zux Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Not sure if this was asked before, but I have found that new rims have intesting center on them: As you see, new rim's center + starts on the outer side of the rim only (isn't completely cross as for current rim) and I presume you can fit new rim on an a pin too? This makes this peace a completely universal rim, such you can get it connected with axle, pin and Steering Portal Axle Hub. Quote
rm8 Posted July 8, 2013 Author Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) I noted that rims are more glossy (laquered) and less grippy - tire slips more... Also take a look at inner reinforcements: you cant fit lovely third party 108 mm tires (Ansmann/rc4wd) on this rims! Edited July 8, 2013 by rm8 Quote

Yeah, I've noticed the reinforcements and glossy finish, but what about its center fitting? Is it just a hole or you can fit new rim on pin too? Quote
rm8 Posted July 8, 2013 Author Posted July 8, 2013 Yeah, I've noticed the reinforcements and glossy finish, but what about its center fitting? Is it just a hole or you can fit new rim on pin too? Not tested, but Iam sure it is just a hole Quote
zux Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Not tested, but Iam sure it is just a hole Hmm, if it is just a hole then I don't see a point shortening contact surface for axle connection. Since you have a set you probably could check the properties of that hole? Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Its just a hole, like the newer smaller rims on the backhoe... No pins can be attached there. Quote
DLuders Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Technicmad (Nathan Thom) added the Parts List of the 41999 4x4 Crawler on Rebrickable. Using Rebrickable's "Exact Match" feature, if you already own a 9398 4x4 Crawler, you have 65.7% of the parts needed to build the 41999 4x4 Crawler. You would be "missing" 543 parts. ---> Quote
The Ghost Racer Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Try contacting customer support (you can find the number in the lego shop) and ask if you can buy the pieces that you lack; produce surplus specifically to provide assistance, then I suggest you groped your luck xD Quote
Meatman Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Can't wait to get this one ordered. I hope the flippers don't buy them all out too fast. Quote

Eigenbroetler Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 why does this model use 16pc of RED Technic 11M Beam, when 9398 only use 10? Quote
Eigenbroetler Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 1 more for the winch? thats one possibility, but there 5 more unaccounted for Quote
rm8 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 thats one possibility, but there 5 more unaccounted for Reinforcement of chassis and winch;) Quote
Eigenbroetler Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Reinforcement of chassis and winch;) oh, but wasnt the rules of the competition that the chassis should remain unmodified? Quote
rm8 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 oh, but wasnt the rules of the competition that the chassis should remain unmodified? It was reinforced above the original chassis without any "damage";) Quote
legotechnicblue Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 When does the sale start? Midnight or is there a certain time? Quote
legotechnicblue Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 That picture really shows how close yet different the two models are. I still think the 41999 is better though. Hey rm8, do you know what time the sale starts? Quote
