berninhr Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Hello I thought I would share with you my latest build. It's a red coat 112 gun 1st rate ship of the line called the Monarch. The sturn The Bow A few details on the deck One last shot of the ship Please let me know what you think! Edited February 8 by berninhr Quote
GeoBrick Posted February 8 Posted February 8 A Massive effort. She has a good color scheme, the masts seems to be in the right positions, and you left plenty of space between the gun hatches on the lower gun decks. Most builders leave it at 3 or 4 studs between the cannon hatches. From detailing, I like those golden wings on the upper stern, those golden epaulets, the lanterns, and the curvature of the stern sides. Those red crabs look a bit out of place. No golden crabs in your possession? What seems to be missing is an indication of the gaff sail and the jibs. Also, the curved 'railing' from the poop deck should continue a bit forward so the stairs leading to the deck are covered. Those spots seem a bit unprotected as it is. Quote
Franco Clarke Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Awesome work, great to see her with a crew on deck. Just needs a suitable barge for the boat deck. Quote
Siroco Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Amazing ship of the line! Congrats! The crewman with the head at 180° is a bit creepy, is there an exorcist a board? Quote
Feuer Zug Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Massive ship and lots of details. Great work on this masterpiece. Quote
Jack Sassy Posted February 12 Posted February 12 An impressive vessel ye have crafted! I do appreciate the little details such as the doors to the forecastle, a feature one does not see often. Be there more detail below decks? Either way, good job! Quote
Sebeus I Posted February 13 Posted February 13 That's a lot of cannons! Love the lion figurehead. Quote
BrickPerfection Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Very impressive that you managed to finish a model of this size! I like how you built the bow - it curves in two directions and even though the hinged sections are four studs, the gaps are small. Well done! Quote

And yeah the stay sails will get added when I get around to adding the rest of the sails. I see what you mean about the railings around the stairs I should be able to move them forward a bit to fix the issue On 2/8/2026 at 3:57 PM, Franco Clarke said: Awesome work, great to see her with a crew on deck. I do have some fitting boats but wanted to leave it empty for the photos as it's the first of my ship that can fit a sailor standing up On 2/8/2026 at 4:26 PM, Siroco said: Amazing ship of the line! Not sure if it makes it more or less creepy but it's a double sided face. On 2/9/2026 at 1:32 PM, Feuer Zug said: Massive ship and lots of details. Great work on this masterpiece. It's always fun adding little details like that! In this case it made the bow easier to design. On 2/13/2026 at 11:40 AM, Marooned Marin said: Beautiful! Thank you! Well it designed based on a Spanish ship so you can never have to many guns 21 hours ago, BrickPerfection said: Very impressive that you managed to finish a model of this size! The bow is always the hardest bit the get right it's based on a design I used for smaller ships and luckily it worked when you scaled! Quote
