30716 Cute Easter Bunny (Polybag 66 pcs.)

Probably March instead of January.

^I've added the prices (where applicable) as that detail helps with speculation.

The two $10 sets (31376, 31377) are interesting if they really are rated 8+.

There was one previous small set rated 8+, set 31135 which was actually a $10 set even if TLG put a scalped catalog price on it of $15, absolutey shameful and disgusting but we know by now who we're dealing with.

So I don't know how complex they can make such small sets to increase the rating from 6 usually to 8. I've would've expected a more realistic 7 (like set 31140).

Anyway, I hope the (fresh water) turtle will be more realistic in style, like in set 31158 and not like 31128.

Would the hamster be similar to the ones in set 31155? It would be interesting if these two sets could be combined.

/////

Set 31378 is difficult as missing both the price and the number of pieces means no indication of size.

But if I had to guess probably $15-20.

A shuttle and a mech would be plausible alternates.

/////

Set 31379 is very interesting, at first glance it might suggest a rehash of 31058, which would honestly be extremely lazy and derivative if it happened.

Going from $15 to $20 also doesn't mean much room for improvement regarding sculpting and techniques, as it would be expected with upscaled sets like going from 30641 to 31165. Also 31058 was actually upscaled with set 31151, which by the way represents a huge personal disappointment (subpar sculpting and overpriced relative to box content, I'm not getting this regardless of discount).

So I'm expecting other dinosaurs.

Going through possible ones that have to be iconic/recognizable first and foremost, I would say that a Stegosaurus and Ankylosaurus are very good candidates. Having similar bodies means it's easier for a relatively small set to accommodate the needed pieces, with extra ones used to differentiate them.

Despite being a plant eater the Ankylosaurus does fit the "fierce" description. The Stegosaurus maybe less so.

The other candidates are meat eaters, namely Spinosaurus, Mosasaurus and Dimetrodon. All three are recognizable. The Mosasaurus is aquatic which, similarly to the aerial Pteranodon in set 31058, provides a bit of variety in a set dominated by terrestrial dinos. A larger example was already made in set 76974.

Now regarding scale I don't know if the three models are supposed to be in scale relative to each other. If yes this would influence the order of the models with the biggest being first. So I'll stop here by saying I'm optimistic regarding this set.

/////

Set 31381 is the highlight for me, the name pretty much suggesting a rehashed and upscaled 31088 (a set I'm very fond of).

Now if done right it could be a banger (the price is over twice as much so content wise there is a substantial room for improvement).

Obviously this means NOT imitating the shark in set 21350 as that was subpar in my opinion. I mean compared to the absolute torpedo that the original submission had it's not even close. Color wise hopefully sand blue (on the back) instead of both dark blue and dark gray.

Fingers crossed, hopefully it will be stellar!

/////

Set 31385 probably has the sort of animal family idea like set 31165 (all models), set 31150 (C model). The name isn't very inspired, as "Beautiful" was already used in set 31166. "Playful" would make more sense for me when I think of dolphins. Color wise hopefully sand blue.

Seems TLG is dropping the ball regarding set names, the most obvious being set 31171 Majestic Rhino, reusing "Majestic" from set 31129. "Imposing" was the optimal adjective for the rhino.

So yeah, TLG needs to get back on track, 2025 was absolute free fall as far as I'm concerned, and with the rise of alt brands it makes switching all the easier.

/////

For the other sets I have to wait and see, just from the titles I'm not getting much reason for excitement.

Ok so we have images of the cat polybag and the hamster.

The cat is basically of rehash of 30574 (only the primary model, the alternates are different).

Given the similar size format, I can see some improvements in the head and face, but not for the rest of the body and limbs.

Thus taking into account the 6 year difference between the sets I'm feeling underwhelmed by this one (yeah I know it's just a polybag). The alternates also seem a bit worse than the previous or at most on par which overall doesn't help this set score a win over its predecessor.

/////

The hamster doesn't look like those in set 31155. It looks much better. The alternates are okay, but obviously not in the same league as the hamster, they're negatively affected by the size format and part deficit. Nice small set.

