Mandalorianknight Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Merry Christmas, everyone. This is, obviously, very late- it was actually meant to come out last christmas, but I got very delayed. I finally had some time to finish it up this holiday. The idea is that it's a follow-up to last year's 25th anniversary sets. Every system set includes an anniversary figure, and I tried to cover a variety of source material, playset/vs vehicles, and the like. If you're new to my MOC style, I try to emulate lego's official set design schema, which means things like stud shooters and attempting to make sure my MOCs meet stability standards. It also means we get microfighters, battle packs, and other gimmick sets. As I use stud.io for my mocs, which has a limited figure print inventory, the figures are meant to just be placeholders/preliminaries. Additional images and descriptions are in the spoiler below each set: Darth Vader's Starfighter Microfighter (98 pieces) Spoiler Pretty straightforward. I still wanted it to feel special, so I gave it a battle-damaged darth vader figure. Classic X-wing vs TIE Fighter Microfighter Dual Pack (201 pieces) Spoiler Some more pretty standard builds, though here with the addition of the classic color schemes. the figures would also have a more classic look. Clone Specialists Battle Pack (132 pieces) Spoiler Our first set with an anniversary figure. L-R we have a Clone Commando, Clone ARF trooper, Clone Engineer (Battlefront 2005) and special anniversary Clone ARC Trooper (TCW2003). The build is a more size-accurate AT-RT Sandtrooper Patrol Battle Pack (215 pieces) Spoiler This dewback might be my favorite build of the wave (aside from one other one you'll see later). Included are 2x Enlisted Sandtrooper, 1x Sandtrooper Commander, and 1x special anniversary Shadow Trooper (mid-phasing) Rebel Combat Speeder (126 pieces) Spoiler As I've mentioned, this wave was very delayed, and when I first came up with the set ideas the 2024 rebel combat speeder remake wasn't yet leaked. I kept this in as I downsized the speeder instead of the 2024 set's increased size, and also for the LSWTCS videogame tie-in. The set includes a small minikit build that can be attached to the back of the speeder, and of course has the standard removable turret. It comes with Rebel Friend and a special anniversary Beach Trooper, who I believe are the only two figures in the wave I went and designed custom torso prints for. Imperial Outpost (312 pieces) Spoiler This is a general imperial set combining some common elements such as the speeder bike, crate, and turbolaser battery with a generic bunker. It's always fun to evolve my imperial speeder design every year or two, I'm happy with the current version, but as with every time I come back to it I'm sure I'll find something to change later. We've got a small interior here- you can see the sliding door, a small holotable for the officer to communicate with, and a targeting console for the turbolaser. It was fun integrating the new stud shooters into the turbolaser. Includes Luke Skywalker (based on his Heir to the Empire design), an Imperial Intelligence officer, a Scout Trooper, and (say it with me, @CloneCommando99, a special anniversary Mara Jade minifigure.) Assault on Kamino (471 pieces) Spoiler A little bland in terms of color scheme and being terrain/background, but after that obi-wan vader duel set from 2022 (Or Peridea last year) I think anything's possible in that regard. We've got a few play features here, mainly just destructible elements. Comes with two brick-built aqua droids and five minifigures: Anakin Skywalker (TCW armor), Asajj Ventress, Echo (phase 1), ARC Trooper Blitz, and special anniversary figure Starkiller (Force Unleashed 2) Black One X-wing Starfighter (680 pieces) Spoiler Crazy engineering went into this one- a similar effect to the 2024 X-wing is achieved for the front fuselage, but there's a completely different interior design to allow for the landing gear to fit inside. The engines may be slightly oversized, but it was either oversized or undersized and more elliptical than circular. Cockpit has a display and some joysticks, and there's of course a spot for BB-8 as well. turning the gear in the back changes the wing position with the aid of rubber bands (that I don't have in the file, but wrap around those blue 3L pins you can see the openings for in this image) The set comes with Poe Dameron, BB-8, Finn, a First Order Stormtrooper, and special anniversary Captain Cardinal. Final Duel on Exegol (744 pieces) Spoiler We've got some play features- the statues can be toppled, and there's functions to knock people standing in front of the throne backwards/into a chasm. We've got the