Wouldnt it be a good move to make a new Spiderverse set for the summer? Seeing as it could capitalize on the CMF and a new Spider-man movie coming out.
Honestly I'd wish for the Spider-verse subtheme to become as prevalent as the MCU sets, it totally deserves it and the universe shows no signs of stopping. Aside from that it's been a looooong while since I've had this much fun collecting a CMF and displaying these colourful and unique figures.

There’s great potential filling some gaps that the current ATSV set and CMF haven’t yet filled (e.g. Prowler’s motorbike). I can see them going dormant with more sets until the next film releases though.

As much as I share the cynicism a lot of you have around Doomsday, I can’t deny I’m feeling quite excited for the film and what Lego sets we’ll get around it. Presumably the Doomsday wave should release around October? The initial No Way Home tie-in sets released that month ahead of the film’s release in December.

If we're getting the Helicarrier as the D2C in April (which seems likely now that I think about it, given the piece count and how it only makes sense for LEGO to make an updated version), I could see this being the Minifigure Line Up:

Iron Man MK VI (reuse of the Battle Damaged variant from Avengers Tower), Nick Fury, Coulson, Maria Hill (SHIELD Outfit), Captain America (First Avenger Outfit reuse from MARVEL Logo), Bucky (reuse from the Civil War set)

And I could see those minifigures on a plaque, with a black plate showing the details of the Helicarrier.

Basically, I could see the potential Helicarrier D2C being very similar to how TNG U.S.S Enterprise set is (where the set is not Minfigure scale, but the set comes with minifigures on a plaque and a black plate showing the details of the ship)

I agree with how the figures would be set up, but I don't think it makes much sense to put Bucky or WW2 Cap in the helicarrier. The Hydra helicarriers were a different design from the avengers one, and given I don't think it'll have all that many figures in the first place, I assume they'll stick to avengers. My guess would be:

Near-guarantee: Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Cap (avengers 1), Iron man

Moderately likely: Thor, Hulk (minifigure), Coulson, Loki

If it's our modular replacement and includes some figure-scale areas in the interior: Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, some shield agents/pilots/staff

Please: Galaga Guy

It’s a shame the 6160 Ultimate Universe is ending before we can get any sets. The best we can ever hope for is Iron Lad showing up in a Hall of Armour at some point.

Ultimates is honestly the my favourite Marvel book in years. Easily a top 3 out of current ongoings for me. If we could get a Comic based battle set or a new battlepack subtheme to introduce these variants of characters, I would love it.

Easily my favourite versions of Jim Hammond and America Chavez.

I do have to wonder if that means it wasn't doing as well as they thought it would- it seemed to get some acclaim at first, but the only one I ever really hear people talking about much is spider-man.

I bought the first spider-man volume and enjoyed seeing spider-man's life not be terrible for once, but I still dislike how in the wider universe most of my favorite characters are either turned into villains, don't become heroes at all, or don't even show up (but are implied to have been villains)

Same. I'm still pretty cynical, but if the movie actually focuses on Steve and Thor as much as the trailers imply, sure, I'd be interested. They do seem to have remembered how Thor is supposed to act, and it was a good reminder that the Russos tend to know what they're doing- Infinity War's Thor was my favorite take on him in the movies by far, but we'll see.

I would guess anywhere between September 15th and November 15th. The Star Wars december films used to get september/october waves, but endgame's wave was like a month out if I remember right.

Was reading on Reddit that there is no Marvel modular planned for 2026?!? Are they coming up with a DC modular instead? Or will Lego try to re-release some sets with that gimmicky smart bricks like what they are doing with the SW line?

The only rumour we have so far is that the D2C set might be a new Helicarrier and that one of the other June sets is supposedly a Batman set. No reliable leaker has backed it up yet though, so take it with a grain of salt.

Not sure what smartbricks have to do with D2C rumours

Tried to get the SM3 Epic Battle and Ghost Rider set, I waited in the queue and got in a minute after midnight. SM3 Epic Battle was ALREADY sold out and the ghost rider set isn't even appearing on lego.com US for me. Daily Bugle is out of stock as well, though I was going to wait for a discount on that one.

It's like this for a number of sets in other themes too, I can't remember it ever being this bad- sell-out-half-the-wave-in-multiple-themes-within-5-minutes bad. Either this january selection is really good or lego isn't putting up enough stock.

Posted (edited)

I'd expect the latter. People around here report that the Stranger Things set (Creel House) sold out within minutes and is now on back order. Even though Stranger Things is huge at the moment, plus there's an exclusive GWP with two figures that are missing from the main set, so they should have expected a large amount of demand during the first couple of days.

Also this may be a regional thing but I doubt many people would have wanted the specific sets you mention at midnight on New Year's Eve of all times. None of them seem to be exclusive, or enough to qualify for a GWP or even free shipping, so I'd expect most to wait a bit for a chance at a discount, or just to pick them up with another order sometime .

A picture of the Anti-Venom polybag / paper bag is out there, and I have to say, it‘s rare a set makes me laugh out loud :laugh_hard: That Anti-Venom variant is hilarious!

