jimmynick Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 (edited) I've been on a bit of a Western kick lately, and horse-drawn carriages are ubiquitous in the genre. The stagecoach in The Hateful Eight, the cart that Averill gives Ella Watson in Heaven's Gate, Christoph Waltz's dentist carriage in Django Unchained, etc. etc. We've got ourselves a high-class carriage here. I guess it's from a period a bit before There Will Be Blood. Who's the lady? Does she own a stake in the local gold mine? Is she an out-of-towner? Does she, like Ella Watson, run the local bordello? Who knows. As for the driver, I was going for a middle-aged Kurt Russell vibe. Not sure I've pulled it off. Technically, the only thing it's got going for it is the studs-pointing-frickin-everywhere in the body of the carriage. Oh, and it's articulated. Technically. Thanks for looking and I hope you've enjoyed my first MOC in 6 years. Edited September 6, 2025 by jimmynick Quote
GeoBrick Posted September 6, 2025 Posted September 6, 2025 That's a very smooth build. I like how you have an odd width of the carriage, makes the overall dimensions feel just right. Quote
jimmynick Posted September 7, 2025 Author Posted September 7, 2025 Thank you @GeoBrick for the compliment! It's hardly my idea really - I think all the best LEGO cars and trains out there are 7-wide or even even larger (odd numbers only!), and if you squint the wheels make this carriage 7-wide also. Quote
KotZ Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 I like it! It's a very clean build. Any photos of the roof off to see inside? Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 There's something magical about this build that makes complex shapes smooth and simple...amazing MOC! Quote
jimmynick Posted September 10, 2025 Author Posted September 10, 2025 Thank you all for your kind words! On 9/7/2025 at 6:45 PM, KotZ said: Any photos of the roof off to see inside? I hope this cutout view helps somewhat - there's no interior as such as all the space is given over to laminating plates together to achieve the SNOT in the 5-wide geometry. Quote
BardDandelion Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 Nice shaping of the carriage. ;) Quote
