Talk about an Easter Egg in the film, don't want to spoil the fun. It's not a spoiler to the plot, though.

In the movie, there's a Batman reference- the satellite Zod takes over says Wayne Industries on it. What does this mean?

That evidently Warner Bros. is foregoing Christopher Nolan's wishes and putting JGL in position for a Justice League movie.

Which would be awesome, considering his acting.

Now I'm interested. Also, there's an Easter egg for Lex in this movie supposedly.

PLEASE BE KEVIN SPACEY.

If they initially asked Brandon Routh to play Superman before Henry Cavill I'm sure Spacey could return as Lex.

I don't think that's true. While the Easter egg is true, JGL won't return. It's already been confirmed that Man of Steel is the first in a new universe, and is seperate from TDKR. Batman will be rebooted in a few years just like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Lantern which are all in development stages.

Do you have a source for this? Due to Nolan's involvement, I like to think that MoS and his Batman films do take place within the same DC universe.

Saw the movie yesterday and I must say I really enjoyed it. I had to sit pretty close to the screen so the shaky camera angles weren't the best. The action was good and the story progressed nicely.

Well they are going to reboot bats in 2015...

I couldn't find the original source from a few months back, but this just came out today. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=81564

Goyer who wrote both Man of Steel and the Dark Knight trilogy, plus is the favourite to write Justice League confirms its a new Batman.

Also here's some Info on Wonderwoman and Aquaman http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/notyetamovie/news/?a=81507

It makes sense to me that Green Lantern and Batman would be the last to get films before Justice League. Mainly because both have had films in the last 2 years.

Good movie overall.

The humour was great and well-timed; nothing too cheesy in there either. My favourite one would be at the end after the general talks about American interests and Kal-El replies, "General, I grew up in Kansas; I'm about as American as it gets."

I've never been a big-time Superman fan nor have I seen the first 4 original movies but I thought there were a ridiculous amount of explosions in the final battle in Metropolis. It was probably bound to happen considering it's like 2 gods fighting, but I thought I'd mention it anyways.

I think from now on I should just pull out a notebook and take notes during the movie so I can remember more when discussing here or on other forums.

I saw it. I think it was good. Pretty darned good. Honestly though I'm probably giving it bonus points just because Superman is my favorite Super Hero. Also Snyder did indeed "Snyder it" a bit. Meaning too many visuals (some very very good, some not effective at all), not enough story and development. It's a good movie that could have been much better. I'd give it a 9/10 myself but I think I'm being more generous than most would. My parents and great uncle didn't really like it much.

My IN DEPTH thoughts:

I feel like more character development was needed. Like more kid scenes. Maybe some Lana (girlfriend scenes). More about his growth as Clark and why he was wandering. More about the influence of his parents and stuff.

I mean, the scene where he let his dad freakin' die was a bit too much for me. I didn't find it believable with that level of development and kind of just plain found it stupid. I know it's point and what it was trying to convey but it was still pretty stupid. It was supposed to be a major scene too.

Also I'm not sure how he can represent "Hope" when before his official public appearance he's just seen fighting and destroying stuff. Looking at it from the perspective of the freaked out and dying masses I don't think they'd immediately embrace him or his symbol. His symbol is a d00d who came around, fought some people, maybe saved some but thousands still died... Without seeing any scenes of him saving anyone but Lois AS Superman (well, he did save the world but that didn't seem to be fully in view of the public) I don't see his symbol as being fulfilled yet though maybe that'll be the topic of the next movie (and LEX LUTHOR which I really look forward too).

Special effects wise it was hit and miss. Some earlier scenes like the Kryptonian wildlife just looked "Star Wars Episode I" bad IMO. They still can't effectively make organic life look any good.

Then there's just some tech that was weird.

I swear Snyder saw one of these:

pinart_pinimpression1.png

And then wuz lik3 "yo this is c00l yo! Lets stick them everywhere in the movie!"...

It's just a lot of the effects were just so... Snyder.... Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Or in other words not really adding anything to the story (which is MORE important than a random "cool" atmosphere).

However the plain old "Kryptonians fighting" scenes were just GREAT. Especially the Faora scenes. She had some awesome fight scenes. The powers were portrayed IMO better than ever. The Super Speed isn't really "flash" like but more skippy hoppy which makes more sense than the comics where he uses his super speed only if it's for the story (meaning, realistically no one should be able to touch him yet he gets punched by slow pokes). The visual portrayal of the Super Speed was GREAT. The way it now freakin' makes sense is GREAT.

Freeze Breathe either wasn't shown or doesn't exist in this universe. I don't mind if it doesn't exist. Honestly if you took away a power of his that's the one to take away. It's kind of stupid too.

The flying, just plain fist fights were awesome. Snyder might go over with visuals but he's very good at them (sometimes :P).

Again, the Kryptonian fight scenes were probably the best effects in the movie. Faora, Zod, Superman and that Giant D00d were all great. I didn't even mind Superman's lack of red undies.

I'm not sure what else to say. It could have been better yes. It wasn't exactly an intelligent movie. The Villain's motivations were basically "we're evil! bwahaha!" disguised behind genetic engineering. The depth wasn't there. But it was fun. I think I was doubting it until it ended well with CLASSIC Clark Kent at the Daily Planet which I was until then worried they'd ignore (possibly leaving Superman with no secret identity or something). Again, it could have used more story and depth but... it was still good. I think Pete and Lana especially (his best friend and girlfriend) could have used more time to influence his growth. Smallville did good with that stuff in it's earlier seasons.

Blablablabla.... Now I have to buy the other Superman Lego sets... and I can't wait for the next hopefully LEX movie.

