temes Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I like the layout and I think it looks better when combined with other modulars than on its own, but... maybe it's trying a bit too hard to be different and unique? However, what bothers me most is the lack of architectural consistency. Previous modulars had clear real-world counterparts, but this one doesn’t have that, and the end result is a messy mix of random styles and decorations. Quote
karrit Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 I'm not sure about this one yet. I like the looks of the buildings. I think the instrument shop & furniture shop should have been reversed. While the marching band idea is interesting, without a people pack or a similar type set it won't be easy to build up the band. I agree with others that they need to mold more instruments rather than relying on bulky brick built versions. Would have been nice to see some dark red on one of the buildings rather than all the white. Like maybe they should consider using a red toned roof instead of earth blue for a change and earth green instead of sand green all the time. And a bit of a garden or park in the back instead of all those blank studs would have been interesting. The cat statue is quirky but without a backstory it doesn't make any sense. Quote
DonQuixote Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 €250 for a regular modular on a standard baseplate seems a bit overpriced. Is Lego raising their prices again? €230 was the previous price for a regular modular. Quote
Lion King Posted December 6, 2025 Posted December 6, 2025 Is everyone fine with GWPs being paired with modular building sets upon purchase? Or, rather, vehicles are included into the actual sets like Downtown Diner and Corner Garage? Like @karrit said, the marching band is an interesting idea without a people pack. I feel vintage parade car should be included in Shopping Street. 3 hours ago, DonQuixote said: €250 for a regular modular on a standard baseplate seems a bit overpriced. From Boutique Hotel to Tudor Corner (ignoring Natural History Museum), i feel like it’s too early for Lego to increase a price. Given piece counts, I could see why they decided to tag it $250. Or maybe becuase of inflation. Quote
Hippocampe Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 It’s the repetitiveness that is annoying me: a music instrument store like in AS, the round shape corner like BH; there are so many architectural styles around the world not to repeat the same patterns on such a short notice… It is not yet the 20th anniversary of Modulars to put some Easter eggs of past buildings like it was the case in AS for the 10th anniversary. It is as if the designer had wanted to do an extreme exercise of angles to prove to the Lego world what can be done. OK for the prowess, but the final result is not as convincing as the past 5 or 10 last Modulars. So little surface area also for each floor interiors… Quote

No, not jsut “too many” there are are some large pieces like sand green 1x8 bricks.and i think modified 1x2 brick with groove in the said color is also expensive. Quote

I feel vintage parade car should be included in Shopping Street. I'm torn. On one hand, I like having the most in a set when it feels thematically connected. On the other hand, these being GWP means the designers can do some extra art as stickers (like the vintage version of the Cargo logo on the Moving Truck) without impacting the budget of the main sets. And yes, for such small sets, I don't mind applying a single sheet of stickers. Weird thing to note is that all modular-related GWP before the Corner Kiosk were offered months after the release of a modular, at multiple occasions and with more options than buying one specific set. Between that and making a GWP related to a big 18+ set only available for that set's launch, there's no better option right now... Still, I'm glad that for modulars, the designers are consistent with the vintage style. Quote
hikouki Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 I am curious if someone here has data on how long each modular was on shelves? (As a surrogate of how popular each was, not having any access to any sales figures from Lego itself). Quote

Assembly Square (7 years) and Parisian Restaurant (6 years) had the longest runs, Cafe Corner and Corner Garage the shortest, both 2 years and 9 months. Silverhurst Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 I think SS would look good with the police station on the left and the Parisienne Restaurant on the right, but against all buildings I feel like the music shop building in SS is about 2 plates too short. The Detectives Office would look good on the left if you did a recolor of the upper floors above Al's barbershop. In any case the rise in price will make me wait or skip it completely. Quote

Market Street had the shortest run, with less than 2 years according to the dates on Brick Economy. It was retired before Café Corner, even before Fire Brigade was released. 12 hours ago, hikouki said: I am curious if someone here has data on how long each modular was on shelves? I doubt popularity is the only thing to be taken into account about whether a set gets retired or not. I believe part production and availability also matters. And in some cases where a new set is too similar in some aspect to another, the older one gets retired before the other one is released. Like AS being retired just as NHM got released because they both sit on 1.5 baseplates. Edited December 8, 2025 by Pauolo Quote
BrickFit26 Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 I'm not happy about the price increase either. I'll most likely wait until it goes on sale which would be around the time it's going to retire, but even this year the 20% discount of the BH and JC weren't as good as other past modulars that retired which were 30% off. Anyone else notice that? Quote
jonwil Posted December 9, 2025 Posted December 9, 2025 I like this and would definitely add it to the collection if I could afford one. Hopefully the marching band uniforms make it to PaB so I can get some. Although at least the instruments don't seem to have anything special and should be easy to re-create (and even if there are parts in there that are new, they aren't the sort of parts LEGO would hold back from PaB as far as I can tell) Quote
Lion King Posted December 16, 2025 Posted December 16, 2025 Does anyone know when Vintage Parade Car GWP will be avail even? I think I read somewhere here that it should be January 1 but i might be wrong. Quote

Thanks! Yeah. If I remember correctly, there is no modular GWP pairing up wiht Modular Building sets in a few past years. Quote

If I remember correctly, there is no modular GWP pairing up wiht Modular Building sets in a few past years. Not entirely. Last year, Tudor Corner got 40757 Corner Kiosk as an exclusive GWP. The year before, 40681Retro Food Truck was linked with the Natural History Museum, shown in some of the press photos, but was available on any general spend, and released several months later than the modular. The year before that, 40586 Moving Truck was linked with the Jazz Club, but again available on any general spend, and also released later. So they've not been entirely consistent with it in terms of specific purchase pairing, or even direct theme pairing, but they are usually linked in some form. Quote
Pauolo Posted December 17, 2025 Posted December 17, 2025 (edited) I think it's better that this kind of GWP is not tied to a specific set's launch, and be proposed on more than one occasion. Lego have been pushing their luck with launch-exclusive GWP too much lately... Edited December 17, 2025 by Pauolo Quote

Pauolo Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 (edited) Speaking of modular-related GWP, I hope that the winner of the current City Life Creations challenge on Ideas fits the retro aesthetics of modulars rather than the modern look of City sets. And that it's buyable with Insiders points like the Flying Moon Car (40789) instead of requiring a certain pay treshold. I submitted a set to that challenge and just received yestersay the parts I ordered to build it. Even if it doesn't win, I'm still glad I submitted it. Edited December 18, 2025 by Pauolo Quote

Thanks! 😁 On another subject, I think it's a shame that Lego didn't make more modular-compatible sets as part of their seasonal themes (Winter Village, Lunar New Year, Easter, Halloween, etc...). More parks like 80107 would have been great, like a a snowy one with a Christmas market as part of Winter Village for example. Quote