Ommin Harness on one side of the build here for zombie palpatine. And of course the sith throne. All the sections here are modular, so they can be swapped around to change the layout. The set comes with Rey, Ben Solo, Zombie Palpatine, Eternal Palpatine, and special anniversary Darth Momin Ultimate Coruscant Space Battle (1026 pieces) Spoiler A sort of remake of the 2005 Ultimate Space Battle set (I cut one of the vulture droids). Two etas, a tri-fighter, and vulture. Two etas here, downsized from the more recent ones as they've been getting unreasonably large. I'm honestly pretty proud of these. Here's a loot at the back of the tri-droid and the eta. And here's the vulture droid in walk mode, thanks to some mixel joints. The set comes with two buildable buzz droids, as well as Obi-Wan (outer robe and headset), Anakin (outer robe and headset), R2-D2, Obi-Wan's astromech, General Grievous (with cape) and special anniversary Captain Fordo (Phase 2). Y-wing vs TIE Advanced (1341 pieces) Spoiler A remake of the 1999/2004 set, seeing as it's been forever since our last version of either of these ships. Y-wing of course has the bomb drop function, which is loaded via the trapdoor up top. This is the only other custom print I made, on the windscreen, because the stud.io inventory doesn't include the 2017 y-wing windscreen print. Here's the TIE advanced, it shares some cockpit elements with my TIE Avenger moc from awhile back. The sand blue is a nod to the 1999 set's blue, but honestly I really like it. But if you must have the LBG version, Comes with Darth Vader, Dutch Vander, a Rebel Technician, Grand Moff Tarkin, a Rebel Astromech, and special anniversary Kyle Katarn. Lego shop exclusive: Battle of Hoth (352 pieces) Spoiler Much like the small 2024 lego exclusive for the theme was a remake of the 2008 battle packs, this is a remake of the 2010 ones. The rebel build is the Rebel Cannon Sled, which IS a canon vehicle, though one that has so little concept art I couldn't even tell whether or not the front driver seat a lot of fanart adds is canon. I added it anyway as it makes the build more interesting to me. The empire gets their remake as well, with a larger forward command buildup and the non-canon artillery. Look at that recolor of the speeder from the imperial outpost set. Here's some small bits- the interior of the cannon sled, the laser cutter removed from the sled, the back of the imperial forward command, and the uplink station removed from the terrain. The set comes with Zev Senesca, 2x Hoth Rebel Trooper, special anniversary Moustache Rebel, 2x snowtrooper, an Imperial Officer in field gear, and an AT-AT driver. GWP 1: GNK droid pen holder (61 pieces) The pens aren't part of the build, they're just there as an example. GWP 2: Dagan Gera (209 pieces) Spoiler Based off the ancient Koboh laboratory room where Cal finds Dagan. The bacta tank can be removed so you can stage the fight scene in the same room. Weapons can be stored around the back, and the bacta tank obviously can have one side taken off to put Dagan in. It comes with Dagan Gera (who technically shouldn't have his force arm yet in this scene, but I don't think lego's ever made a figure with a fully missing arm before, and you can just remove it) and Cal Kestis with BD-1 on his shoulder. I have one other set as well, but the complexity and size were more than I expected, so I ended up excluding it in favor of giving it it's own post later. Let me know what you guys think! Quote
Kaijumeister Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) This is amazing man! Your MOCs continue to impress. - The Battle of Hoth, Microfighter dual pack, and TIE Advanced vs. Y-Wing give me a huge nostalgia rush. You’ve nailed the builds and the original Lego colour schemes used for the TIEs are a great touch. - Maintaining a transparent cockpit window for the TIE Advanced is great. I’m not a fan of how recent TIEs like the Bomber and RTG TIE Fighter cockpit windows don’t actually allow you to see the pilots inside. - Black One’s proportions look awesome (and the sloping fuselage is something I hope we see more of in future X-Wings). This is such a perfect ST tie-in set, it’s really a shame that buildable figures, helmets, and midi-scale ships are LEGO’s only attempt to make ST sets. - Very novel and well-realised GWP ideas too, especially the GONK stationary holder. Awesome set lineup all in all. The potential for Lego Star Wars across the the range of canon and non-canon media is so vast and it’s somewhat sad that Lego themselves don’t really exploit that. Really is a bittersweet feeling seeing creative and ambitious ideas like this amidst the current state of the theme. Edited 13 hours ago by Kaijumeister Quote
