He reminds me of Will Turner's lego version:

No news here after months of people comparing the characthers online.

Those mood shots are confusing. Is Bard aiming at the Laketown Guard? I was never one who supported a 1:1 adaptation of the novel, but at one point I won't see much Hobbit in the movies. Oh well, as long as PJ won't completely disregard physics and once again litter the film with CGI, I'm very happy.

Here are the "mood shots" for the laketown chase set. No doubt these are made to be on the Hobbit website to go with the rest.

*snip*

what???? this is really confusing me...

A lot has been added..

Though it look GREAT! where were these?

Any word if we will be getting more lord of the ring sets or is it just the hobbit.

No word, the instruction manuals for dos hobbit sets might tell us.

No confirmation from TLG but I think it is safe to presume that we will get a least one more LotR wave in June 2014. I am skeptical that the LotR line will last longer than that. I thoroughly enjoy the line. It is what brought me back from my dark ages and I hope it will continue.

If LOTR stopped and Orthanc was the last set it would skyrocket in value. So im happy either way  .

Id rather have proper Gondor soldiers than skyrocketing prices though :P

Thats true, I would like to see a few more things done, Maybe 1 or 2 more waves plus one more exclusive will fill my appetite.

Yep.

It would be a shame if LOTR ends next year (even worse if this year) without getting some really iconic places and figures/soldiers

Hopefully that wont happen just yet. I hear the line is doing well for Lego. I still don't understand why they wasted this years flagship on such an un-iconic boat. There are a million more memorable scenes that would justify a £80 set. :sadnew: Maybe we will do better later on in the year.

Yeah exactly what I am worried about...

The ship has some pros:

- LEGO does ships well

- Ships are good sellers

- No pirate theme so might be a gift for others also

But on the other side ship makes me worried like they do not care that much for the theme... Helm's Deep was awesome, but Pirate Ship is just not really important even if it was the ship that let Aragorn and others came to aid Minas Tirith before destruction/death.

Its arguable, some would say its a key point (it actually is) but others would say there are tons more locations stuff to do before a ship.

I just hope LEGO used the ship for the sake of pros not slacking!

In the designer video they touch on this. The designer says "some of you may be wondering why we wanted to create this model, even though it's only seen in the movies briefly". He then says it's because kids love pirate ships. They apparently wanted a set that appealed to both pirate ship AND LotR fans. While it kind of sucks we got such a minor scene made into a flagship set, if it helps sales and means more new iconic sets later on I am fine with it.

I agree with this...

but if LOTR does end next year after summer line it will still mean we lost a flag set for a pirate ship minor scene when it could've been so much more :D

I would say there will be at least one more LotR wave to coincide with next years Hobbit wave.

Who knows. Everyone assumes the worst and we are only going to get one more wave, or none at all, but wouldn't that be great if this line lasted 5 or even 10 more years? The material is definitely there, it's just a matter of if the sales can support it.

I hope there will be 2 more lotr waves. It's my favorite lego theme ever. Sure we need the balrog of moria. I think TLG will definetly make this one. Maybe in the next wave. The rest of the waves sets should be all about minas tirith and the battle at the pellenor. Like grond, witchking on fellbeast and a *brickbuild mumakil* with some nice haradrim and faramir. Really. hope they don't do a scaled down minas tirith.

Maybe PJ makes some movies about other middleearth tales like in the silmarillon...

He can't. Tolkien never sold the rights before he died. And his son hates the movies so I don't think he'll give up the rights soon.

Too bad. The "prequel" to lord of the rings an how sauron came up and the story of the rings would make. a nice trilogy. ;-)
