tripletschiee Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Here is my version of a mower. It is based on the design of the original crane arm. It can be controlled via the front PPTO. It has three pneumatic cylinders to lift the arm and move the mower-part itself. And also it can be moved sidewise by 6 studs using the front PTO via a linear actuator. See another 12 pictures in my Brickshelf-folder (once it is published by the admins). Regards, Gerhard Quote

JunkstyleGio Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) By changeing the url the numbers from 1 to 13 I've been looking at the rest of your pictures. This is a great looking piece of equipement. I've got one question: Could you please make some pictures of the attachement (without the pnumatic crane?) I love to see how you have connected the "mower"base with the la's to the mechanical PTO. Edited September 6, 2011 by JunkstyleGio Quote

I love to see how you have connected the "mower" to the mechanical PTO. Maybe I do not understand it right. The mower itself ist not turning. It is passive, it just rolls over the ground. The front PTO activates the linear actuator, that moves the whole thign sideways by 6 studs. Regards, Gerhard Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Would love to see how the "base" is connected to unimog and how the la's are geared. May you could do a ldd of it? Quote
tripletschiee Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) ... and how the la's are geared. May you could do a ldd of it? On picture 12 you can see that the PTO is directly connected to two 3L universal joints. And then on picture 13 or picture 8 you can see, that it is going via some gears directly to the LA. Unfortunately I don't know how to make a lld file. Regards, Gerhard Edited September 6, 2011 by tripletschiee Quote

Here is a quick doodle on sr3d ( you did not mean you want all of it in cad?) Edited September 6, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

tripletschiee Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Here is a quick doodle on sr3d ( you did not mean you want all of it in cad?) Yes, that is exactly how it works! Pity there's no LDD instructions for this,I'd really like to build it :( ps ur black wheels look very well I can't wait to get mine, did ye see giojunkstyles centre caps on his wheels!very realistic I put a black pulley wheel in the center: Whats not to love about that mower , just a shame it dosent spin . Im not sure that would be possible unless znap was put into play . I was actually thinking about spnning it, But I am afraid that this wold not looke nice. Maybe with a micro motor... ? Alasdair Ryan Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 (edited) Yes, that is exactly how it works! Thankfully i still have not figured out how to add new parts to ldraw or how to make lpub support s3rd's parts was actually thinking about spnning it, But I am afraid that this wold not looke nice. Maybe with a micro motor... ? Regards, Gerhard You could do it like that or by a gear box to split the pto to the sliding mechanism,i think the size of a large turn table will be just two big but you could use one of these or make your one, you could even make if useing a small pneumatic ram. tripletschiee Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 So, I just took some further pictures. I removed the arm and just left the mounting part. I hope that helps to understand the construction. There are 7 further pictures. Numbers 15 till 21. Regards, Gerhard Quote

I was NOT building any additional motor so far into the Unimog... Where did you see the motor? The whole Mog is still "manual", but sometimes I will be motorizing it! Regards, Gerhard Quote

davidmull Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Can I ask what's the big deal with big pictures?I'm just curious as I don't see the problem! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 It takes a will for some people to load the pics, i have radio broadband so it is all right with me but the moderators dont like it, the max size is 800x600 and so if thay see it thay will normally remove the pic and then nobody will see it. blaz62 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) For anyone interested iv just nearly finished motorizing my unimog,i went by a youtube clip i seen and its the best iv seen yet! Works great and the mog has very good torque and the steering works like a charm too, You will see the parts and instruction in the clip, the best thing was where we placed the motor its nearly like lego intended it to be there and best of all its still 4X4 :) Id even go as far as saying that it would be great outdoor on offroad :) Thanks to 1blaz62 for sharing this. Heres the clip!maybe someone can fix the link to come up properly! I apologize that I did not put a link up. Edited September 7, 2011 by blaz62 Quote
davidmull Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I apologize that I did not put a link up. Ha thanks blaz,ur mod is very good, but u should try the m motor for steering with a clutch gear as it works better than the xl,there's a LDD file a few pages back on this tread and it has instructions :) Quote
