Doc_Brown Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 It's uncategorical A fuel burning oracle A fantasmagorical machine It's more than spectacular To use the vernacular It's wizard, it's smashing, it's keen Oh Chitty you Chitty pretty Chitty Bang Bang Chitty Chitty Bang Bang We love you, And Chitty our Chitty pretty Chitty Bang Bang Chitty Chitty Bang Bang loves us too High Chitty low Chitty anywhere we go On Chitty Chitty we depend Bang Bang Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Our fine four fendered friend  (its wizard??? Is that where it came from? LOL) HAHAHA, anyways, here is where I'm up to so far, tricky leaf spring suspension has slowed me down a lot. I'm now looking at the good bit! working out how to make the wings! Stage 1: Wings extend out Stage 2: prop shaft lifts up to vertical position Stage 3: propeller opens up like an umbrella Stage 4: propeller spins and lifts the car I will stress this full automation is never seen in the movie, that I have watched a few times in the last few days. Just some clever editing, probably the mechanics failed on set and resulted in the prop boy working it out of sight of the camera. "Oh the posh posh traveling life, the traveling life for me First cabin and captain's table regal company" Sorry, really stuck in my head! So I'm wondering if this is really possible? I'm excited at the challenge! Yes I sprayed the wheels red, and I know they are too dark, haha. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.
Azzepa Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Chitty! Love that film! Great progress you've made there, and the wheel colour is brill Intrigued to see how you get the wings and prop to deploy, that's going to be a challenge and a half right? "Your sleek as a thoroughbred. Your seats are a feather bed. You'll turn everybody's head today. We'll glide on our motor trip With pride in our ownership The envy of all we survey. Oh Chitty You Chitty Pretty Chitty Bang Bang Chitty Chitty Bang Bang We love you."

locoworks Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 i guess you could use sails as the wings?? the ones in the tall ships?
whale2 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Leaf springs are great. How hard are them in this setup?
Doc_Brown Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks for the nice comments guys. Chitty! Love that film! One Chitty coming right up! i guess you could use sails as the wings?? the ones in the tall ships? Thats a great idea! I will look into that, cheers. Leaf springs are great. How hard are them in this setup? A little soft actually. 600g more will be as much as it can take. Hopefully it will be enough. Here are some detail pics.

dhc6twinotter Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Awesome! I just watched the 1st half of the movie again a few months ago with my nieces and nephew. I thought it looked like a great LEGO project, and it's awesome to see you building this!
Zerobricks Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Great idea for the project and lovely springs!
grum64 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Love this film. I watched it at the weekend & wondered whether anyone had built or would build a LEGO Chitty. I'll be following this with great interest.
Graydingo Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Yes. Don't abandon this project. That chassis is beautiful. Seems it might need a model team style body
Smunday Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 What happened with this project? Has it been abandoned
Milan Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Just now, Smunday said: What happened with this project? Has it been abandoned Hi Smunday, as you can see by hovering over OP's profile name, he hasn't been around since February. He also does not follow this topic. So, better to not revive such old topic, as it is clear that there were no response from him for a four years.