To be fair, midnight on new year's eve is when the sets come out. It's pretty common for some of the exclusives to sell out pretty fast- used to be every time a clone trooper battle pack released it was sold out within a half hour.

Yeah, I'm not sure what lego was thinking here- we had two figures in last year's polybag. We have two figures in this year's batman polybag. Why does Anti-Venom need to be a weird anti-venomized infant? Such a strange choice.

A number of photos of actors in their costumes have leaked for Doomsday (Either costume tests, or the photos they take for promos/to design merch off or whatever) and there is definitely some interesting information:

Spoiler

Mystique has a comic accurate-ish white costume- I can't remember if she's ever worn that before in the films? It looks fine from what I can see- her costume isn't particularly interesting but at least she's allowed to wear clothes now.

Cyclops is just in a darker blue version of the '97 suit, as we saw in the trailer, it looks great.

John appears to have a more armored design, it looks sick and I'll be needing two John figures now. Also gives me hope that that stupid beret is gone, since it's not in any of the pictures and you'd imagine a more armored suit would include a helmet.

Red Guardian seemingly has a full head of hair, and cleaned up his beard a bit. This confuses and frightens me. His shield has also returned- I don't like that they're making him look more similar to cap.

The Fantastic Four have letterman jackets. This works on Johnny but Pedro Pascal in this costume no longer even remotely resembles reed. If I didn't know the castings and you made me guess, I would have assumed he was also Johnny.

Magneto looks like he's about to tell us that a communications disruption can only mean one thing- Invasion

I think this is our best look at the Doom costume so far, it's fairly solid. Very dark and medival looking- it looks like somebody took the Rivals design, desaturated it, and toned it down from an 11 to like an eight. He's also playing chess or some other strategy game in 90% of his photos.

Not really, no. Surely they had anticipated demand for the Stranger Things set given the IP's current popularity and the exclusive GWP, so for it to sell out within literally minutes seems like a glitch/oversight - they should have had enough stock to keep it going for at least a day or two. Again, the set itself was marked as sold out, not just the GWP! In fact a few people report that they got the GWP but the set itself was on back order, which seems nonsensical since surely they would not have fewer sets than GWPs. The back order also reportedly gave a delivery time of 60 days (and again that was within minutes of the set coming out) which is baffling given that Stranger Things is this popular now, with the last part of the season dropping on New Year's Eve, but might no longer be so in two months' time.

I don't argue against exclusive sets selling out fast no matter at what ridiculous time LEGO insist on dropping them. But the two you mention aren't exclusives to the best of my knowledge, they don't qualify for a GWP or even free shipping, and you said yourself that one wasn't even shown on the website (not "sold out" but simply not shown), so again that seems more like a glitch/oversight than really huge demand.

I hadn’t heard about these until now! Not 100% certain on if they’re real or not (with the sheer amount of AI generated “leaks” around one can never be sure) but they all seem to match the character portraits from a leaked crew bag I think, so if it’s slop, it’s slop with some basis in reality.

Spoiler

I think Mystique had a costume that resembled her white dress at the end of Apocalypse, but then everyone had accurate suits at the end of that film that were never used again. I’ll be curious as to how they incorporate her shape shifting into the suit.

Cyclops in dark blue looks great, even as someone who’s not a fan of the Jim Lee suit. If Lego opt to use dark blue for his Minifigure then I’m sure he’ll be lacking the dual moulded boots that already exist and he should have.

Is John’s suit not the same as the Thunderbolts post credits? I ask because I genuinely didn’t see the scene, my dad switched off the film after the first post credits assuming that was it and I haven’t had the chance to watch it since. I was under the impression that the scene was believed to be ripped straight from Doomsday or at least shot by the Russos.

With Magneto seemingly having a beard this time around from the images and the leaked trailer, I hope Lego’s planning on reusing the Gandalf head from the Shire/Book nook. The same goes for the Captain Picard head for Charles.

As much as I hate the RDJ casting, I can’t deny that the Doom design so far looks excellent.

With Lego’s new Epic Moments subline starting up, does anyone think there’s any likelihood we finally get a Hulk vs Abomination set out of it? The Hulkbuster set shows that it can work with two big characters and there’s not all that much interesting terrain to replicate outside of the fight itself. Chuck in some police car boxing gloves for Hulk and I think they’d be onto a winner.

Also thought that this could be a way to give us a better sized Iron Monger. I know the set wasn’t all that long ago, but I skipped it due to how out of scale the monger was and I’d love to see a redone version similar in size to the new Hulkbuster.

I'm pretty sure they aren't AI. The details on each suit seem consistent from picture to picture, nobody's hands or faces seem messed up, and the details on (trailer 3 character) match the shot in trailer 3 almost 1:1 (his cheekbones look weird, but as people were pointing out in the comments, *trailer 3 character's actor* just kind of has weird cheekbones)

Spoiler

Right, I forgot about that scene. I assume it'll just be part of her, sort of like how plastic man's suit is part of him in DC.

