MAB Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Presumably because people have bought it and built it and written a review of it yet, or haven't modified it yet. There is some discussion of the set here and here Quote
AmperZand Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 There's also a thread for this mod. I don't have the set yet but when I do, I plan to mod it and post pics. That could be some time off though. The set's too expensive at RRP and even with the discounts already offered by Asda and Chaos Cards. I'm waiting till it's 20 - 30% off preferably at Argos as I have loyalty points there. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 (edited) Also, as it's a creator set, most conversation about the set itself should technically go in the Creator 2025 thread. That's where I would put it, at least. Edited August 6, 2025 by Murdoch17 Quote
Poco Lypso Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Think this set isnt that great aside from the figs. Definitely skipping it Quote

I especially dislike the horses and the bigger panel pieces. The build itself is pretty unappealing as well, especially if compared with what came before. As for the figs I will definitely go for the civilian torsi once it hits pab online. Not sure yet about the knights. They are great, but I wonder if I really need that many factions. Maybe I should stock up on falcons and lions before they disappear. Quote

Honestly the figs are the best iv seen in years, esp the snake knight. Everything else is awful, it’s not even comparable to the last creator castle. Quote

In the past we rarely got anything and then it started slowly, first the falcons and then the lion knights. This year we got 4 new factions, lol, thats overkill compared with the slower pace of recent years. Both lion knights and falcons are about 100 strong, with about 50 wolfpacks. Buying a new faction and equipping it can be quite costly and I wonder if I need another army faction, will probably decide once they hit pab online. Quote

That said releasing new factions only in the gum ball machine is a predatory tactic when they could sell minifigure packs with a few torsos heads and accessories. Quote
Kalais Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 (edited) Oh, I think it is ok set. If I was a kid I would definitely wanted it. As an AFOL MOCer now I look a bit different now but it looks like a good set of parts for castle builders. I really love new factions. Especially The Black Knight is awesome (why only one in set (though) :D ) Edited August 9, 2025 by Kalais Quote

My guess would be that we’ll get a Serpent/Snake Knight Castle in 2026 with a bunch of factional minifigures. Quote

I feel the same about the horse faction, I don't think I'll bother buying them on PAB. They are too close to Crown Knights. If they had been different colours then they might have been a bit more interesting. I'd prefer to see existing factions expanded rather than one or two new prints for lots of new factions. Quote

Come to think of it, the falcons and the lion knights were the two factions I had when I was a kiddo. I'm not big on nostalgia, but its still nice lego has chosen those two to bring back. The new factions are kinda, well, new, haha. Thinking about buying a few bardings before they disappear, so expensive. The nee factions dont have bardings and I doubt any of them will get any, could be wrong of course. I agree it would have been nice if we had seen more lion knights and falcon variants or a proper falcon castle. Btw are there any rumours about lego releasing a new set in the vein of the lion knights castle/market square? Quote
Lordhelmet Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 I thought the ability to add on knights from pick a brick as packs was a cool feature on this one from legos website. Not interested in the set but the ability to add 5 extra knights or horses in the purchase was a good function. Quote
Shroffy123 Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 I dont understand all the dislike for this set. I found the build and overall set to be fantastic. With that said, 1) it's a creator set. If you don't like the design, build something else. The pieces are there. Building your own MOC is why Lego is so great. 2) it's reasonable price 3) minifigs are fantastic. We have two new factions. I do think the build is rudimentary for a Castle themed set, but it is more a 3-in-1 Creator set! I gotta give Lego credit for introducing two new factions in this set, with one being a somewhat complete lineup of essential characters! Quote

Building your own MOC is why Lego is so great. Being a Creator set is nothing special in this case. It depends on whether the pieces are good for MOCing in the style of the builder. If someone doesn't like the style of a creator set then it might be down to the parts it uses. Creator sets are getting better, but I used to find they contained too many blocky parts (like 2x2 and other 2xY bricks) to fit my style where I predominantly use 1xY bricks for walls. For many years, the best Castle MOC part pack sets (for me) were Star Wars sets. They tend to be grey, have a wide range of detail parts and had desirable minifigures that could be sold for almost the set price and often more than the purchase price if bought at a discount making the parts close to free. In contrast, I'd rarely buy Minecraft sets for MOCs even if the colour scheme was OK as they contain mainly 2xY bricks, with constant repeats Steve, Alex, zombie and skeleton figures that are worthless. You either like or you dont. its not a good display set imo, compared with the lion knights castle and village square and would look strange alongside imo. 1) or dont buy at all maybe? It depends on your collection if you consider this to be a good parts pack. I don't. 2) the price isnt bad I guess. But pab boxes arent bad either. Or polybags when they are discounted. Last year I managed to buy 33 or so of 30666 at half price. Thats about 2400 parts at about half the price of the castle. Its a bad comparison maybe but in the end its about the value you see in the parts and what you already got in your collection. 3) the figs are nice for sure. But if its just for the figs then it might be better to order a larger quantity online lateron. For me its probably only gonna be the civilian torso, though. The more I think about it the less I am interested in new factions. I would probably want about 100 knights I guess to match my lion/falcon army's, and thats expensive and I dont think I would ever gonna put them to any good use. But I will see about it next year or so... Quote
Ardelon Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 I too am surprised at the lack of buzz about this set upon release. Apparently, people are not very impressed, and everything that could have been said, was already said upon reveal. Doesn't bode well for the set (and by extension for the concept of Castle-in-Creator) - assuming, of course, that AFOL netizens are representative of the reception of this set by the general buying public. eldiano Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 (edited) I finally bought this set with the 2x vip points. i meant to get this back in August but got sidetracked by other hobbies. im happy its a new castle build but i think this set works, its just… tiny. tbh the 2021 had minor flaws that i modified, but so far this set just needs extra pieces, im digging some parts of the build, but idk. It just sucks that castle and pirates aren’t popular anymore and have to resort for grandiose sets every other year im Not a massive army builder either but the figure parts are on PaB im just curious if anyone did moc’s of this with just one set and see how it can be improved a bit, etc, so far its been nothing but 2-4 sets that expand this build. idlemarvel Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 I love this set. The brick built horses are the highlight for me. The four walled fort is very retro. I made the village with windmill alt build as well. I got it for £98 at Argos, at that price I think it is good value. Quote

It reminds me of the kingdoms walls🤣 compared to the lion knights they seem tiny! Some turrets don’t fit minifigs with armor though After finishing the build I think the only problem I have, is the walls not overreaching to the back! They can’t leave the dining room exposed to the enemy Quote
