Zerobricks Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 As topic say quantity-wise which parts is the most widely produced? Anyone care to explore a bit? Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I'd pit my money on the 1x1 brick. I'd say about 90-95% of all my factory sets (Town/City/Train) have a couple of them. I'm sure that piece is just as common across other themes, as well. For a more general answer, I'd probably bet on the tire (non-specific tread) Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 What about the friction black pin? Quote
Modelmaker Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I'd guess that since the start of Lego it would have to be the 2x4 brick, but today its probably the tyre. I was thinking of a similar question. What is the most produced colour? I'm guessing White. But what is the rarest colour and part? Quote

I was thinking of a similar question. What is the most produced colour? I'm guessing White. But what is the rarest colour and part? By part, probably this: This brick is 25.65g of 14K gold (0.8246 troy oz). The brick is the same size and shape as the original 2x4 LEGO brick. This incedibly rare piece was given to LEGO employees that had 25 years of employment at the Hohenwestedt, Germany factory and was also given to couple of very special business partners of LEGO of the time. It was only given out from about 1979-1981, only one or 2 per year from my understanding. This amazing brick comes in its original display box which features the LEGO logo of the time that it was given out. The box itself is plastic and has a minor amount of storage wear on it. http://www.brickenvy.com/Shop/p-482-14k-Solid-Gold-LEGO-Employee-Brick-2x4-Brick-in-Display-Box.html Quote
Boulderer Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Looking at rebrickable, the most common part (ignoring colour) appears to be the friction pin. The 1x1 looks to be coming in around 5th place Quote
BimmerBoy Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I have built up a huge supply of 1 x 1 round plates and black friction pins just from the spares that come with every set I've bought. Quote
Modelmaker Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 By part, probably this: http://www.brickenvy...isplay-Box.html That doesn't have LEGO printed on the studs. Must be fake Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That doesn't have LEGO printed on the studs. Must be fake $15k for a clone? I bet it isn't even Megablox quality ! Quote
plew2000 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I would bet on the black technic pin. I don't know what it is called but y'all know what I mean. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 I would bet on the black technic pin. I don't know what it is called but y'all know what I mean. I think that too, but which database would be the most reliable to confirm that? Quote
plew2000 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I think that too, but which database would be the most reliable to confirm that? I have found nothing, but I will keep looking. This site has lots of awesome facts about Lego, but I could not find if it stated what the most produced piece is.http://education.lego.com/en-us/about-us/lego-education-worldwide/lego-facts Quote
dr_spock Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I think that too, but which database would be the most reliable to confirm that? Maybe LEGO internal production DB. Hmm, how to get access. Quote
KCMatze Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Really interesting topic. My guesses would also be the 2x4 brick or the technic pins (not really sure how they are actually called, so those: Quote
Tariq j Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Great topic. I'd say the tyre piece, the stud, the 2 by 4 piece as mentioned above or maybe even a window piece. The Grand Emporium has a lot of window pieces plus all the other modulars and city sets do as well. Quote
montgocloud Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 On the LEGO Inside Tour one of the heads at the factory stated that the highest produced part is the technic pin. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Okay...Guess we found it... Now whats the second most produced part Quote
antp Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 For the next places, if you include all produced parts and not only those included in sets, the 2x4 bricks and other classic bricks like that may have a high production number because of their use in a lot of giant Lego sculptures in parks and for events.
