NS 4200 ICM

[LEGO Train 12 Volts]

Hello everyone,

today I want to share the NS 4200 ICM train that I've had parked in my room for months.

The design is based on a Bluebrixx model, whose dimensions I shortened for more realistic proportions.

For the occasion I also designed some railway pylons that simulate the catenary.

The train is powered by two motors in the lead locomotive, controlled via Bluetooth, and equipped with head and tail lights.

nice! id replace the last transparent 2x2 slope with a non transparent one. the cab looks a bit too long for me. that aside, nice build!

Nice! The real-life prototype is an odd-looking train, but you've done a great job capturing its essence!

Well done. The stickers add a nice amount of detail. I remember taking a few of those trains while traveling through the Netherlands.

This one is high on my list to MOC. I have spent countless hours in them. I would put the cab a bit more to the front, what I remember of it it was really forward, I would also reduce the number of transparant parts there. The odd shape as @PossumPatrol mentions is because you can couple two head sections and actually walk through them. So the front opens up and reveals a passengerway. The Dutch name is "koploper" means translate like walkthrough head. See the image below.

That's a masterful recreation of an iconic prototype. Lots of nice part usage (e.g., the gray windshield as a plow). And of course the custom lighting. One suggestion, if you can get the color match of the stickers close enough, it would be neat to try to reproduce the rounded end of the blue stripe either with a blue half circle on yellow bricks or yellow masks on the blue bricks. Actually, with all of the modern arches and curved bricks, you might be able to round the corners of the end of the blue stripe strictly using bricks. Yeah, it would be a square with rounded corners rather than a continuous curve, but color match would be easier and it would be more eloquent than simply pulling out the sticker gun and shooting the guy spinning two giant machetes at you.

That's a lovely looking replica of one! I agree with the cabin (windows) being a bit too long, and the centre headlight looks a bit "off" to me, with it being the binocular piece, thus "double" the lights rather than single, but other than that she looks really nice!

Every time I get to drive one of them it's always nice! Sadly with them being phased out, my depot doesn't really get the shifts with them anymore other than once in a blue moon...

That wouldn't be prototypical of the one he made, though. His version is an ICM, his reference photo is an ICMm, there's a distinction in the two, one being that rounded stripe ;)

Ah, well then, you should take the reference photo and apply a little tape... (grin). Seriously though, good to hear. They are such distinct train (little m variant not withstanding)
