I'd love a couple of new instruments if the next one is a music shop. Quote

I think they got it for "free" from Vidiyo after it retired early, so do not expect any new moulds with the modulars if that is the only one we have gotten Quote

If that's the case, makes me wonder what architectural style they would go for. Like how some in the real world are just tucked away in some old brick building, and others try and play up the "retro" or vintage theme on the outside. Quote

They get newly available moulds, but not things specifically made for them. Of course, LEGO makes the rules and can change them at any time. Jazz club got a previously unreleased double bass, but that was made for Vidiyo and then never released. Edit: didn't see the next page of replies to this! Ha! Before Vidiyo could get discontinued, they were very lucky to get that double bass mold. Correction: that double bass piece was not released in Vidiyo theme as it was discontinued. Lucky for designers to get that piece! I still can’t believe there is no a trumpet mold yet! Quote
lifeinplastic Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I wonder if there were any other Vidyo moulds not released and therefore more instruments hiding. Probably would have seen them by now though I guess. Quote

We have another couple of years before the 'five-year rule' for retiring unused moulds, so if there are any more, there's a small chance they could come out. Quote

Borex Posted September 26 Posted September 26 A music shop with music albums would be great. Musical instruments, meh. A furniture shop could be cool, but i really hope they sell more than one couch, a table, two cupboards, a vase and a lamp. Quote
HibiscusDrive Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) I could totally see them making a furniture store, with all the creative ways they've made furniture over the years, and small furniture pieces uses a lot of small pieces, which seems to be the Lego M.O. these days. The only problem with it is, how do you fit all the furniture into a small space, a space made even smaller by a potential music shop. Here's an idea... what if it were a furniture shop, meaning a furniture workshop that built furniture? Then you wouldn't need all kinds of furniture pieces; you could just have a few that the carpenter was working on at the time. Edited September 27 by HibiscusDrive Quote

How does it compare to most other modulars? Ignoring the average selling price now (and I've told the seller that it goes for $700-$1000), would you spend $300 for it? I've largely ignored it because it's so expensive. It's one of four that I don't have (Cafe Corner, Market Street, Town Hall) and of those I think it's the best. The exterior looks good, but it's too tall compared most others and feels like a slightly different scale. The interior either feels clunky or is non-existent. Is it just scarcity and people being completionist that drives up the cost, or is it really that good? Of the 4 you don't have, Green Grocer is my favorite; I would get it. Maybe it was the interiors, but GG seems like that was the first to have the spirit of modulars today. Cafe Corner & Market Street were just large buildings, in a way we never saw before, but didn't have a pulse to them the way Green Grocer and all subsequent modulars have. And don't take that as me not liking Cafe Corner & Market Street; it's just that the interiors from GG > present really do something for me. Edited September 27 by HibiscusDrive Quote

Honestly I think if the rumor were a bit off, and this turned out to instead be a "toy store" then the interiors could contain a lot of fun little builds and prints. The floor area of a modular is very very restricted to fit in a lot of meaningful furniture builds. Quote

I still can’t believe we don’t get a Toy Story module building as ther was already one in Winter Village. Anyways, we will see how they manage the floor layout for furniture store. Quote
BrickFit26 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 @hikoukiyea, it all depends I guess on how much space each store will get. Im assuming the furniture more will get more floor space. O just wouldnt want to see it empty of furniture like the Book Shop had very little books. Quote

As i said in a previous page, I was wondering how could they handle with back (or storage) room and space for distribution (such as a garage area for pickup / delivery). That floor layout might be tricky for ground floor when it comes to number of furniture. Otherwise, there might not be a garage area and/or back room. Quote
jonney Posted October 6 Posted October 6 I think by music store the rumor surely means a record shop since we have an instrument shop in Assembly Square already. Could be really awesome to see printed tiles with brick versions of famous albums. A record shop is my number 2 most wanted modular after a post office though so maybe it's just wishful thinking. I love the idea of a strip mall type building as well. Quote
Dazz Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Just a heads up for those still wanting to add the Natural History Museum to their collection. Looks like this set will retire next year, at least according to reddit. LEGO Retiring Sets Update Quote
BrickFit26 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 (edited) Hmmm. If thats true that next year the NHM will let retire maybe that'll mean another big 48x32 modular for the year 2027 and 20th anniversary. Edited October 10 by BrickFit26 Quote
HibiscusDrive Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I've been more thinking about the potential of a furniture workshop/store concept.... In the Tudor Corner, look how many different clock designs they put in there. Sure furniture is bigger, but some different chair designs, whether it's a kitchen chair or armchair. A new bed design, end table, etc. Items in progress, etc. Maybe the stairs go up to a record store, with a some 2x2 tiles to look like records. 2x2 & 2x3 tiles for posters on the wall. I personally turned my Book Shop set into a record store and did this with decorated tiles, and put decorated 2x2/2x3's on the side wall of the building to advertise not-real bands on the tiles. That little nook the stairs led up to I turned into a record-listening center the way some record stores let you do. We clearly don't know if the rumor of furniture store/record store is accurate, but if it is, I could see the above as having potential. Quote
Lion King Posted October 8 Posted October 8 I wonder if Natural History Museum is not going to retire alone next year, maybe along with Boutique Hotel? If I remember correctly, Police Station, Bookshop and Assembly Square got retired after Natural History Museum’s reveal in 2023. I’m kinda surprised that Natural History Museum won’t last longer than 4 years (Dec 2023 - ??? 2026), although it would make sense for 20th anniversary set, yet another expansive one. Quote

BrickFit26 Posted October 10 Posted October 10 @hikouki maybe. It also seems they only like to keep a small amount available like 3 a time. Maybe these inflation prices were just too much. Quote
Lion King Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Who knows? Assembly Square lasted for 7 years and now Natural History Museum reaches its end next year. I assume Bouitque Hotel will last for a few more years as it’s a 15th anniversary set. And I’m pretty sure most of us know that Jazz Club doesn’t sell well but no idea when it will be retired. Natural History Museum’s retirement probably doesn’t tell us anything about a 20th anniversary set. Quote
jde91 Posted October 10 Posted October 10 Boutique Hotel retires this year along with the jazz club. I'm excited for the next model, but furniture store/music shop doesn't sound that interesting to me! Although to be honest i can't really think of many idea that would excite me. I think a hosptal us unrealistic, it would look silly on such a small base plate, a doctors office and pharmacy however could be cute. Other then that, the only other ideas are; Library post office Antique store Fancy dress store Tourist information centre Quote
