Hello everyone,

I am back again with yet another classic German locomotive. This time it is a Baureihe 56.2, or a Prussian G8.2 before.
For the colour scheme, as I'm still not a fan of the classic black and red (Way too boring still, haha) I have opted for a Dark blue and black, with grey running boards and red accents on the valve gear.

Just like my previous models, she has the full set of front and rear lights, and an accurate valve gear and proper wheelset designed and printed by myself, and she is powered by a Buwizz 3.0 Pro (They no longer make and sell 2.0's), and for the motor it's a CADA L motor.
Which means she's loud, but very powerful, especially since she's down geared to match a realistic scale speed of around 60-65km/h. Surprisingly, she is also somehow still capable at running around R40 curves, and has almost no gap between her tender and cab!

For the text decals, I have to thank Sven

In this video, you can see the valve gear in action.

And as a bonus, here is a picture I took at NLGM 2026, where she made her debut! I only managed to finish her the day before the event, and she ran really well! Except she's too light to properly go up steeper slopes with a heavy load (10+ wagons)...
So in the next few weeks, I'll be tweaking her frame a bit to stuff as much weights as I can in there. As well as make some changes to the wheels to try different O-Rings, rubber bands and other things.

After that, well... I guess she does need a lot more wagons to pull, as I've only got 6 now. So in the next few months, I'll hopefully have another collection to show!

Ahhh, I actually got to see this beauty in person over the weekend ;-)

The color alone makes this locomotive stand out and gives it a very elegant look. Awesome!

It was nice to meet you.

Best regards,

A beautiful model!

The BR 56.20 was kind of a "trademark locomotive" of my home town, a significant number was stationed here, so I'm quite fond of this class. You've captured the shape and details of the prototype very well!

What is that thin piece you use as a handrail alongside the boiler?

And that's really a shame. The 3.0 doesn't have enough PF outputs to suit my needs; and PU is out of question, for the motors are too bulky (why on earth did LEGO make them larger than their predecessors, when everything else is miniaturized these days???).

Every time she came into the side room, she definitely announced herself with how loud she was, impossible to miss as well, hahaha

Thank you very much!

It was nice meeting you too, glad to have been there at NLGM!

Thank you!! And again, thank you for the amazing decals too!

The piece is actually the antenna piece (2569) with the base and top cut off. It fits exactly through the 3mm rigid hose, so I've cut small sections of that to fill the clips, and then the antenna through that to work as handrails. This way it properly stands out from the pipes that are thicker. Not really purist, but I've not gone that route anyways as per the wheels/valve gear as well as drilling holes for wiring of the LED's, and for a super common 1ct piece, I'm not too bothered with cutting it up... 😅

If you don't mind the loud noise (not coil whine, but loud spinning noise), you can use CADA motors, they're the same profile as the PU L motor, but 1 stud shorter, so the same length as the PF L motor. Much more powerful than the PU L motor too, so that kinda compensates for its size, in a way, haha

In the video, it doesn't seem that loud at all. A Circuit cube sounds worse.

Luckily I've still 5 or 6 BuWizz 2.0 left (there was a discount sale a few months ago  ) and a whole box of Lego PF L motors, but the Cada L might be an alternative.
Actually I'm using two Cada M Pro motors in a BR 98.0 model which is yet under construction, as there is no space for L motors and the Cada M Pro has more torque than the Lego PF M.
