Flare Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Excellent review, MB! That looks really impressive, definitely one of the best Technic sets ever released Quote
Masked Builder Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 How did you get one so soon? It still doesn't show up anywhere on lego.com It was sent to me from LEGO. How fast is it going? Not to sure. Fairly fast, and much faster than I expected it to go. I'm pretty sure it goes 10' in 10 seconds. Quote
N-4K0 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Some refer our car as "2nd wife". I felt a little odd when I read "she" but it doesn't matter because this review ignite the awesomenomity! Well, I should rather say - I have always heard cars described as "he", when such a term is used. I don't know how others in Norway view it. I'm not a big fan of cars in general, but this set looks great, so I voted for "Above Average". Quote
Rufus Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Excellent review dude! That's one massive set, and these are tricky to review with such style. Love the video! I have no room for this amount of Technic in my life, but if I did, I'd be sure to get this. It's a superb collectors' piece, and I reckon I'd learn an awful lot from building it. Quote
peter_m Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Via S@H it will probably cost $240 here where I live (from what I have seen "$199" sets usually cost that much) - do you think the set is worth that money taking into account part list (let's forget about it being limited)? Carrera124 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I decided to stop buying studless technic sets, but I probably will make an exception for this set. Quote
Aussie BJ Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Many thanks for the great review. This will be one of the must have sets so what ever the price it will be worth it. That's if you can get one. I reckon they will sell out in a few days with plenty of people buying up 5 or more sets at a time. TLG should limit it to 1 per customer but sadly that won't happen. Quote
Zzz Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 This might be my first Technic set after 20 years.. I have to admit that the dark blue really attracts me. It's perhaps my favorite Lego color. Quote
The Ghost Racer Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 After seeing this review, I want to buy this set. Great review. Quote
Masked Builder Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Glad you all liked the review! Excellent review dude! That's one massive set, and these are tricky to review with such style. Love the video! I have no room for this amount of Technic in my life, but if I did, I'd be sure to get this. It's a superb collectors' piece, and I reckon I'd learn an awful lot from building it. Thanks. I was slightly worried about the video. Via S@H it will probably cost $240 here where I live (from what I have seen "$199" sets usually cost that much) - do you think the set is worth that money taking into account part list (let's forget about it being limited)? I would say so yes. Quote
Wolfbear Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Great review. Thanks for the breakdown. I am drooling now. Can't wait for this set to be released to the public. So excited! Quote
Alternator Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) I'm really torn on this one; as a standalone set it's quite a cool set and it has that "limited edition" factor, but on the other hand I have the 9398 and so a lot of what this set offers is already covered for me. Obviously the 41999 looks better, not that I have any issue with how the 9398 looks... This is going to be a hard call. Is there a side by side comparison shot of those two models? theultimatetoa001 Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I really want to see this set compared to the original 4X4 Crawler. Quote
Studio Draven Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) Great review, as always! And what a gorgeous design; this takes the original Crawler and turns the cool factor up to 11. If I could afford to splash out on it, LOVE that license plate idea. I would in a heartbeat. Edited July 13, 2013 by Studio Draven Quote
legotechnicblue Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Yes the license plate idea was so smart. I wonder what my number will be? Quote
radiant7 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I wish Lego had used white beams for the chassis, or even dark red. Bright red is way overused in Technic and looks garish against the blue parts. It's still much more attractive to me than the original 4x4 Crawler, which I feel looks dull and uninspired compared to the cool concept car aesthetic of the 8466 Off-Roader from 2001. The all studless design is also a severe turn-off in terms of how enjoyable the building process is. I very much miss the kit design from 1996 to 2005 where there was a greater variety of parts with an excellent balance between studded and studless, plus normal plates and bricks with few pins. Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Studded design ain't coming back mate... Quote

Dorino Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Wow wow yellow one looks cool. I am pretty sure some of You will make it. Yellow is not rare in Technic :P Quote
