As both a fan of the Lord of the Rings and of yellow minifigs, I had to mod my minifigs of the Fellowship of the Ring to change their skin tone. Along the way, I also added some third party pieces such as the BrickForge staff and sword for Gandalf, and the BrickArms sword for Boromir.

I actually created these minifigs a long time ago but have only recently got the IT necessary to post the pic below. Since the picture was taken, I have made a few additional changes such as removing Frodo's tear.

Looks nice! I usually go "fleshy" for modern minifigures so that my civilians match my superheroes, but since I have a lot of knights and kings and such from Castle themes, I like yellow for my fantasy / medieval type minifigures, so I'm happy to see how well this works.

Yes, Captain, Legolas's ears are indeed yellow. I used a Sharpie plus a coat of Humbrol satin for permanency. I generally don't go in for re-colouring parts, but I prefer it to fleshy bits.
