It's museum week! My first MOC modular:

museum_front.jpg

OK, so it isn't exactly a proper modular since the facade is entirely part of the 1st floor.

The first floor features an atrium, Ancient Egyptian gallery, and gift shop/cafe.

The galleries on the 2nd floor are Ancient Rome, Medieval, Asia, and Americas.

With the roof on. Skylight looks down to the atrium.

Thanks for looking!

oh wow, this is beautiful, thanks for sharing, I think you did a fantastic job. I might like a bit of color more on the facade, maybe the sea shells in a dark blue or black, but I really like how you put this together, and the pic down the skylight of the atrium is a great touch. This is a nice MOC, excellent job!

I'm digging the facade - it's got plenty of detail and I think the monochromatic theme works well. I like all the exhibits you've managed to get in this and the fact that you've themed each of the rooms is very realistic, but I think it's the atrium sets this Museum apart.

TrentonC's comment about the roof was a bit harsh, but it's easy enough to add water towers, A/C units, solar panels, or a roof top garden if you want to dress it up. But either way it really does look good and overall this is the kind of place your minifigs could wander around and spend a very pleasant afternoon in :classic:

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Oh, and the use of 1 x 4 Tile with police lettering on the top of the second floor made me smile.

Nice moc. I like that eventhough the exterior is mostly white , it doesnt look bland or devoid of details. The roof , however, could use a little more work. May be a bigger glass roof.

As a whole your MOC looks great, but the roof seems plain and boring.

Thanks for feedback! I'll think about that roof. I had a snack bar and tables up there, but took them down because they messed up the street view of the building. Maybe some little details like planter boxes will work? For now, at least one of the minifigs seems to be enjoying it! ;)

Yes, they needed something to do. I don't have the cinema yet. Window shopping at the Grand Emporium gets old fast.

Well, good marble like that shouldn't go to waste!

Thanks for your other feedback. I'm thinking about how to dress up that roof now...

I enjoy the way the back/2nd floor of the museum fits into the base made of the bottom floor and facade. Good creation and placement of stairs. I would have probably over-thought it and tried to make the second floor swing out on the sides. My favorite pic is of the stocking-capped fellow in the hallway. It inspires me to build a museum for all the relics in my collection. Much rather they be on display than buried in a tupperware somewhere.

I think this is an excellent museum as is, but I know what would happen if it was in my town. I think of how there would be "new owners" and how they may try to spruce it up. This seems to always happen to museums. Some new director wants an edible garden and coi pond on the roof. Or to put some crazy modern addition on the back.

Me, I like it. I would like to see some crooks and how they plan their heist through the corridors. Find a way to nip that threepio head.

Thanks for sharing!

One of the best museums I've seen. You've captured the neoclassical style quite well imho. The interior is well thought out, with the tall atrium and the different rooms. Really nice!

I really like this, my favourite aspect being that nice Egyptian collection. Concerning the roof I think the idea of having a complete glass roof - and putting the best exhibits underneath - would be quite nice.

This is a very well put together modular. The facade is well done and the details in the interior are fantastic. I love the photo of the view from the top of the atrium, that looks great! In regards to the roof, I don't think roofs need to be that interesting, in real life roofs are pretty boring so I wouldn't expect every building in a LEGO town to have really interesting roofs... Just my thought...

Fantastic build overall! I look forward to the next, happy building

On the other hand, most of what we see when looking at a Lego town from a human perspective are - roofs.

Nice work, I really like the idea of the atrium, makes it look inviting to go inside. The only thing I find unusual is the larger window above the smaller one at the front. I don't think I've seen that before, is it based on a real building?

Good choice using white as an interior colour, it bring attention to all the items inside.

Keep up the good work!

I didn't base it on one building, but used a few photos for inspiration. The one with windows like this was a circa 1920 bank. So I guess to be accurate... this modular is 20th century faux neo-classical rather than 19th century classic neo-classical. I live in LA so maybe it doesn't look "old" to me without a touch of art deco. ;)

Plus, as an artist, it appeals to me that the windows are the reverse of the building which is visually divided as short over tall.
