I'm still looking for solutions. I don't own the set yet, but I've been fiddling around with the digital version as I wait for a discount on the real thing.

The front fairing seems to be about one stud too low as well. Not sure how to correct that yet.

I did litle grill mod. Later I will buy 3x1 Gray tile 

Ok i found some Flat square tiles

Also i dont like how big are thefront  wings 

I tryed to use flags for IT 

 

I moded the side panels i didn't like how they where standing out from the body making IT more squareish. 

I filled up the body with extras panels and other things

The front mudguard is shaped Little better the 5x1 beam was replaced with 2x1 and bionicle tooth center 5x1 whas switched to curved tile

I noticed the price a few days ago and nearly spit out my drink. It's crazy, but this printed parts pack costs more than I paid for the set!

 

I think I'll just go in Stud.io and play around with color schemes until I find one I like. A nice blend of the M colors.

Also, BMW just released the 50th Anniversary Edition of the M 1000 RR in Sao Paolo yellow. I'm thinking LEGO lime green looks closest? Could be nice.

Yes!   Looks pretty good, I think.

I know Sao Paolo Yellow is more yellowish, but Lime is the best we can do with the available parts. I don't even mind the all white livery either, but some color is always nice.

I think the lime version looks pretty ok.

Something that's been holding me back about getting this set is the white panels. Recently I took the 42096 out for a display, and I discovered that the white panels aged horribly. Since then I've been wary of getting sets with white panels.

another option is the Gulf colors, we should have a good selection of blue and orange. I've had zero luck with stud.io, so maybe someone can whip up a pic.

The good thing with Stud.io that you have all colors available.

So getting the BMW in Gulf striping is easy.. (I did not check if the colors really are available)

Together with the "Sao Paulo Yellow" one the are quite the team...

I just purchased the LEGO Technic BMW M1000 RR after seeing @JunkstyleGio ‘s studio render of the BMW M1000 RR - 50 Years M-Edition in São Paulo Yellow posted above.

I hadn’t considered the set when it was released, I’m not really a motorcycle guy and the fact that it was White with 80 odd stickers - it wasn’t appealing.

Last week the set was on special with 20% off so I pulled the trigger on one with the aim of cladding it in Lime parts and minimal stickers. I had a small stash of Lime parts kicking around, left over from Lamborghini Sian changes. The balance of the Lime parts quickly gathered up from local Brick-Link sellers (Wedge behind the seat on it’s way).

 

I enjoyed the process of building the BMW more than the recent Ferrari Daytona SP3. The construction process of building the frame, gearbox (with changes) and fake engine on the work/display stand is a nice touch.

The display stand was built in the Lime hue as well with round feet and two workshop stands (front and rear) in Black. 
I was initially keen to do the M-Sport Motorcycle Floor Mat, but after playing around with the graphic it was going to become too big to replicate well - so just settled for the M-Sport graphic for now.

I have made changes/modifications to a few areas for the first cut:-

*Seat, adding curvature to the edges of the seat cushion. 
*Fuel Tank - Thick Quarter Ellipses and Bionicles (in Black) we’re used to round off the front of the tank. 
*Handlebars - Bull-Horns added as brake levers, Minifigure Head for the reservoir, @Marf ‘s triple tree clamp.

*Headlights - Brick built.

*Wings - Tried a similar modification to @Terron969 using flags to produce a finer example with different mounting point instead of using the heavy Curved Panel part, still a WIP.

*Exhaust - changed to angle to match frame and added a support brace that is common on race bikes.

*Other additions are Printed fuel cap, small Round Tile (BMW Graphic to be added) above front wings, Rear Hugger/Chain-guard, Printed Carbon Tiles, deletion of all Yellow Lift-arms/Axles and the use of a few Black 3L Pins.

I’d like to do a full Alpha Racing/Ilmberger Carbon M1000 RR Race Bike - Yellow/Black colourway and add some Chrome Block City printed Carbon Panels!

Anyway a great build for the cost, I would be keen for another 1:5 scale motorcycle if TLG releases another down the track - with less stickers.

Wow, awesome upgrades.  I just joined here so really haven’t seen much when it comes to modding existing sets.  A whole new world has been opened to me.   Not sure if that’s a good thing yet lol 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

So I am also not a fan of applying lots of stickers, nearly 80 of them wasn't going to happen... I personally think white looks a bit boring for a sports bike so I wanted to do something different. In the end I chose blue. Blue seemed to be a popular colour on the predecessor S1000, so I figured it would look good here as well. Plus it was nice to build a model in this colour as the inventory availability isn't quite there yet for to make a 1:8 supercar... Plus this colour is great for hiding the blue pins! I added a few white accents to match the white around the windscreen, plus built the main stand out of white instead of yellow. I made a few changes to the bodywork similar to @LegoHoops version above, thanks for the ideas and inspiration! I also changed all the unnecessary yellow in the middle of the model to LBG. Overall I really enjoyed this build, would definitely recommend. Crazy thing is I got the model for a heavy discount at an EOFY sale, even with adding the cost of brick-linking the rest of the parts it was still cheaper than what LEGO is selling just the set for...
