Kai NRG Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Fantastic job Gabe, love the bird's shape and the texturing on the wall is also excellent! It would have been nice to see a picture with just the mount, but still, great work! Quote
grum64 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Oh my. I love the detailing on the wings and head. Very nice I think the name should be changed to Greatest Griffin  Quote
MassEditor Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Stunning build Gabe, such amazing detail! Wonderful shaping of this beast, I imagine this was a challenging build and a ton of work but the results are fantastic. The feathered sections on the back of the wing in particular is very well done, and the surrounding scene works so perfect here. Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (S)He is a noble beast. You can see the beauty yet raw power radiating from your MOC. Also nice details in the background. Quote
Cara Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Wonderful brick built wings. The build looks so impressive then you realise wow its on such a tiny base and there is all that detail! Love it! Quote
Mike S Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Great build as usual! That beak is fantastic and I like how you made the nest! Quote
Garmadon Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Amazing entry, Gabe, excellent shape and colors on the griffin Awesome job with the wall, rock-work and building as well - this is definitely one of my favorite entries Quote
Gabe Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Thankyou again everyone for your kind and encouraging comments! Just gorgeous, beautiful shaping as usual. I especially love the beak. Cheers Tyler, i take that as high praise, coming as it does from a master of shaping such as yourself! It would have been nice to see a picture with just the mount, but still, great work! Ah yeah, whoops, i forgot to take that shot on the weekend. Sorry! Glad you like what you can see though. Quote
mrcp6d Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Amazing Gabe, you never fail to impress! Quote
Emma Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Really beautiful build Gabe! Not only is the griffin wonderfully shaped (I especially like the wings), the base is also well executed - the perfect backdrop for such a lovely creature. I think the front claws might have benefited from a slightly more claw-like appearance (maybe something similar to the Creator Eagle's feet). And, maybe it's just me, but I find the brown at the top of the head, along with the 1x1 white round plate looks a bit like a Santa hat at certain angles . Edited September 3, 2014 by Emma Quote
mccoyed Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Awesome griffin. I thought about doing a griffin also back when I was trying to decide between the 600 ideas I had for Mount Up! haha. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Sweet griffin The wings are especially impressive I'm not a big fan of how the brown continues up the back of the head, but I guess that color blocking is part of what makes it a griffin. The backdrop for the beast is equally stunning, I always enjoy seeing your Kaliphlin buildings. The use of the chrome hitch things (not really sure what they are, I do have one though) on top of the roof is very neat. Some pictures showing the griffin and wall separately would be nice Quote

Haha omg, now i can't unsee the santa hat either, cheers for that! I know what you mean about the front claws, i tried a few different things but i seem to recall that everything else i tried mucked up the scale of the beast somewhat. Awesome griffin. I thought about doing a griffin also back when I was trying to decide between the 600 ideas I had for Mount Up! haha. Thanks mccoyed! Yeah i had a few ideas for this challenge as well. A mounted stingray was one of the ideas i regretfully set to one side to work on this. (i'm still seeing that santa hat.. damn! ) Ok, with two requests for a separate pic of the griffin by itself, i'll try to get something up today. Quote
