Plumber Posted September 28 Posted September 28 So the endless repeated login requirement seems to have gone away (for me at least) so I thought progress was being made but.... I use Brickstore to manage my collection and for the first time since the merger I fired it up to import some recent purchases made through BL in August, finding it non functional and doing a bit of googling it now it seems TLG have f..k.d up the ability of Brickstore and many other third party apps to link with BL - way to go!!! Even more incredibly Studio too. Not news to many of you, I'm sure, but its left me sitting here gobsmacked. Its a small thing in the scheme of things for me, its a hobby and I can go elsewhere to enable it but I really feel for those of you who run(ran?) stores on BL. TLG say go boil, your head, the workaround is to export XML and then use that in capable third party apps, trouble is that feature is only available to sellers which I'm not. So TLG, you've taken years of hard work and dedication by huge numbers of individuals who have evolved a highly sophisticated, integrated, robust software environment and those who contributed content, one that supports your business and you smashed it to pieces in one bout of corporate greed. Dan Jezek must be spinning in his grave TLG are either mind numbingly stupid, lazy or as many feared are doing this deliberately. Given TLG recent behaviour to likes of HA Bricks and the deliberate dog in a manger scuttling of the Modulex relaunch amongst others, I'm inclined to see it as deliberate! Even if the former is the case I'm sure corporate pomposity and pride will stop them rolling back the changes and with no meaningful communication from them..... Quote

I've contacted LEGO CS twice about my email being unretrievable (that's the error I keep getting) - both times they've just said just be patient, they're working on it and to keep trying to log in. Personally, if it's not fixed by Oct 1, I'm don't know what I'm gonna do. Luckily, my brother was able to get into his account and order me stuff for the train show happening in two weeks I'm displaying at. But that was a one-time deal, so it won't be happening again, and I have other things I need to get done... Quote

Ok, so my LEGO account apparently had no email associated with it in my profile, which is strange in of itself. Now that I've got that straightened out, BL still won't work, and now just trying logs me out of LEGO .com too! What the HECK is going on!?! I messaged CS again, we will see what they say! Quote

According to some Modulex fan sites, a year or so back the rights to Modulex which was hived off by TLG years back were purchased and there was a project to relaunch Modulex architectural bricks. TLG didn't want that so they bought out the relaunching organisation and canned the project. We obviously will never know the internal family politics but from the outside it doesn't look good. Provisions and fees probably just about balance out with the operating cost The marketplace is also a useful feather in their cap from a sustainability point of view, so is very worth doing even if it works out cost-neutral. CP5670 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 The account merge worked fine for me. I'm not happy about Bricklink being run by Lego in general, but many sellers have already moved to Brickowl and other sites. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 16 Author Posted October 16 Well, I have both linked and without any of the headaches others had. I will see how things go in the future, but I have never been OK with TLG owning the major Fan market. I will remain vigilant! Quote
JesseNight Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) I had no headaches linking accounts either. Too bad I can't stay logged in anymore like I used to on Bricklink. Already had this issue on the official Lego login, just never on BL (and now on both). Timeout seems pretty fast too, even if actively browsing. Edited October 16 by JesseNight Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 18 Author Posted October 18 That sucks. My main issue is always forgetting my password, so that is fun. Between the strict rules for passwords in my workplace (usually two, one for Windows and one for the work system. Not considering the pin number for the handheld Zebra scanner....) the passwords I have to create/use for other sites and all the other myriad security considerations. I am very bad at recalling my actual password for LEGO. Ah well. I am yet to order from Bricklink recently (I have sorting guilt.) But have a few wishlists to fill and more than one sketched out project to complete. Quote
JesseNight Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Oh don't get me started about passwords at work. On my second last job we were forced to change passwords every month, it had a minimum on how much it had to differ with the last one, and a password once used was never allowed to be used again. Literally had to pull tricks like writing the month and year in full words to be able to remember. I understand security but when pushing it too far, it can backfire. Eventually they changed it, IT must have gone crazy every Monday doing password resets for people who forgot it after the weekend. Quote
