LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Recommended Posts

After some deep searching, I have found the pic of Bo-Katan! (Insta has been glitchy lately). Helmet is a tad wonky, but I love her! And a new head to boot! Just reinforces my earlier comment regarding her hairpiece since the band is printed on her head.

Doc Brown wasn’t that old though  It’s probably either the bob hairpiece or the one used for AOTC Obi :shrug_oh_well:

Yeah the one slight issue is it’s the wrong shade of grey but still. I see dark reddish brown tiles going the way of the silver jetpack piece

Does Fennec have arm printing? I think I see two lines going around her wrist, but I’m not sure

Claire's "can I talk to you're manager" hair piece is definitely the best fit for Bo Katan without making a brand new mold.

After seeing the torso leak for Boba, it's even more strange to me that they didn't make the helmet and jetpack dark green. I suppose the printed details would get a bit lost but it would be more accurate. Hopefully they'll change it for BoBF. At least the helmet has a new print. I'm still super happy we're getting this version of Boba though!

I’m not positive, but it sort of looks like Gideon is using this head :https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1429&idColor=88#T=C&C=88, which would be pretty concerning and very inaccurate. Can anyone else tell if this is what that is, and Fennec’s head, for that matter?

Gideon definitely has a new face print - I can see his mustache, but I’m not sure about Fennec’s

I 100% agree with this. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best option out of the existing hairpieces

This hairpiece is surely the only option. It’s bad enough they’re already using the dastan hair for Hunter, would hate to see 2 figures with inaccurate hair in this wave.

Except for the teensy-weensy but ever-so-crucial tiny little detail.. it covers more than half of her headgear......

I like the old prequel Kenobi hairpiece (4530 / 96859) for Bo but it’s been out of production since 2018.

Well, prepare to be disappointed.... Also it's as inaccurate, and even more, a fringe.. for Bo-Katan???

Upon further inspection, there looks like there’s space in the front of the cruiser for a good four rooms, which would be enough to have the trooper bay, Grogu’s jail, the command center (it would be in the wrong place but I doubt you’re fitting jack squat in the bridge) and a hangar bay other then the one in the middle for the TIEs. Might not be as bad as I thought.

also I saw someone bring up “what if there’s microbuilds for the Slave 1 and imp shuttle” and even if there aren’t those will be so much fun to make

I believe the Gideons cruiser is a class 456 cruiser, similar to the Artiquens command cruiser, which is the later version of the light cruiser in CW (I become very knowledgeable on this ship through my research on how to mod this into an Artiquens)

I think you're right, even though things are getting scaled down it seems like lego is learning to make the most of the room they have. The BB shuttle proves that point. I bet there will be some good interior.

I'm also convinced that the new slave 1 will fit a second minifigure.

Ironically this wave while making ToT completely irrelevant has made the Imp Shuttle make somewhat more sense. Throw a hood and a black cape on that Luke and voila. The imp shuttle should have been Koska, Doc Pershing and idk Cara or something tho.

I'm aware this is not a rare opinion, and you are of course entitled to it. For my part the issue is that a lot of the time, people connect the issue to one person based largely on rumours from often dubious sources, and subsequently demonise that person (while simultaneously ignoring the hundreds of others that are involved) based on an entirely subjective viewpoint. Usually it boils down to one or both of Disney = bad or KK = bad, without both of whom we never would have got all the new Star Wars content that you do like, whether that be the Mandalorian, the sequels, Rogue One, the Bad Batch, whatever.

Anyway, if we want to continue the debate let's do it somewhere else or in DMs. I won't say any more on it here.

I couldn't agree more. While there are issues at Lucasfilm and I personally dislike the new trilogy I won't blame Kathleen Kennedy because its not her job to make films and write stories. Its her job to fund projects and greenlight new ones. Blame Rian and JJ for being morons and Kathleen for trusting them but you must give her credit for greenlighting new shows that have been excellent.

Edit: Didn't realize we weren't talking about this anymore; I don't mean to restart any arguments.

It’s just not big enough. I have to wonder if you’ll even be able to fit all the figs inside. This would have really benefited from being a UCS set.

It's already $160, they can't make it much bigger and keep it "affordable", since they seem to not do non-d2cs over $169.99.

Bo's printed head definitely suggests she'll come with some hair, personally I think the hair they used for Snape/Hunter/etc would work well on her.

always gotta keep them darn kids in mind :hmpf_bad: honestly the more I’ve looked at it the less problems I have with it. I think immediately being hypercritical is kind of a reflex after the disaster that was the winter wave and the Bad Batch shuttle being…what it is…with a bit of modding and a PROPER VIEWING ANGLE it’ll be much better I think. it’s like they TRY to make the sets look as horrible as possible in the promo material smh

That's Lego photography for you! Considering some of the amazing work their photographers, marketing and photo-editing people do outside of set design, I don't see why sets are shown in such unappealing ways.

I have tried to calculate the length of the ship and it seems to be around 60-70 studs long, and that's being conservative, however much of that is lost to the forward projections of the hull and the engine assembly, so how much interior space there is is hard to determine.

