DRC42 Railcar

Finally able to build this one after some months of redesign and parts collectin.

Some problems still need refining but it sure looks the part.

Used here in Australia along rural lines between townships. (red hen in bg for compare)

Well done and easily recognizable.

 

Just a couple of minor suggestions, assuming the RDC's in Australia are similar to those in the US, the radiator bank on the top seems too short, maybe go from 4 long to 8 long? I would explore the new curved slopes and wedge pieces to see if there might be one to smooth the transition at the end of the roof... if only this came in gray

@zephyr1934 appreciate the suggestions, the 4 long radiator bank keeps the train roughly in scale for our versions, a stud either way would mean having to extend the train length to closer match the original which in my scale would be too long.

As for the fronts ours end in a flat so they are pretty spot on, we have budd cars in south australia that more closely match what you are suggesting ( may make one soon) I even think those were made in philladelphia and delivered by sea to our townships back in the day. There was a photo of one being lowered onto the rails at my home port in Australia that was quite amazing.

Cool, my thought was simply keeping the RDC length as is, but as I look at an image of a US RDC what I THINK the length of the radiators are relative to the length of the car vs. what it REALLY is, well, I am a bit off. And thinking further, even if that wedged curve slope worked, there's no good way to get the curved corner going down from it. Ah, the challenge of attempting to build anything non-cubic out of Lego.