Agreed, no way we get dual molded legs.

I don't think so? I'd have to rewatch the post-credits, but I thought his suit there was just the Thunderbolts suit with the stupid beret. Bucky and Yelena also appear to have different suits than in the post-credits, though it's possible they've just removed the Avengerz logos from them.

Yes- those would both be wise re-uses in a wave that is going to need to make a limited budget spread across a lot of characters.

100% agreed- the chestplate looks like a Terracotta warrior. And it would have looked better on someone besides RDJ (Though it's possible in these images it IS someone besides RDJ)

But there's a limit to how much of a set lego can produce- they don't have infinite capacity, and if they think there'll be more demand for something it would involve producing less of another set. Especially for a set that requires a specific mold, there's a limit to how many they can make in the first place. As for the 60 day backorder- that's how long lego anticipates it will make to produce the next run of sets in that quantity. I'm sure if they could do it sooner they would, but they can't just apparate them in. And if the customer places the order now, I'm sure lego doesn't really care if the show's still as popular in two months.

Also, while I don't think I've seen it on this scale before, it's not at all uncommon for one or two sets in a release wave to go on backorder/out of stock within an hour. I mainly only buy day 1 for sets in the star wars theme, but I remember there sets like the 2020 mandalorian battle pack, 2021 Trouble on Tatooine, and a number of clone battle packs before they became oversaturated would sell out very quickly. (The Ghost Rider set was a glitch though, it's up on the website now- but the others are notably still on backorder)

Unless they brick-build Abomination, I think it's unlikely. As you say, there's not much to replicate outside of the fight itself- the Hulkbuster works because it's brick-built, but a harlem epic moment would essentially be two big figs on the black base with ~100 pcs of terrain/boxing gloves. It'd be a set the size of the $25 SM3 battle but the cost of the $50 hulkbuster.

Iron Monger, on the other hand, I could totally see happening.

Thanos Battle on Titan feels like a shoe-in for an Epic Battle set this year with his long awaited accurate IW outfit, I think every heros outfit has already been made as well. I'm actually amazed it's taken this long to get a proper IW Thanos.

But I really just want Raimi Goblin and I'm good to go with Marvel Movie figures.

I think Battle on Titan may be more likely as a full-sized diorama given the amount of characters involved, but I guess there's no reason that the dioramas wouldn't also be branded as Epic Battle sets now.

They had the Ghost Rider Bike at my local walmart (weirdly enough, they had the $10 sets stocked, but nothing else from january, and it rang up as "Site merch" in the self checkout rather than "lego" *set number*), and with that I'm finally able to finish my Midnight Sons display

IMG_6132.jpg

Honestly, most of my small concerns about the set have been allayed. Ghost Rider's face doesn't look weird at all in-person, and the bike looks perfectly serviceable with the stud shooters removed- though I will give it some more modification. For $10, it's a really excellent set- honestly, even without spider-man I would probably find it fine value for $10, so I'm glad they threw another figure in there.

It is a little strange that Spidey is fighting ghost rider, but maybe Johnny's finally just trying to get spidey to pay for his sins after One More Day.

The Spider-Man 3 Epic Moment set is quite possibly the set I would've wanted most as a kid. It feels so nostalgic to finally have it, after all those years.

I hope they continue this little subtheme to give us more cool, affordable and displayable sets.

It’s a winning formula and reminds me of the earliest years of this theme - we’d get so many of those £20 3-minifigure sets.

Not that there needs to be any correlation, but Hot Toys have unveiled a new battle damaged Spidey from the first Raimi film. Maybe it’s not so far fetched for Lego to follow suit.

Same, managed to get it recently. I'm glad the tile is printed, so I may eventually use it for displaying a custom battle area for the characters.

I'm probably going to order a New Goblin as I doubt Lego will release one, but I could easily see a set featuring Eddie Brock, Sandman (More normal looking) and Symbiote Spider-man representing where he broke the camera and went into the sewers to find Sandman.

Unless they end up just releasing a Spider-man 3: Final Battle set and we wind up getting MJ, J.J.Jameson, Venom, New Goblin, Sandman, Spider-man and perhaps Symbiote Spider-man just thrown in.

Here's my guesses on the upcoming April/June Marvel sets that are currently unnamed:

  • 76345 - A Ant-Man Bust
  • 76347 - An Epic Battle Moment
  • 76348 - Mini-Modular Sanctum Sanctorum (MCU Based)
  • 76354 - D2C Helicarrier
  • 76349 - Brand New Day set
  • 76350 - Brand New Day set
  • 76352 - A Venom Bust

I'm thinking maybe 76339 is an Doomsday set? Alongside 76340, 76351, and 76353?

That spiderman figure is definitely based on his BND suit — hoping that its quality matches the Mark 3 from January

Would also be thrilled if they made a Doctor Doom in that style

Even with Lego cutting back on sets for new releases, I’d be shocked if we didn’t get at least 2 sets for BND.
