dhc6twinotter Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 (edited) Nice MOCs! I really like the Baja Bug. Edited September 23, 2011 by dhc6twinotter Quote
bord4kop Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) I bring you; my ultimate 8043 The Excavator is in itself a very nice model. A great challenge to build, in my opinion the finest ever in its construction, so very well put together. And it 's quite playable. BUT .. when it comes to playability, one misses some flexibility. Because you often need to switch functions; just a little bit more forward, a bit more to the right, just over there ... and so on. It would be nice if it could turn and drive whilst digging. Well, Jurgen Krooshoop made the first (?) and very good ultimate version, where all functions work at once. And now I made something similar with my version, not imitated, but inspired by Jurgens Ultimate 8043 It features: 8 Motors (consisting of 2 XL motors, 5 medium and one micro-motor), 2 battery boxes, 4 PF receivers Operated remotely by 4 controllers. It is not the most good looking 8043 version, but it functions rather well I completely removed the gearbox. And the under carriage now houses an AAA battery-box, 2 medium motors and one PF receiver. Simple yet effective all in all I think.. This version can do pretty much the same as the original, but with some extra 's. When the bucket is attached it bends at four sections, instead of 3. The bucket can be turned 360 degrees / all around and tilt in any position (using the mini-LA). The gripper has similar functionality, turn in any direction, tilt in any direction. And the gripper is the most fun to play with. It is quite strong too! Behold: With gripper (ver. 2) attached : The Digger bucket; More at my brickshelf folder I am working on a simple video of the thing, showing it 's functionality Edited October 25, 2011 by bord4kop Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) Great to see another mod. I don't like the small la on the dipper , you need to try and fix this issue i do like the grab and the tilt bucket. Some of the mods that some people made including me! timslegos Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Wow fantastic ultimate 8043!!! I love the functionality of the grabber! I tried to make a gripper to but it didn't come out nearly as well as yours. Don't forget to post the video here when its done. tim Quote
bord4kop Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Thanks all for the kind words. This mod was mainly simple, e.g: everything out that is not used and motors on most practical place. Hence the one behind the cab (notice the axles, the bending/folding (?) position is not optimal). The undercarriage mod was simplest ever, as you might notice. Two motors and two gears was all it took. Attaching the receiver and battery-box and I was done whit that. It now moves faster, and better IMHO, play wise I mean. I meant to keep the arm/boom light and short, hence the mini-LA. Besides there is no need for hefty torque on the bucket or grabber tilt position. Well, have a look at the short -and bit crappy- 8043 MOD video.. Have fun watching. Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Wow, you make very interesting vehicle MOCs! I like the evolution of machines you've got going there. Keep up the good work. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) I do like your grab, thanks for the video. Edited October 29, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
bord4kop Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Thanks all for the kind words :) My next MOC probably is going to be an improved version of the BajaBug. As I was not satisfied with it, looks and functions could 've been a lot better Quote
Jim Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 My next MOC probably is going to be an improved version of the BajaBug. As I was not satisfied with it, looks and functions could 've been a lot better Looking forward to it!! Quote
Burf2000 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Love the progress you made with your models Quote
bord4kop Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 (edited) It took a while, but here is a simple MOC.. (I have been busy, but mostly building and a lot of MOD 's) Look at my Hot-Rod V2. It is not exactly the way I wanted it to be, or finishes (the back) but well.. Have a look: It features: Independent suspension on all wheels Working steering wheel 3 +R gearbox Working pistons Edited June 29, 2012 by bord4kop Quote
bord4kop Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) Here is a MOC I made summer 2012: A wheeled excavator, which features: 4 wheel drive 4 wheel steering Superstructure 360 degrees turning 2x PF lights Boom raise/lower Upper Arm raise/lower Bucket tilt Bucket rotation (360) 2x big battery box 1x small battery box 3 L motors 5 M motors 4 receivers PF switch Enjoy some crappy pictures (I should take a photo shooting course some day ) And it was quite big! It was not very good looking, when trying to improve I got frustrated so I tore it apart again So there are no more photo's nor a movie Edited January 18, 2013 by bord4kop Quote
Jim Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) Very nice MOC!! That last picture puts things into perspective. I had nu clue it was that big Is this some kind of replica of a real world excavator? Or did you come up with this yourself? Either way, it's very cool PS haven't seen you in a while... bord4kop Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) Thanks! No, it is just my own interpretation of a wheeled excavator. It would have looked better in Orange or Yellow I presume. Yes, I have not shown much over the last year. Nice you noticed it !! I came over here for a visit from time to time. But I have not "mocced" much due to two little children, the youngest being 16 months at the moment. This leaves quite little time for building. (And the fact I have to [set-up and clear the dinning table each time is not of much help either ) Anyway, my next MOC will be more pleasant to look at, I promise AND I will make sure the pictures are a lot better this time! Zerobricks Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Really massive! A very unique machine, never ssen one like that. Quote
Jim Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Thanks! No, it is just my own interpretation of a wheeled excavator. It would have looked better in Orange or Yellow I presume. I think the color scheme is okay, for something not resembling a real world piece of machinery. Although I do love yellow Yes, I have not shown much over the last year. Nice you noticed it !! I came over here for a visit from time to time. But I have not "mocced" much due to two little children, the youngest being 16 months at the moment. This leaves quite little time for building. (And the fact I have to [set-up and clear the dinning table each time is not of much help either ) Was wondering the other day if you stopped building things Even though I don't have children, I recognize the "dining table dilemma". I like to build in the living room, but I also like to eat sometimes hehe. I have created a subcollection with the most important parts and colors, so it's pretty easy to setup or to remove from the table. Anyway, my next MOC will be more pleasant to look at, I promise AND I will make sure the pictures are a lot better this time! The pictures aren't too bad, probably iPhone (or other smart phone). Any ideas for your next MOC? Quote
bord4kop Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) It has been a while But since I have dismantled the project I have been building last years (on and off) , I figured I should take some pictures and might share it anyway.. It is a BajaBug, based on Nico71 's auto 2-gear chassis. Shame I never finished it, but hey, building is the most fun in Lego isn 't it!? Here goes.. Simple 1-shot movie: Remote controled Quite reasonable suspension travel 2 Medium motors for drive Servo for steering Auto gearing up/down (CVT?) when needed, but this is the engineering by Nico71 really Opening door(s) Working flat four engine Edited November 25, 2016 by bord4kop resize pic s Quote
