SpacePolice89 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Here are some pictures from my recent trip to Legoland Deutschland Quote
DonQuixote Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Nice! Billund has a life size Eldorado Fortress build with Duplo bricks. Also went to Lego London but I didn't like it much. (too small). Never been to a Lego park anymore as an adult. Quote

Billund is my favorite Legoland park and the Imperial Soldiers fort is my favorite thing in the park. It was almost new when I visited the park for the first time as a kid and I instantly liked it and the pirate boat ride. Last year when I visited I took some pictures after they had replaced all the pieces in the fort. Quote

Why are they replacing pieces? Are they so weather damaged? I tought they just painted the bricks over with white paint Quote
GeoBrick Posted September 11 Posted September 11 The 'hanging sailor' from the bridge must be my favourite display. Quote

I tought they just painted the bricks over with white paint Yes, they were very damaged by the sun and the weather. I visit Legoland Billund quite often and have noticed that they replace bricks that are outside when they are too yellowed and damaged. I also read about it in a book that they have certain criteria for replacing bricks because of damage from aforementioned factors. Quote

Every Lego lover must once in their life time visit Billund. You can't compare another Lego park with Billund. Billund is holy ground! Quote

During the summer I can take a direct flight to Billund or if I go off season I can fly to Copenhagen and rent a car. I am Swedish but live in Southern Finland near Helsinki. If I can afford it I prefer to take the Helsinki-Travemunde ferry and then drive to Billund or drive through Sweden. Quote
DonQuixote Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Finland.... Brrr that is beyond the Wall, in the North, the real North Quote

I live in the southernmost town in Finland that is in the only part of the country that is in the temperate climate zone (the same as Billund). Quote

You get more snow in the winter throughout early spring compared to us though. And of course its darker in winter. Edited September 13 by GeoBrick Added an emoji. Quote

SpacePolice89 Posted September 13 Author Posted September 13 If I drive about three to four hours North the climate and landscape changes dramatically. For me plants and trees like ivy, laburnum and oak are normal to see in my local woods and backyards but in most of the country they cannot survive. To be honest I prefer warmer climates and when I travel I almost always take the ferry from Åbo to Stockholm (where the closest Lego store is located) and go to central or Southern Sweden or Denmark. On Monday night this week I took the ferry from Travemunde to Helsinki to get back home after my vacation in Germany. Quote
