Jurassic Park/World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Also waiting for either discounts or a compelling GWP. Not sure which yet. I like the jeep, but undecided whether to get the brachiosaurus with it, or just the dilophosaurus ambush at only $20.

Got and built the Brachiosaurus Discovery set this morning and I absolutely love it! I still wish the Brachiosaurus at least had moveable back legs to pose it up on its back legs but the new molds are fantastic and it's so huge! I was happy to see the body piece and neck were a bit heftier than I expected. I feared they would be super hollow but they're not. My only major complaint with it is all the ugly mold marks all over the poor thing. Lego has been really bad with those since they started changing plastics but it's especially egregious on an otherwise smooth figure.

The Jeep is pretty perfect and super solid. I love that it can hold 4 figures too. The tree build is actually really nice and I really do appreciate how they were able to get 2 important movie scenes out of the same set. The figures are also great, so nice to have John Hammond in the collection. I still wish Alan Grant had the new Indiana Jones hair/hat combo but maybe the designers of this wave didn't know about it at the time. I'm sure he'll reuse that piece in the future though.

Overall, fantastic set, easily my 2nd favorite Jurassic set right after the Ankylosaurus vs Indominus Rex.

Has anyone tried to combine the new visitor center set with the previous 75932 Velociraptor Chase set?

I own that one already and I'm waiting to see if I can combine it with the visitor center before buying!

I feel like Brachiosaurus mocks me when I’m debating to buy it or not…

anyways, i wonder what 2024 will bring us.  It’s quite a dreadful uncertainity.

I. Mean, we still haven’t gotten any new dinosuarus yet,  such as Para, Pachy, Allo, Mosa, Spin, Stego, and their baby verisions (including Petera and T-rex babies).

I idon’t know if an in-house dinosaur-focused theme would fill in gap for a few years?

Don't forget about a compy all they really need to do is either mod the baby raptor or just give it a green decal. I got the brachiosaurus set , if you have any questions about it, if that helps.

It seems like the JP/JW theme is selling reasonably well, so I see them hopefully continuing it next year.

Some more original trilogy sets would of course be amazing, and that could offer breathing room before 2025 with a potential 10 year anniversary for Jurassic World?

As long as we keep getting new dino moulds every year, I'll be happy.  😊

I will be ok with comply wiht a long rubbery neck like a flamingo from CMF S19.

Nd sure you can share your thoughts with us here. I’m interested in learning about Brachiosaurus self.

Probably you are right about 10th anniveary of the first Jurasic World movie but it’s not enough “old”.  So, maybe we would get “legacy” sets for this theme instead? We know Lost World will reach 30 in a few years from now.

I would love to see new dinosaur molds every year! Also, I would be ok with new molds, such as legs, arms, etc. For example, why Therizi has sickle toes?

Just got the atricoraptor bike chase and the T. rex and atricoraptor breakout today, for the latter, the truck is the best part, looks amazing, while the market looks awful, the bike chase looks decent, but still pretty bland, this set contains my first ever t-Rex, very fun to play with

It’s been going non-stop since 2018, with the release of fallen kingdom

2018: fallen kingdom + 1 original film

2019: Lego’s original series, legend of isla nublar + 1 original film

2020: legend of isla nublar

2021: camp Cretaceous sets

2022: dominion + 1 original film

2023: all original film

2024: ????
for me, I’d like to see Lego do sets based off the lost world and Jurassic Park 3, I mean, those films were in the Lego Jurassic World video game, so Lego has no excuse not to make sets, I’m thinking 2024 we get sets from lost world and Jurassic park 3, and 2025 get sets from Jurassic World for the 10th anniversary

I jsut don’t see why we will get the Lost World and JPIII sets next year. So I guess we may have another make-up sets?

Anyways, I just bought the Brachiosaurus figure alone off eBay today. I’m very excited to have my hands on a largest herbivore at last.

Actually…not just pure Legend of Nulbar…. It’s a mix. There was Indrominus vs Ankylosaurus set from the first Jurassici World movie and a few make-up sets.

The indominus vs ankylosaurus is based off an original movie for legend of isla nublar, double trouble, where the indominus has a twin, which is why the indominus is grey in the sets, that’s the twin, whole series is on paramount+, would give you more details, but I don’t have paramount+, here’s the link to the movie on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Jurassic-World-Double-Trouble/dp/B08KPMNMC6

might actually buy the movie, now that it’s on my mind

The I-rexs in that movie are infants there are some flash forwards in the movie but not many. The majority of the movie serves as a continuation of the series.

