Lasse Posted May 1 Posted May 1 The Golden Pavilion in Kyoto is one of the most famous buildings in Japan. It is a Zen Buddhist temple. In Japanese it is called Kinkaku-ji. It was built in 1397 and is located in a beautiful garden with a lake. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted May 2 Posted May 2 This is very cool. I'm going to Kyoto tomorrow so if I see it I can compare! Quote
jtooker Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Great job with the build, but also the setting. I like all the trees and the brick-built hills behind. Quote
GeoBrick Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Beautiful setting, and I agree with jtooker regarding the background forest and the skyline. A question regarding the bird on top of the temple: is that a statue, or just a bird resting a bit? Also, what species is it? A crane bird or something else? Quote

It is a hōō (Chinese phoenix): Edited May 2 by Lasse Quote
Feuer Zug Posted May 5 Posted May 5 Wonderful recreation of the Golden Pavilion. Just the temple itself would have been a work of art, but adding in the lake and grounds really makes for a great display piece. Quote
