Lipko Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) I have been working on this model in the last few months. It is the chassis of a German touring car (DTM series). Features: Steering with HOG and working steering wheel Full suspension using the new hubs. The first suspension is a modified version of Crowkillers' suspension. Rear wheel drive 3+R manual transmission (maybe it will be replaced with an 5+R later) V8 fake engine Functional rollcage Modular design Can be rebuild to a fully remote controlled car in a few minutes Due to the modular design, it can be rebuild to a remote controlled vehicle with a 2 speed transmission. Two L engines for propulsion, a servo for steering and M motor for switching gears. The body will be an Audi RS5. Or BMW. Or Mercedes, whatever can be modelled nicely. Will post some more pictures of the RC version tomorrow. Brickshelf gallery Edited November 9, 2013 by Lipko Quote
Lakop Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Brilliant work in progress! I like your choice of suspension. I'm wondering what colour scheme you will use for the body and am looking forward to the completed model. H Quote
Junpei Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Nice work! I really like the use of 6L and 9L links for the bodywork. Quote
Jim Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 That's a very nice creation! Looks cool already, even without the body. Quote
z3_2drive Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I only saw the title and went nuts, I love Touring cars! Looks fantastic already, especially the rear  Quote
TinkerBrick Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 The roll cage looks great. Is the push rod suspension on the rear axle working fine, or is the too much play due to not using a ball joint? Quote
Lipko Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Thanks for the comments! The rear suspension works fine. There is a little play, but it's only noticeable if the model is lifted. The play in the hubs themselves are bigger. I showed it on a meeting, and an experienced builder (Mbmc) said that it is very precise, unlike many push-rod systems. It's much better than the suspension of 42000, where the pushrod touches a liftarm which causes a lot of friction. One of the main goal is to make a playable model, that's why I keep it simple. It's going fine, the functions work flawlessly, the model is sturdy, you can grab it pretty much anywhere, you don't have to be cautious when using it, etc. Simply put, it's fun to play with. Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Awesome looking and working model. The suspension is really cool! Quote
Balrog Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Oh man. You just want to have me build something else from you so "your creation" stays on my shelf :P Quote
Junpei Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I just noticed, what are the two u-joint shafts in the front for? Two steering wheels? Quote
legomuppet9 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Beautiful model so far I think a mercedes would be the most interesting to model Quote
Lipko Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Some pictures about the remote controlled version and the modules: Quote
efferman Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Very cool chassis, i would prefer a BMW body for it. Quote
Lakop Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Now I need to buy some 42000 suspension parts. H Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Looks very good,I would like a MB CLK-GTR body. Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Awesome chassis! I think you should make an Audi or Vauxhall/Opel body for it. :) Edited November 10, 2013 by MrNumbskull13 Quote
zux Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Oh man I like DTM cars, no matter what body you'll implement the chassis is very cool already. Quote
Kronos Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 This looks awesome Lipko! I like how you made RC an option. You did the same thing with your ACC car right? Quote
skriblez Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Very nice work. Awesome looking even without the body :) Quote
Lipko Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks for your comments! Yup, the little ACC car has the same option. The reason was that I wanted to take both models to the meeting, but I only have 2 L motors and 1 servo. Otherwise I would have just rebuilt the "Kisauto". Quote
D3K Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Opel Team Phoenix perhaps? Love dtm, very cool build! Quote
Robert M Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) Wow, never thought i'd see Technic Porn, that chassis is just damn right beautiful... wish I had the pieces :( How different is V8 Supercars? Could it have a Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore body? That would be ace. Edited November 10, 2013 by Robert M Quote
Rishab N Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Nice car!I think a Mercedes would look really nice Quote
timslegos Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 Looks good so far! How well does it drive? tim Quote
