Pales27 Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Hello everyone! This is my pneumatic backhoe, redesign of the classic 8455 set. Main features: motorized wheel drives and steering (power funtions) motorized air pumps 7 pneumatic functions 2 speed gearbox lights (power funtions) Building Instructions available on Rebrickable: https://reb.li/m/228753 Quote
1gor Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 That MOC is very very interesting...I see powerfunctions and BuWizz battery box (something I have in my inventory). Looks very nice, the only complain?! is that it is not fully RC Quote

allanp Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Front paged. Welcome to Eurobricks @Pales27. Fantastic model for sure. I think having RC drive/steering and directly operated functions is a fair compromise at this scale. To include more functions to the already impressive list of functions would require a larger scale and right now you're limited to the size of the pneumatics, especially with the rear main raise and lower function. But look how well 1 L motor can power 7 functions with good performance . My only wish for this medium scale back hoe would be to somehow squeeze in a larger compressor or tune the gearing to the compressor to get the maximum power out of the motor. I think you might get away with a 1:1 gear ratio instead of your current 3:5. But as it is, it's great! Quote

Yes the L motor has enough power for 1:1 gear ratio for the pumps. It is up to you which gear ratio do you prefer if you build it :D For me easier to handle the backhoe cylinders with this ratio (less air) and the L motor has an easy job too :D I hope one day lego will introduce RC pneumatic valves and I will be able to build it into my model. Jundis Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 Beautiful recreation of the original! I always wondered when Lego will this tire combination in a model. As it seem they are not willing to do so, you gave me the answer :D For my taste it didn't even have to be motorized, but implementing it into the already cramped room cause of the pneumatics, it makes it even more impressive. gyenesvi Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 Nice work cramming al those functions in there along with the RC drive / pump! It really shows how hard it is even just to route all the cables / switches, even without RC pneumatics. Quote
Aleh Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 One of my favourite sets ever. MOC is great, especiall technically! From my pb this 5*11 panel instead of the bonnet simplifies the overlook. But this is a questionn of a personal taste :) Will consider building this to learn something new :) Quote
