mahjqa Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 The concept is simple. Roll two vehicles off a plank. The one that goes farthest wins. Prizes are also rewarded for originality and the best crash. Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) And the fun we had! Thanks for the great movie! Here's a picture of this year's racers... Edited March 15, 2011 by JunkstyleGio Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Fun! Looks like a variant to Brendan Powell Smiths Ultimate LEGO Vehicle-contest: http://www.thereverend.com/lego/ulv/ 1) Build a vehicle at the venue (or bring one from home). Include a driver. 2) Judge the vehicles based on looks. 3) Which can roll the furthest? 4) Which is the fastest down the ramp? 5) Which can jump the longest distance? Measure to where the driver comes to a rest. 6) In all the events above, which looses the least amount of bricks? We've been doing this in Sweden for quite a while now, here's a couple of videos from the latest events: Comp starts at 7:02, jumps start at 8:26: Comp starts at 0:45, jumps start at 5:05 (but there are quite a few crashes before that as well): Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think this is a really fun race! the key to winning IMO are hard wheels like those from roboriders and some good suspension. Quote
grohl Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Some of these vehicles are really crazy. Great and simple idea anyway. The Czech LEGO forum did this kind of competition during the opening of exhibition in 2008. Quote
Luc2000 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Walking minifig and red car are mine I actually won the prize for most original creation The last car in the video won the prize for the most spectaular crash, from "vijv", and overall winner was "aliencat" Quote
DLuders Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 SpeeedErik has gotten into the mood to do some Lego Technic jumping too: Quote
DLuders Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) (Bart Simpson says) "Dudes! Get a load of this Lego Wacky Racer on a skateboard made by Erik Leppen! He's yellow like me, and has blue hair like my mom. You can build your own from the pics on his Brickshelf gallery. There's a single PDF document of the Building Instructions available here."
