JekPorkchops Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Two MOCs of Speed Racer movie cars in the 8-wide Speed Champions scale. They are built using only legal techniques and re-use the sticker sheets of the official sets from 2008. The Mach 5 has removable sawblades and an articulating tire shield. The Shooting Star comes with three removable, articulating double machine guns. More images are available on Flickr Quote
Daiman Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Great builds! you have re visioned these well I see the originals were from TLG chunky sticker period ... Quote
Kaijumeister Posted April 28 Posted April 28 This brings back so many memories being a kid in 2008 and feeling so much hype for the film. The sets were such good value as well! Your MOCs are incredible, nice job! It would be a dream to see the Mach 5 or 6 in Speed Champions someday. Quote

Thanks. The stickers are actually 3rd party replicas. I have the original sets but I cannot check them right now, I don't know how similar the sheets are. Thanks, I would love to see at least the Mach 5 as an official Speed Champions set as well but I doubt that will happen. Luckily there are all these nice new parts that were introduced since the official sets in 2008 that made these MOCs possible. Quote
R0Sch Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Great job on the shapes and part usage. Looks much better than what the competition is bringing out this year as 1:24 scale sets. Quote

I am not that familiar with other brands outside the hobby. Quote

There are two sets coming out later this year from CaDA. There were also these from LEGO back in the days: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Speed-Racer Quote

I might pick those up to see what they are like as I don't plan on designing the anime versions. And the official Lego sets inspired these remakes. I reused the sticker sheets as well. Quote
