icm Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Might as well say why not just make a Muppets CMF instead? Or Disney? Or Looney Tunes? Most of the characters are animals themselves anyway. Like @MAB said, an unlicensed series of animal costumes is very different from a licensed series of IP characters, most of which are stylized or anthropomorphic animals. Quote
williejm Posted July 13 Posted July 13 (edited) Whilst acknowledging the info we currently have is very scant, I think we can realistically rule out a licensed theme. A) that info would leak much more consistently than ‘it’s “animals”’, B) we will just have had two licenses in a row: a third seems vanishingly unlikely. Edited July 13 by williejm Quote
Lion King Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I agree that it’s unlikely for the first seires of 2026 would be licensed.. I’m totally okay with “animal costumes” series. But if it’s mix of costume, citizens with aniamls (example, lumberjack with beaver), and anthromphic animals, that’s also okay with me. Quote

The licensed minifigs are humanoid animals and not persons in animal costumes. So I don't think any of these licensed themes would be there. Also, license holders typically are not happy with their items being mixed with other licensed items. I do wonder if all of the 12 would involve an animal costume minifig. Or perhaps it is just the cat and the koala? Others are regular minifigs that reference animals? Quote

Lion King Posted Wednesday at 06:31 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:31 PM I’m totally fine with mix of diverse minifigures, similiar to Monsters, Party, Party 2.0, and Space. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted Thursday at 06:25 PM Posted Thursday at 06:25 PM (edited) Thanks for the news! Don't get me wrong: I really like animal costumes. But I don't like to get a whole series only of these: 1. In contrast to the first years, there's only one unlicensed CMF series a year. Making it themed, is bad for all who aren't fans of this theme. 2. We haven't had food costumes and musicians in unlicensed CMF series for quite some time now, so it would have had been better to get some of these. 3. The designers' budget even for the CMF series is limited. That means that many older moulds have to be used again. Consequently, we will see mainly already existing animal costumes (only in different colors and with different prints), but only a very limited number of really new animal costume moulds. This makes the series less attractive. 4. With Lego (apart from some absolutely limited number of sets every now and then) not releasing any unlicensed Castle, Pirates and classical Space Sets anymore, a regular CMF series has always been a great opportunity to get your hands on figs of these themes. But in a themed (animal costumes) series, there's no chance for this. Beides, I really don't understand TLG: In regular series many people buy several copies of one minifigure for army building. In contrast, with a themed series, why should someone by more than one copy of each minifigure?! So TLG will make much less money with this series. Edited Thursday at 06:33 PM by Klaus-Dieter Quote

I assembled armies of gorilla suit guys, lizard suit guys, and bee girls. It all depends on if someone can spot a use for them. But I agree a series of all costumes will ge boring, so let's hope they have other animal related figures and not just costumes. Quote

Gorilla suit guy was an early icon. It also went really well with the cyborg in the same series: Gorillaborg army FTW Quote

The nice thing about the gorilla mask is that it can be used for a person or an animal, unlike a lot of the recent costumes where the whole face shows through the 'mouth' of the mask. I massively prefer those masks Quote
Robert8 Posted Thursday at 08:57 PM Author Posted Thursday at 08:57 PM There are some animal costumes that could be army builders like sheep suit And I think we'll see maybe a couple of gender swaps, similar to Unicorn and Dragon in series 13-18-23(-28?) Quote

A Lizard Woman (to go the S5 Lizard Man) with an orange or black recolor of the suit It would be a chance to bring back fan favorites costumes that were released when today kids werent even born yet Also, there is the sexual dimorphism angle with costumes like peacock being quite different for male/female Quote

It would look a bit like an anonymous brown bird costume. I'd also not want to see a lizard suit in the near future, we've had enough dinosaurs recently plus the green dragon (and red before that). They've got a monkey tail for Monkey Kid, so a new monkey mask like the gorilla's might be nice. Edited Thursday at 10:31 PM by MAB Quote
