squiz18 Posted Thursday at 08:45 AM Posted Thursday at 08:45 AM Looking forward to seeing what they do with this. Our family really enjoys the film. Brickset had a good list of potential sets. https://brickset.com/article/129874/lego-kpop-demon-hunters-what-could-the-sets-be I'd like a CMF just as a good way to get the figures. Quote
Lion King Posted Friday at 06:55 PM Posted Friday at 06:55 PM Huh, what are K-Pop Demon Hunters?? I will look it up. Quote

Have we ever had a licenced CMF series after just one movie? I can't think of any. The Spiderverse CMF series came after two, and that was after everyone already knew Spider-Man because of other media properties. The most recent Marvel CMF series had a bunch of characters from fairly niche properties (such as Echo whose own series had not even debuted then, who'd just been introduced in the Hawkeye series, and also Kate Bishop), but again that was within the frame of the larger MCU. Shrek now reportedly gets one to go with movie number five (plus two Puss in Boots movies). The D&D series comes from a game that has been around for decades. I just feel that K-Pop Demon Hunters, despite its success, may be too young an IP for a licenced CMF series. Edited Saturday at 07:12 AM by brickbride Quote
Karalora Posted Saturday at 03:18 PM Posted Saturday at 03:18 PM Are there even enough characters in KPDH for a CMF line? Even if there aren't any character minifigs included with the sets and they all go to the CMF, that's: The three girls in HUNTR/X Bobby The five Saja Boys The mentor woman from the previous demon hunter group (whose name escapes me at the moment) I guess the doctor they visit early on? That's just 11 specific characters. I guess the 12th could be a K-pop fan or a generic demon, but that doesn't seem very satisfying. Quote
squiz18 Posted Saturday at 04:02 PM Posted Saturday at 04:02 PM I mentioned a cmf as its talked about in the bricklink article. They've given a potential lineup of 12 Quote
brickbride Posted Saturday at 04:24 PM Posted Saturday at 04:24 PM Again I don't think that's likely. Not only for the reason I've given - that properties typically only get CMFs after multiple movies or after having been around for a couple of decades (D&D, Simpsons, Muppets ...), but also because K-Pop Demon Hunters is supposedly a minidoll theme. Those can have adult-oriented sets with minifigs as well (we've had a couple in Wicked and Disney sets) but with K-Pop Demon Hunters it would look especially weird because their anime look (very thin, very long legs) is much, much closer to minidolls than to minifigs. We have never seen a CMF series based on an IP this current, unless you count specific adaptions, in which case Marvel would be the winner between ATSV and the D+ shows In my eyes, the bigger issue is the lack of characters to fill the roster, unless they’d feature two costume variants for the girls and/or both demon and human versions of some of the Saja Boys. Doable, yes, but I think it would make more sense for a CMF to be made once the sequel comes out. By then, the IP is firmly established and the sequel should introduce more characters to add to the roster Quote
