Nazgarot Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) Hi, I want to present another differential concept I've been tinkering with since I got my hands on a pair of the new smaller turntable. It's derived from the old "torsen" diff concept using two old turntables (I don't know who first came up with this, but I've included my version in this post), but a lot more compact. I've tested it with a medium motor, but don't think it will be strong enough for a XL motor. It would be interesting to see how it handles the L motor... This should be interesting for anyone who needs a working self locking differential. I'll put up a video as soon as I have the time to make one. The .lxf file will be available on Brickshelf as soon as they have approved it. Deep link: torsen_diff_x2 Old an new diff: Internals of the old: Internals of the new: Tested model: The rubber bands in the last picture are supposed to hold the 8 stud braces in place, I may however have tightened it to much... -ED- EDIT: Tried to make a deep link to the .lxf file... Pleas inform me if it doesn't work. Edited August 11, 2012 by Nazgarot Quote
DLuders Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 @ Nazgarot: This looks interesting! Since it may be 2 days before the Brickshelf moderator makes your new folder "public", you could "deeplink" your pictures and LDD .lxf file now, using the procedure here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=5448&st=0&p=85129&hl=deeplink&fromsearch=1entry85129 . Only YOU can see your Brickshelf gallery until it is moderated, but "Deeplinking" gets around that problem. Using Zblj's Brickshelf folder for his recent Mini 9398 as an example, your deeplink to your .lxf file will look like the text strings below. I removed the "http://" from this example so you can see the entire string; you will need to add them back in. Delete all references to a "thumb": Change "www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zblj/Mini9398/thumb/9398mini.lxf_thumb.jpg" to read "www.brickshelf.com/gallery/zblj/Mini9398/9398mini.lxf " instead. If you are successful, your link to your LDD .lxf file will work like this. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Thats compact, butIi doubt a 8 tooth gear stressed 8x times the torque of wheels can whistand any real power. Still its a great model for light machinery. Quote
