks, seeing your review makes me wish I had not sold mine! I remember when I bought that set in 2004; back then, most US stores had reduced the price to $30 (I picked up a copy from TRU and saw several at Tuesday Morning), making this baby a steal. The metallic-color parts were a recent innovation and really complemented the rare brown Technic parts well. The set also incorporates a few Bionicle parts, like the disc-shaped silver Bohrok hands. Props to TLG on creativity. As accurate as the 4481 is, playability is its strong suit. The giant dark gray wheels roll great on carpet, grass, or rough tile, and the model is actually quite stable for being a two-wheeler. Even better, the missile rack makes zero attempt at flick-fire "functionality," which makes the model quite sturdy: I have dropped it down the stairs without any damage. Really, this set is one I would have no qualms about purchasing used, since it is so durable.
-JD- Posted February 8, 2009 I remember seeing this set for £5 at a charity shop before I liked LEGO. Never got it. Good review. JD
SWMAN Posted February 8, 2009 I really loved this set. It was big, accurate, and detailed. A lot better than the more recent one.
