SNIPE Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Hi, Back when power functions was king, I had a small rechargeable battery box with 1 output, a barrel jack for charging, and a speed potentiometer /pole reverser. I didn't need to mess with finding AA/AAA batteries, I did not need to use an external battery charger I did not need to pair a device I did not need to worry about some smart hub nonsense failing to turn the hub on just because the battery was slightly less than fully charged I did not need to install apps on my phone or smart device I did not need to configure any apps I did not need to "synchronize" my motors before I could even do anything (thanks to stupid robot inventor, I build the model then couldn't even use it because I didn't sync the motors first) I did not get stupid errors even though I did everything right which already took ages I did not need a game controller or to pair anything like that I just pressed a button and could use my LEGO electronics just fine. I have not even used anything that uses powered up that much ever since my PF parts died. My question is, are there any products like this but for powered up connectors. USB or barrel jack is just fine. Quote
Stereo Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) Several Powered Up sets have a non-remote hub where you just turn the motors on with switches on the hub - the Lighthouse, red/white Airbus helicopter, and most recently the EC500 Excavator. It's part 85825. I've used one with a battery-replacement set similar to this one: https://www.amazon.ca/T-HOT-Adjustable-Battery-Eliminator-Batteries/dp/B08QVLCCXG It needed cutting a small groove to get the wire out of the battery case cover, but after that, no more batteries, just put it in USB when I want to run it. (this example goes to a wall socket, the one I actually own provides 5V usb, which is enough for what I use it on) I haven't tried this specific product, it's just to give an idea what they look like. 2GodBDGlory Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I guess one option would be to get the "dumb" hub Stereo mentioned, and then pair it with the 3rd-party rechargeable battery for PU hubs discussed in this topic: However, the associated website seems to have all units being out of stock: https://phondly.com/product/enbo-pu-battery-pack/ Maybe if you reach out to @Phondly you could get some information about whether there are any available?
