I did not attend BrickCon 2010 this past weekend (but Blakbird did!), so I searched for Bill Ward's Brickpile Flickr photostream of the event. There are hundreds of pictures (but with no captions). I found the ones below relevant to this Eurobricks forum. Alas, Bill Ward didn't take any pictures of the Technic displays.

of the "BrickCon Technic, Bionicle, and Castle" displays (but it has no narrative). The TECHNIC part is the first 31 seconds:

On his Brickshelf gallery, Blakbird posted 80 pictures (only some of which appear below). Eric, can you tell us more about the event? How many of these were your sets or MOCs? Who made that big blue-and-white Technic airplane?

My display was a computer running Technicopedia and a sampling of Technic from history. I brought the models from 1977, 1992, and 2010. The many functional trucks are from Glen Bell. Marius made the Twin Otter seaplane which was truly a marvel to behold. He won the "Best in Technic" trophy, and I spend many hours talking to him about Technic, life, and his seaplane. I plan on writing another post in the future to expound upon it.

Wow that plane is absolutely monstrous! Also nice to see such a great looking studded creation :cry_happy: I'd love to know what sort of functions it has

Some nice pictures there :classic:

I'm curious about those 'try it out' flyers you had in your exhibit - what was written there?

And how was the visitor's reaction to your site?

The see-plane is awesome!

Hopefully we get more pictures on this model soon.

[childish mode on]I want that seaplane, and now :cry_sad: ![/mode off]

I wrote lots more about the seaplane at this thread.

Yes, the seaplane is absolutely awesome, but I like the yellow and blue trucks bery much as well.

The trucks were very well done and were done by Glen Bell who also operates heavy equipment for a living. They were all functional and able to be loaded in the same way as real trucks.

It was not a flyer, it was just a sheet of paper encouraging people to try the site. Most things at the show say "DO NOT TOUCH", so I wanted to make sure people knew they could come up and give it a shot.

Reaction was hard to tell because the show is so loud and busy. Americans don't seem very interested in mechanical technology for some reason, so the questions I got were mostly from "visitors". A couple people had actually heard of the site before.

I exhibited at a small Lego Exhibition at a local Scout Group last year..

and I made a point of letting as many people touch, and play with my models as possible!

Technic (esp. the studless ones) are really pretty robust... (unlike normal system lego models), so I had people from 5 to 55 playing with them.. operating gears/levers, etc.. no issues at all!

I was also the only one with the RC Racer cars too (which look pretty technic anyway!).. so that was loads of fun racing them around

We also had 3 PF Bulldozers... and it's quite funny to have 3 of them lined up, side by side, all on the same channel...

1 remote controlled them all simultaneously! looked like synchonised dancing!! hahah