Except that it's an ugly piece. I'm quite fine with the Dastan hair, thank you.

Ideally, she would need a new mold, but Claire's bob hangs too close the face, whereas the Dastan hair gives Bo-Katan more flow. It's not perfect, but it works. Everytime I see Claire's hairpiece I die a little inside.

Admittedly, this works only for TCW, Claire's hair may make more sense for the Mandalorian version.  unironically, looking closer at Katee Sackhoff's outfit, the Dodonna hair makes more sense than it did to me at first.

Looking back, I think that piece makes a lot of sense. It's a bit too round at the edges (par for the course of its time), but honestly, looking at source pictures, this is the best option.

That being said, its modern counter is the Dastan hair, so...

Either way, we're most likely not getting hair to begin with, so just use whatever piece you wish.

Ah, you are correct! I had always assumed it was a pure Arquitens, but it is slightly different. Same with the Pelta frigate and Phoenix Home. Curious to see what you come up with. :classic:

Not really, considering that we've had printed faces on characters like Jango, Boba, the clones, etc. and they've never come with hair. I'd like to be proven wrong of course.

Of course, there is precedence (Pre Vizsla), so it's possible.

This is one of those things that Wookieepedia has jumped on that I fairly strongly disagree with. The words "class 546 cruiser" appeared in Aurebesh on a viewscreen in The Mando, and the folks over at Wookieepedia have taken that to mean that it is a Class 546 Cruiser and a Class 546 Cruiser only and that that is a wholly different thing from an Arquitens. But... it's obviously an Arquitens. "Class 546 cruiser" may be an additional designation for the class, or that may not have been intended to mean anything much at all (there's plenty of nonsense Aurebesh text in places where you can only see it for a second), but either way the term hasn't appeared anywhere other than that one brief shot of the view screen, and the fact of the matter is that it unquestionably is an Arquitens of some variety. It has the additional small engines that the model in Rebels didn't have, so if somebody wants to call it an Arquitens II, fine, but that's a smaller change than many of the other ships have had when transitioning between animation and live action or vice versa, so the most reasonable course here IMO is to assume it's intended to be a stock Arquitens until somebody explicitly says otherwise. Most importantly, the Databank (which is much firmer canon, since that's coming directly from Disney as an explicitly definitive encyclopedia) still has a single entry for "Imperial Light Cruiser" and says the ship appears in both Rebels and The Mando.

Related to that, the distinction between the Arquitens-class light cruiser (Republic, TCW) and the Arquitens-class command cruiser (Imperial, Rebels) is also canonically much shakier than Wookieepedia makes it look--there are obvious structural differences between the Republic and Imperial ships, especially around the bridge and the engine block, but the idea that those names refer specifically to the Republic and Imperial versions respectively comes from Star Wars: Armada, which is notorious for introducing divisions like that that don't exist literally anywhere else because they've got a game mechanic where each ship model has to have two different classes to choose from. This is why we now have Quasar Fire I vs Quasar Fire II, Gladiator I vs Gladiator II, Acclamator I vs Acclamator II, Nebuon-B Escort Frigate vs Nebulon-B Support Refit, MC80 Assault Cruiser vs MC80 Command Cruiser, Hammerhead Scout Corvette vs Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette, and on and on and on, and while yes, the game is indeed canon so these are all "real", none of them actually exist in any other source (or make much sense in-universe), and I would really advise everyone not to make any important plans hinge on those names being respected by any other Star Wars media.

Snip!

(blinks slowly while trepidatiously putting another red tile down) as far as I’m concerned it’s the funny triangle shaped one that can be made into the other funny triangle shaped one

In all seriousness this is a really cool analysis! I’ve always wondered what happened to the Venators and for some reason my brain just told me they got repainted which obviously makes no sense but does follow with Gideon’s cruiser to an extent.

Epic analysis! So, all told I think putting on a couple of dark red tiles would suffice to make a Republic version.

I think that may be because it's an "Imperial" Light Cruiser, and not a "Republic" Light Cruiser. It's a weird terminology thing I've seen them do before.

EDIT: I'm sure you're aware but to clarify my statement, the Arquitens-class Light Cruiser was first seen in The Clone Wars, most notably during Grievous Intrigue

I didn't look there, I definitely agree with your assessment though.

Actually, they were repainted, as shown at the end of ROTS, though unlike the Artiquens they don't appear for extended periods after the late CW/Rebels era

That would be yours truly! It has occurred to me that some of the advent calendar shuttles and Slave Is in particular would be the perfect size.

I should have clarified. More recently, they've only made unique heads (which rules out the clones) for characters if they include the hair, so the head would be shown. Examples include the bad batch set, probably the best example actually as unique printed heads directly correlate to whether or not that figure has hair (unless they don't have hair on their character, ofc. ToT mando: No unique head, no hair. All clones: No unique head (per clone) no hair. The fact that her headdress thingie was there too also lends support.