A few days ago, I was sorting out my old lego for yard sale and there was a blast from past. I found T-Rex, Triceratrops, Pteranodon, AND Steogosaurus pieces that were released in early 2000s. I was simply amazed by these classic Ido pieces. I mean, sure, they are not much moveable or larger than the modern ones. But they just bring me wonderful memories.

I was surprised how different they are from the present-day dinosaur molds. It makes me more curious about the future molds for dinosaurus, like in 2030s or 2040s. I know it’s hard to imagine what they would look like in the future but I sure hope there would be some MORE posable molds, rather than being built out of bricks.

Just got Brachiosaurus figure today. It’s really nice in my hand! Not quite small but not large, it’s good next to T-rex, Tricera, Gigantosaurus and other dinosaur d species (minus pterosaurs becuase they are not dinosaurs).

I understand that everyone wish it is little more posable , such as legs and I do wish too. Maybe Lego will redo the legs in future? Who knows…

Unlike the elephant from the 2021 City subtheme “Wildlife Rescue” I notice that Brachio’s Boyd is not flat. The elephant’s body is very flat with its legs. Lego, pleases redo elephant’s body…

I am going to nickname him “Colossus” lol.

New dinosaurs are great always look forward to getting them, however I am very disappointed with the sets themselves, they are all the same dino, jeep and a bit of foliage. At least in the past we got trucks, planes, helicopters, all terrain vehicles, even motorcycles. A little more variety would have been nice, then there's the visitor center with no vehicle at all. And of course the tiresome price argument, seriously the 211 piece Dilophosaurus chase for $20 is about what you would expect but then we have the 281 piece Triceratops Research set at $50, so $30 more for a slightly larger Dino and 70 extra, rather smallish pieces.

Jurassic Park 2 / The Lost World had scenes with all sorts of vehicles driving along/under dinosaurs, so maybe if they get around making sets specific for that movie,  it'll probably have some different vehicles.  (and dinosaurs like Compsognathus / Stegosaurus / Parasauralophus)

And then possibly the large ship, and red 1969 pontiac from the San Diego scenes.

Or a movie lab / RV from the Lost World.

I get what you're saying about the lack of variety, but to be fair all of these sets are based on the Jurassic Park movie specifically, and they are fairly faithful to what appears on screen. There weren't many other "interesting" vehicles to be included here without making some up and defeating the purpose of a 30th anniversary wave.

I wonder why lego didn't make the brachiosaurus with removable legs, it just seems like a wasted opportunity mainly because they maybe could have used it for a diplodocus by swapping were the legs went, and Maybe even a giant elephant from lord of the rings. As it stands the only thing I can think of for part reuse is using everything but the head and make a Star wars ronto.

As long as we get a Ceratosaurus in Lego form, I'll be happy (And a smaller version of the posable Raptor mold from 2012)

My big want now is a Stegosaurus. That and a hadrosaur mold would seal us pretty much every major herbivore group and most classic herbivorous dinosaurs. That'd give us room for more new dinos -- Triceratops with a new head for Sinoceratops and maybe for Nasutoceratops and Parasaurlophus with new head for Corythosaurus.

The carnivore molds get complicated faster. The small carns... I honestly prefer the older Raptor approach, the articulation is so nice, but I'm also just disappointed the Atrociraptors are small but Velociraptor still big. They don't look right together. A decision really needs to be made there and stuck with - scale accuracy with less articulation or full articulation at cost to scale. We're still really left wanting for the midsize carnivore category. The Indoraptor molds haven't been working great, but the Carnotaurus mold is Rex-sized! We need a good medium carnivore mold. I think arms and tail could be reused but new body and legs would be a must. As for large, I definitely want to see Spinosaurus, for one thing... I actually really like what they did with Giganotosaurus' body, making it noticeably longer than the Indominus or Rex, and it gives me a lot of hope for the large carns.

I'd also really like to see Gallimimus return in a set that works better for flock building!

...

Focusing on vehicles a moment though, the Mobile Command Center from TLW could make an incredible set and I hope it's in the pipeline. I can't think of much from JP3 I'd want to build.