Yeah, that's a shame

Still a big chance for minifig sets in June or August as that has been a thing for the recent years now, especially since 2026 again has 0 yet, and all the 2026 are basicly small/medium.

So I guess this is the year of remakes for Creator.  All I'm seeing is random parts packs, nothing that seems really interesting and need to buy for me.  Hope the summer wave is better.

I do hope summer will have something for Pirates , the ship/island/tavern 3-in-1 set sold from 2020-2025 (over 2x longer then Viking Ship) , and the shark/raptor/castle got followups (and recolor for the dino set)

You can count on TLG to ruin a theme. :thumbdown:

This wave is... very dissapointing, a few sets are fine but some of them are almost IQ tests, like the Hulkbuster, Hoopty, Thestral Family or whatever other overpriced trash TLG has put forth in recent years.

The $10 ones are fine. Although that empty space in the back of the hamster's head when it's in sitting position that is pure nightmare fuel right there!

About 31380 JANG said it well that kids can't be attracted to something that imitates the shape of a real device but not its functions, I mean why would they waste their time with that when they can play on a real console??? But yeah I'm sure TLG conducted some scientific feedback tests with real kids so they must know they're doing, right?

31379 is one of the most lazy remakes I can think of, I mean 31058 just retired, it can still be found, why make something that looks so close? Only a handful of pieces weren't available in 2017, so pretty much this new dino could have been made almost exactly the same back in 2017, this is what 9 years of progress brings?

And it's not just looks, but also building techniques, many parts are common it's so lazy. And that C- model, really? From this inventory that is the official C-model? That looks like it was made by a 4-5 year old. It definitely took the designer a single afternoon to make, it's so blocky and unfinished. And they have the guts to put 8+ on the box, with that C-model? The main model is 90% plates/bricks on top just like 31058, here we have a bit more pieces. It's 7+ period, is false marketing the new M.O. from TLG now? I wonder if the designer has the guts to be credited on Brickset, he would be the laughing stock of Rebrickable, he will always be remembered as the 31379 Stego-guy.

Last but not least is the price which is an absolutely fair $20 but a scalped €25, why? Well to counteract the discounts of course. Meaning I need to wait (likely for BF) for a 40% discount so the set is €15, then I can pretend its price was €20 and I got it at a 25% discount. Disgusting attitude by TLG, I had hoped that small sets intended primarily for kids will not be used for price wars or such crap. They have enough adult sets well over $100 that they can use for the tariff war or whatever, small sets must have price parity. I hope people from the EU that buy sets like 31379 directly from LEGO will deduct a star from the maximum rating motivating that the increased price is the culprit, maybe TLG will eventually learn to stop this crap.

Now for set 31381 they did this one dirty. They're charging $35 for this. The 31163 cat has more parts, similar mass or a smidge more and costs $25. This new shark set wouldn't look great at $30 but at $35 it's purely an IQ test. Interestingly the shark could have looked amazing, I mean it looks miles better compared to that "one weekend exercise" that was the Jaws set. Unfortunately it's missing about 4 studs of tail, the narrowest portion just in front of the tail fin (the Jaws shark has that). On the model it cuts off abruptly leaving the tail too short and fat in front of the tail fin. There was clearly enough budget left to complete the shark, I mean the original $30 budget not this $35 BS. Hard pass, they managed to ruin what I had hoped to be a glorious upscaled remake.

Set 31385 is another one with inflated price (25% because mansions, limos and yachts are more expensive). Based on its part count, mass and general inventory uniqueness it's 100% a $40 set but somehow TLG charges $50. Good luck with that! I see a lot of ordinary parts in its inventory, there's really nothing to justify the price hike, let's look at 31165 which has more pieces, more mass, likely more pages, and costs $40. Big middle finger to TLG! From the lifestyle photos it looks like the target audience is primarily girls, well I hope girls are way smarter than this and don't fall for it.

So that's it for me, I'll wait for a DEEP discount for set 31379, I'll get two to build some mech and creature alts, using one copy but also two, like in the good ol' days of Rebrickable.