I can also see why Nolan doesn't want his Batman to be involved with this universe. This is a pretty crazy universe. However I think it could still work (Iron Man 1 going to Avengers was pretty crazy) but since Nolan won't give the okay we won't see the same Batman anyways.

Is he playing him as an American with an accent?

I was so excited for this movie, but when I watched it today... I was disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high, but first of all: A lot of the characters were underdeveloped, a example is the tall Kryptonian dude, who never has said a single word, his face was barely shown and even his name wasn't mentioned. I guess it's okay that the characters who serve smaller purposes are a bit underdeveloped, but characters like Zod and Lois being underdeveloped was unacceptable. Second of all, there were way too many action scenes and too less emotional scenes. The first half was kinda okay but in the later half it's all just whopping and explosions. The story felt rushed as well, and it makes me doubt that Nolan was a part of the making of this movie. I can recommend it to people who just like action, but for the people who watch movies for the story, I suggest you walk away from this one.

Oh, and one more thing:

I knew that Zod would die even before I saw the movie, but I wish he was just sent to the Phantom Zone (Which I think might not exist anymore, to be honest) again or something, kinda feels like a waste of what would have been a great character.

Fully enjoyed this movie myself. I don't recall that I enjoyed the other earlier versions. I know there are mixed feelings with regards to the Superman movie. This worked well for me.

Really enjoyed the movie myself. If you're a big comic book fan you'll recognize a lot of familiar characters from the comics. Really enjoyed Micheal Shannons performance as General Zod and the easter eggs throughout the movie. Now to wait for the further DC cinematic universe to come out. :sweet:

Oooh! That was a good film!

It was a great Superman film. There were some things that could have been improved, at least character development wise, but overall it was great. I loved the many Easter eggs placed about such as the Luthor tanker truck and the Wayne satellite (However, to be honest, had I not read about that earlier I may have missed it since it was so small and hard to see). It was interesting to note however that the symbol of Wayne Tech was the same used in the Nolan trilogy--however I am still 100% in the camp that they exist in two different universes, and thus Bale Batman cannot exist in MoS and beyond.

The main characters were all portrayed well, especially Superman and Zod. Lois was good but she seemed like she was missing something. Really there's just something I can't place at the current time that was missing from the film to make it perfect, however it's pretty close. The fights were very nice, and I was satisfied with the end result of Superman vs Zod, which you know, could really have ended only two ways (Zod dead or Zod back in Phantom Zone). Alternative Zod wins!

I loved Faora--she was great in the film, and especially the Smallville fight scene where her speed looks like a jumping record! Perry was great too, and I loved the inclusion of Hamilton, though I was surprised to see him die (Maybe) with the destruction of Zod's ship. On that related note, I don't know if the ship itself was destroyed or sucked back into the phantom zone (And I only care so much because I want Faora to live!)

All in all, a great movie, and I believe it is the best of Superman movies.

In relation to the movie and the Lego sets: well I have to be honest Lego did an amazing job! Unlike the very sketchy (at best) Iron Man 3 sets, the MoS ones are right on the mark. The Black Smallville battle set is very accurate and the dropship is really only scaled down from the film version (Hardy too is very accurate). The Black Zero escape is very good too, though the turret thing is a bit of added stuff. And metropolis is nice too, however I never spotted that yellow car!

Probably the most “off” thing of the sets is Zod’s armor, since Lego, unfortunately in an obvious error made it impossible to use hair and the chest piece. Zod (Unlike Faora who does) rarely wears his helmet (Which is generally translucent in the film rather than solid), and I just wish you could use the armor and the hair. On a related note, I still don’t know who Tor-an is, and who he was in the film. Otherwise, the sets are very accurate (Thankfully!)

I thought the movie was fine. I liked most of the origin story changes, except for the changes involving the Kents (The twister bothered me, and I'm not sure what that accomplished in the grand scheme of things). In fact I enjoyed the origin section of the movie far more than the latter half (Which felt like there was too much jam-packed in there). I thought the entire movie looked a bit washed out. It was awfully bland looking for a comic book movie. But it did have some strong visual designs (Krypton looked good for a change).

Honestly though my biggest problem was that I just didn't care for these characters. They were just underdeveloped to me and I had a hard time caring about any of them. I don't know, it just lacked emotion at times, and I just had a problem relating to these characters. Honestly this movie didn't do anything to make me hate it, but it didn't really do anything to make me love it either. I just feel indifferent about it (Which being a die-hard Superman fan is sort of disappointing).

Maybe I'll like the next one. Hopefully they'll remember to develop the characters next time around.

I think Tor-an was the Kroptonian Scientist d00d who had like 2 lines. Not sure though.

No that wasn't Tor-An, it was Jax-Ur the scientist who creates the Braniac program.

I think the next movie will have both Lex and Brainiac. Nothing really pointed to it that I could see but it just seems natural. And Kryptonite too as sick as most people are of his weakness.

Hopefully it'll be Kevin Spacey.

Why the heck do people want him? He was in a terrible Superman movie already. And honestly out of all the Lex Luthor versions there are "Evil RealEstate Agent" Lex is by far the most lame one. And there's no need for him to be in two separate universes as Lex.

There's 3 versions of Lex. Real Estate, Mad Scientist and Business Man. The first two suck. If Spacey could do a good Business Man Lex (which is where it looks like this one is heading) it doesn't really matter. The chances of him accepting or even being offered the same role in an alternative universe movie is almost zero.

Hopefully it's not Keven Spacey :P. I don't need to be reminded of his stupid Lex. Though not the actor's fault, I don't care.
