StarBricks Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Like every year, on February 7th, I am proud to present my latest work. IN DEFENSE OF THE LAST CRYSTAL TD-Project SB01001 This time, I drew inspiration from the Tank Driver, at the controls of the TX-225w assault tank, tasked with transporting Kyber Crystals on Jedha. The MOC is built with 4,349 bricks and depicts the upper torso of the Tank Driver emerging from the vehicle’s top hatch. The helmet’s distinctive shape and the soldier’s color scheme immediately captured my attention, becoming the core of the entire project. The assault tank itself, with its unmistakable design, also sparked my curiosity. While designing the hatch, I discovered that its concept was inspired by the legendary British armored vehicle Alvis Stormer, a detail that further enriched the creative process. Quote
Daiman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 What a beauty! as usual your attention to detail and style have captured another great Star Warsy moment. You can almost picture the rest of the scene from this snippet you have designed. Imagine the size the whole tank would be... Quote
StarBricks Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 Thanks Daiman! Actually, the initial idea was to build the entire tank (smaller, obviously), but while doing some research online, I came across some images of the Tank Driver emerging from the hatch, and it struck me as an iconic scene. I also discovered that the design of this tank was inspired by a real British half-track. To create the hatch details, I carefully studied images of real armored vehicles. Quote
Guyinaplaguemask Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Oh man, this is awesome! one of my favorite sequences in recent Star Wars, you've done really well. Quote
StarBricks Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 Yes, I agree! I also have to say that Rogue One is a film that offers a lot of ideas and has a really beautiful overall design, in line with the original trilogy. I love this film!! Quote
lowlead Posted February 11 Posted February 11 An excellent piece for sure!! A most unique format as well - not really a bust, not a full figure...I can't say I've seen anything quite like this. And the scale! This is a giant model. The armor detail is fantastic and - as always - your photography is exemplary. Thanks for posting this - LOVE IT! (And yes, RO is right in line with my personal SW 'head canon' linking Andor and the OT) Quote

(And yes, RO is right in line with my personal SW 'head canon' linking Andor and the OT) The most beautiful and relaxing part of designing and building is studying every tiny detail and finding the most appropriate solution to recreate it while respecting its design and proportions. It's a constant and fun challenge. Quote
