Calanon Posted yesterday at 08:39 AM Posted yesterday at 08:39 AM I recently ordered a 16x32 dbg baseplate on Bricklink and unfortunately it warped in the post. I've been trying to straighten it out by putting it in hot water and leaving it for a few hours under something heavy but to no success. Yesterday I went to 80C water for about 5 minutes and left it for about 8 hours but the bend's still there. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I could do? Alternatively, I plan on using it for a MILS plate. Does anyone know if it'll be straight with the pieces on top? If so, I may as well just get the pieces I need and not bother with the heat. Quote
Mylenium Posted yesterday at 09:24 AM Posted yesterday at 09:24 AM You would have to over-bend it on a rounded cushion or something and then gently warm it up with a blow dryer. That's how in the olden times they flattened photos on paper, BTW. Just heating it will not get rid of the warping due to how the tension is distributed between the flat areas and the studs vs. the polymer chains trying to relax even more when they feel that cozy warmth. MAB Posted yesterday at 12:40 PM Posted yesterday at 12:40 PM I would just build on it. Once you have a layer of bricks across it, and then extra weight of the build on top, it will soon lay flat. Quote
Stereo Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM If it's a smooth curve over a large part of it, building on it will work fine. If it has a sharp crease somewhere that might cause issues. Quote

DonQuixote Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Put it between a heavy load of books for a month. I have straightened bended base plates from other brick brands that way. It works. Quote
